Bell & Ross VINTAGE Collection: VINTAGE ORIGINAL & VINTAGE HERITAGE

Bell & Ross has designed the VINTAGE COLLECTION as an homage to the aviators of the 1940’s who were the first professionals to use the wristwatch as a tool on their missions.

Every line in the VINTAGE COLLECTION is unique but all VINTAGE watches share the same inspiration, shape and movements. The traditional shape of the round case is reminiscent of wristwatches of yesteryear while its ergonomics provide the comfort modern day wearers have come to expect. The domed crystal recalls the crystals of the time period. Unlike the original 1940’s wristwatches, it is produced using extremely strong sapphire thanks to improved manufacturing techniques. The refined dial graphics optimize readability, taking their inspiration from cockpit instruments. A choice of two high quality Swiss movements: an automatic hours, minutes and seconds version (BR 123) and a chronograph version (BR 126).

The VINTAGE ORIGINAL line
The VINTAGE ORIGINAL models are re-editions of watches worn by aviators in the 1940’s; a modern version that conjures the essence of the original models. The case is satin-finish steel while each of the two dial colors evokes the style of the era:

BLACK DIAL: What strikes you immediately is the extreme readability of the model’s white hands and index that are in direct contrast to the black dial, similar to an aviation instrument. The dial adheres to one of Bell & Ross’ core principles- readability. With its matte leather strap, this classic watch is a timeless and discretely elegant basic which can be worn on any occasion.
Technical details
Movement: Mechanical automatic, ETA 2895 (123) and 2894 (126).

Dial: Black. Numerals, index and hands covered in photoluminescent coating.
Crystal: Anti-reflection domed sapphire.

BEIGE DIAL: In this model, the vintage spirit is abundant with the beige dial and hands reminiscent of the uniforms of World War II pilots. The black numerals and index contrasting with the beige of the dial make for perfect readability. The brown leather strap works in harmony with the tones of the watch face. A connoisseur’s model of restraint and originality that is soon to become a legend.

• The beige color of the hands, index and numerals is reminiscent of the distinctive coloring of period watches.
• The natural leather strap, similar to antique watches, acquires a characteristic patina with time.

Baume et Mercier: New William Baume Collection 2010

In order to celebrate brilliantly 180 years of expertise, heritage, and family watchmaking tradition, the Maison de haute horlogerie Baume & Mercier adds new exceptional pieces to its William Baume Collection, which was inspired by the passionate and visionary personality of the man who shaped the modern destiny of the company, driving it into the Twentieth century.

The new William Baume Collection is a tribute to time and its measurement. Through a splendid array of haute horlogerie models, it evokes the noble traditions of one of the oldest Swiss watch brands, Baume & Mercier. This time-honored expertise is admirably embodied by the figure of William Baume, the man who forged the company’s contemporary destiny and was instrumental in earning it the prestigious Poinçon de Genève in 1921, the seal acknowledged as the highest watchmaking quality certification.

180 years of watchmaking expertise by Baume & Mercier
It was in 1830 that the “Frères Baume” watch comptoir horloger (watch dealership) was founded in Les Bois, a village in the Swiss Jura region. In 1918, the firm was renamed Baume & Mercier and relocated to Geneva, under the leadership of William Baume, representing the third generation of one of the most important watchmaking Houses of the era.

Right from the time of its founding, the Baume brand distinguished itself by the excellence and innovation of its timepieces. It won six gold medals in the World Fairs of Paris, London, Philadelphia and Geneva with its complication watches – tourbillons, minute repeaters, perpetual calendars – along with a number of prizes in the timing competitions held by the Kew Teddington Observatory near London, the most renowned of the period. It was there that in 1892, a keyless chronometer with tourbillon escapement by Baume won the absolute precision record that was to remain unequaled for ten years. Such is the rich watchmaking history that the William Baume Collection now celebrates by offering a contemporary expression of the haute horlogerie models that are an integral part of the Baume & Mercier heritage.

William A. Baume (1885-1956)
William Baume shaped the modern destiny of the Baume & Mercier brand by resolutely leading the “Frères Baume” company, founded in 1830 by his grandfather Louis Victor Baume and his great-uncle Célestin Baume, into the 20th century.

An exceptionally talented watchmaker brimming with innovative ideas in the early 20th century, William Baume joined forces in 1918 with Paul Mercier to create the Baume & Mercier brand in Geneva. The new company brilliantly combined traditional and contemporary watchmaking, drawing inspiration from the latest technical and aesthetic trends that it interpreted in complete harmony with the rules of watchmaking craftsmanship.

Loyal to his forefathers’ determination to “create only watches of the highest quality”, William Baume perpetuated their expertise with passion and innovation, while giving a new dimension to their horological heritage through the contribution of Paul Mercier. The latter, a cosmopolitan aesthete and an astute businessman, admirably complemented William Baume’s watchmaking know-how. At the heart of the 1920s, a period of dramatic change characterized by major technical breakthroughs and unprecedented creative effervescence, William Baume and Paul Mercier defined a brand philosophy that is as modern as ever: mastering watchmaking and placing it the service of timeless design and elegance.

