Edox Les Bémonts Ultra Slim

Purist, unembellished, the essence of reductionist elegance. These are the distinguishing characteristics of the world’s slimmest calendar watch: the new Les Bémonts Ultra Slim. The engineers at Edox have produced an exclusive movement with a scant overall height of 1.4 mm – an in-house development made in the Swiss Jura, and a world record.Imagine a feather, or a sprig of lavender, and you can gauge this quartz movement’s filigree design. Fitted inside an ultra-flat case and affixed to a bracelet of satin-finished and polished stainless steel, this watch looks appropriately coquettish on the wrist.
The expense involved in manufacturing this watch considerably exceeds the cost of a conventional mechanical timepiece. The painstakingly crafted dial with classical hand-applied indices is protected behind an anti-reflective sapphire glass with a brilliance and hardness second only to a diamond. Seals around the glass, the crown and the back, which is firmly attached to the case with four separate screws, guarantee water resistance to adepth of 50 metres. Each link in the elegant, flexible bracelet consists of four individual elements, precisely screwed together.

The concealed folding clasp enhances the aura of timeless style. The sum of all these high-quality parts is an exquisite watch that is just 4.75 mm slim overall. Such are the attributes of a timepiece destined to make history.

Eterna Vaughan Big Date Reference Number: 7630.41.50.1175 (2008)

With the Eterna Vaughan Big Date, Eterna has returned to the old-fashioned virtues of watchmaking and produces a watch with an own manufacture calibre. The new Eterna movement provides the function of a unique big date display. In terms of appearance, Eterna remains true to its tradition of elegance and sim-plicity. Eterna has a tradition of elegant men’s watches, such as the new Eterna Vaughan Big Date. The Eterna Centenaire of 1956 and the Eterna·Matic 3000 Dato of 1962 were both watches for men of style.

In its day, the Eterna calibre 1504 movement used in these watches broke all sales records. The calibre 1504 has now provided the model for a new Eterna movement. A young team of watchmakers and design engineers have developed the new Eterna 3030. The Eterna creators have achieved a world record with their very first attempt. The automatic movement with big date display function is the slimmest in its class.
The cambered big date display
In big date display movements, the date is displayed in large numerals on two separate discs. For the dis-play of the date, one of the discs carries the units, while the other carries the tens. A two-disc system allows the use of larger numerals, thereby enhancing the legibility of the date. In the case of the Eterna 3030, an outer disc carries the unit numbers for every day of the month. A small disc, arranged further inside, carries the four necessary digits for the tens display. The Eterna calibre 3030 shows a convex profile on both sides, in the form of a lens. The two discs of the date display blend seamlessly into the cambered surface of the movement. They are designed, not as a conventional arrangement of two flat and horizontal discs posi-tioned one above the other, but as two cambered rings, which rotate next to each other.

High-speed changeover, high-speed setting
The big date display of the Eterna Vaughan Big Date has a fast-acting calendar function, and will change at midnight within less than one second. In contrast with the majority of conventional movements, the switch mechanism allows both the time and date to be adjusted at any time. The rotational impulse for the tens disc is generated directly by the units disc of the date display. In order to achieve a slim-line movement, the engineers at Eterna have developed a ball bearing-mounted date disc with integral gear toothing. In accor-dance with conventional practice, the date is adjusted manually using the winding button. Rotating the crown through 360° will adjust the date by two days. Setting the date is both fast and straightforward.

High-tech components
The basic movement is closely modelled on the Eterna Kaliber 1504 from the 1960s. However, this model has been thoroughly overhauled by the design engineers. Ease of maintenance and the lifetime of the movement have been significantly enhanced. The movement can be fully dismantled, allowing the re-placement of each individual component. A photolithographic process has been used for the production of the main components. This method allows the high-precision creation of complex forms of small dimensions, which are generally responsible for key functions in a watch movement. The photolithographic proc-ess delivers components of an extremely hard nickel or nickel-phosphor alloy, which is barely to wear.

Movements incorporating components of this type are distinguished by their exceptionally long lifetime. High-technology notwithstanding, the creative and traditional metalworking skills of the watchmaker are well represented. The bridges of the Eterna calibre 3030 are rhodanized and decorated with a combination of “Perlage” and “Colimaçon”. The rotor sparkles with a dazzlingly beautiful “Côtes de Genève“ finish.

Slim-line elegance
The brilliantly designed interior of the Eterna Vaughan Big Date is mirrored in its outward appearance. The lens shaped movement is reflected in the cambered dial and the smooth outlines of the case. The fine de-tails, the clear markings and the straight Dauphine hands are all elements of sophisticated design. The Eterna Vaughan Big Date is available in polished stainless steel or polished rose gold. The stainless steel model comes with an anthracite dial and a black crocodile skin strap, while the rose gold case combines a silver dial with a brown crocodile skin strap.

Alpina Extreme Diver 1000 Meters

After having climbed the highest summits, Alpina is now plunging to the depths of the ocean and exclusively releasing its brand new Alpina Extreme Diver 1000 Meters.

The Alpina Extreme Regulator, Alpina Extreme Automatic and, more recently, the Alpina Manufacture Regulator were collections designed to explore the summits. The Alpina brand is now branching out into the world of diving watches.

With its angular and sophisticated design, the newly-released Alpina Extreme Diver 1000 Meters takes over where its big sisters left off. What's more, it is decked out with a unidirectional rotating bezel displaying the time in minutes. The bezel measures elapsed time in minutes for the first fifteen minutes and then in ten minute segments after that. The luminous triangle marker highlights the 12 o'clock position. The black watch dial displays the date within a half-moon shaped display positioned at 3 o'clock. The day of the week is also displayed within the brand's famous red triangle. Alpina have kept this red triangle as a form of decoration in the centre of the watch face.
Alpina Extreme Diver 1000 Meters
In the classic extreme design, measuring 48 mm, the Alpina Extreme Diver 1000 Meters stands out at the bottom of the sea. Even in the darkness of the ocean-depths, the time will be clearly visible thanks to the watch hands, Arabic numerals and luminous index markers.

The brand's latest release replaces mechanical dial movement with automatic winding AL-525, a feature already used in the Alpina Extreme Automatic. This watch has a 42-hour power reserve, a blue-stained face decorated with mother of pearl and can be viewed through a sapphire glass window.

The helium escape valve located on the edge at the 10 o'clock position is an essential feature of a diving watch. In fact, when diving tens of meters below sea level for long periods of time, helium atoms can build up in the case. These atoms could expand and damage the watch when ascending. This escape valve, which is used during the decompression stop, allows the Alpina Extreme Diver 1000 Meters mechanism to remain intact.

The Alpina Extreme Diver 1000 Meters is available in two versions; one is made of surgical grade stainless steel with a black dial and the other is "Full Black", i.e. has a PVD case and a black dial.

HYSEK Abyss Tourbillon

The Abyss Tourbillon is the first movement imagined and manufactured by HYSEK, this piece of character, with a robust and asserted look is a visual and technical marvel. Its very sophisticated conception requires a very technical know how. This piece presents a power reserve and a big date; the disk of the date is visible behind a marvelous sapphire dial which covers half of the Tourbillon.

This Tourbillon movement is housed in a sublime titanium case coming from aeronautics with black titanium horns and prolonged by an articulated strap in leather and perforated rubber with H insert in Titanium which ends in a double secured fold over buckle in titanium exclusive to HYSEK which strengthens the avant gardiste and virile side of the brand. Model limited to 30 pieces.
Hysek creativity has no limit and the signature from which a very asserted horological character is emanating has today its interest beyond the image. Ultimate success of an inner construction whose harmony agrees with completion, the company is taking off and created its own manufacture in order to extend its potential to the pure mechanic. Codename of Hysek in temporal revolution: HW03 caliber.
The Abyss is indeed a Tourbillon watch, because, such a temporal vortex, it has known at once how to capture the best of the know how of these last years to make a technical syntheses in which the architecture of the design has known how to put forward the advantages and strengths of innovative alloys, rare materials and avant gardist technologies in only one volume, which gave birth to an almost infinitely simple watch.

A Hyper Tech case: The Abyss Tourbillon owns an incontestable strength of captation by reaching all stylistics and technical universes before the others. A pioneer in its field, this watch becomes a horological crossing where all experiences and thematics discussed since the beginning of the third millennium finally find a kind of materialization.
Unveiled in 2008, this watch is under the protection of this number whose writing, by symbolizing Meobius ring, gives an infinite physical dimension. The Abyss Tourbillon case is in brushed Titanium, the horns in black titanium and has a bezel in tinted sapphire, metallized and inlayed with luminescent studs which opens on a great dial from which we remember at the same time the transparency but also the reasoned exploitation of the technical elements’ discovery.

Concurs of modernity and tradition, its heart balances and its very contemporary strap with titanium insert succeed in joining leather in perforated rubber to reveal, on people greedy for avant garde’s wrist, the watch of immediate future.A calibre at the erotic transparency Transparent but not skeleton, contemporary and liberated from the classical constraints but not indecent, the HW03 calibre with manual winding is endowed with a fly tourbillon regulator with escapement, furthermore it is a Tourbillon with a very complicated shape revealing a wonderful titanium balance.

Hysek Manufacture will stay as a pole in the horological design history. See without showing everything, unveil without tarnishing, here is the orientation the art must take when measuring the time during the third millennium. Hysek opens, once again the path with this first reference realized in its manufacture and at a limited edition of 30 pieces. With 338 components including 38 jewels chosen not red but transparent (except end stones and impulse-pin of the plate), this calibre gives the hours, minutes and seconds thanks to a hand machined in the same spirit than the complicated shaped Tourbillon.

Complicated as far as in the most invisible details, this semi-instantaneous big date movement at 3O’Clock, exploits for its discs some advanced aluminium alloys limiting this way the inertia during the rotation. Subtle, this calibre using no classical finishing’s code upgrades the mechanical writing by employing felly wheels specifically trimmed so as to be a subliminal and personal signature.Intensively unique, this watch at the same time simple and complicated writes without saying it the coming tendency and proves that rarity tolerates temperance.