Geneva, 1920 - “Capital of Nations”
The 1920s in Geneva were a period of intense activity and openness towards the world. On November 15th 1920, Geneva welcomed delegates of the Assembly of the newly constituted League of Nations, the first international organization in history and the forerunner of the UN. In 1920, so as to host delegates and diplomats from around the world, the “capital of nations” on the shores of Lake Léman acquired an “air field” that was to become Switzerland’s first international airport. This mood of modernity and open-mindedness doubtless inspired William Baume’s decision to transfer the Frères Baume watch company from Les Bois to Geneva, in order to establish the Baume & Mercier brand in partnership with his associate Paul Mercier.

William Baume Collection 2010
The William Baume Collection is exclusively composed of models crafted in harmony with the purest watchmaking tradition and housing complication movements. All models in the collection, which is annually renewed by limited editions, revive the brand’s origins through haute horlogerie movements closely linked with its historical heritage. In 2010, Baume & Mercier is adding a new complication to the William Baume Collection with a Jumping Hours model featuring a silver-colored or black dial and boasting the extremely refined finishing and retro-contemporary design that are characteristic of the William Baume Collection.

Jumping Hour, the first “digital” watch
Jumping Hour is a complication that displays the hours in the form of numbers appearing through an aperture, instead of showing them with a hand. Jumping Hour models are thus referred to as the first “digital” watches in horological history. Printed on a rotating disk, the numbers instantly “jump” when the hour changes, while the minutes and seconds are generally indicated by hands. The first known jumping hours watch is a pocket-watch made by French watchmaker Blondeau for the King of France in around 1830 – the exact founding date of the “Frères Baume” company that was to give rise to Baume & Mercier.

William Baume Jumping Hour watches
Newly launched in 2010, this interpretation of the William Baume Collection displays the hours in an aperture at 12 o’clock, while the minutes and seconds are indicated by red gold hands on two separate subdials. The silver-colored or black dial is adorned with a crossweave guilloché motif and sunburst satin-brushed finish on the subdials. The self-winding movement is visible through the large opening in the sapphire crystal case-back, enabling one to admire the circular-grained and snailed finishing on the mainplate and bridges, as well as the openworked oscillating weight with Côtes de Genève decoration. The XL sized (41 mm) case is crafted in 18-carat red gold with applied lugs. The hand-sewn black or chocolate brown alligator leather strap is enhanced by a red gold pin buckle. These two new William Baume models will be launched in limited numbered series of 40 for each dial version.

Porsche Design P’6612 Dashboard Le Mans 1970 Limited Edition

It was 40 years ago that Porsche chalked up its first overall win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Limited to an edition of 917 pieces, the new Porsche Design P’6612 Dashboard Le Mans 1970 Limited Edition chronograph celebrates a key event in Porsche's motor racing history – the day the legend that is Porsche became fact. The winning car – the legendary red-white-red Porsche 917 K bearing start number 23 – was driven by Porsche works drivers Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood.

Porsche's Type 917 set a series of benchmarks in 1970: its air-cooled 12-cylinder midship engine boasted a 4.5-litre displacement delivering 580 HP at 8400 rpm. This propelled the 800 kg or so long-tail version of the car to speeds in excess of 400 km/h (248 mph) on the Hunaudières straight. For its part, the short-tailed 917 K could hit 350 km/h (217 mph). The terrible weather that blighted the race days on the 13/14 June 1970 meant that speed alone was never going to be the deciding factor; instead, saving the day was the racing genius of the drivers: Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood were first across the winning line in their 917 K, followed by two other Porsches.

The P’6612 Dashboard Le Mans 1970 Limited Edition picks up on the function and rigour of the legendary racing car. It embodies the values of Porsche Design, the luxury brand whose products express function, timelessness and purity of form. Sporting light-coloured numeric indices against a black background, its dial evokes the 917's dashboard instruments. The black minute and hour hands feature a coating of white luminous material, while the seconds stop hand is red and bears a white tip. The tachymeter scale can be used to compute the speed – between 60 and 330 km/h – travelled over one kilometre.

The 12-hour counter at 9 o'clock and the 30-minute counter at 6 o'clock are picked out in red, while the small seconds hand at 3 o'clock rotates against a white background and bears the start number 23. The case of the P’6612 Dashboard Le Mans 1970 is fashioned from brushed and polished titanium complemented by push-pieces and a screw-down crown with “Clous-de-Paris” motif.

The sapphire crystal caseback bears the watch's limited edition number and the inscription "Winner Le Mans 1970" together with "917-023" – the chassis number of the winning car. The self-winding ETA 2894-A2 movement with its energy-optimised Porsche Design rotor offers a power reserve of 42 hours; its balance oscillates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, equivalent to a frequency of four hertz.
The chronograph's strap is modelled on the steering wheel of the Porsche 917 K. Fashioned from black calf leather picked out with contrasting red stitching, it features dual perforations like those of the 917's steering wheel spokes. Rounding out the design is a titanium pin buckle. The P’6612 Dashboard Le Mans 1970 Limited Edition comes with a miniature model of the winning Porsche 917 K and a publication personally signed by Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood. Limited worldwide to an edition of 917 pieces, the individually numbered chronographs will be released to retail outlets in September 2010.

JS Watch co : Sif - N.A.R.T (North Atlantic Rescue Timer ) - The Official Watch of the Icelandic Coast Guard

THE SIF – N.A.R.T,(The North Atlantic Rescue Timer)by Iceland based watch manufacturer JS Watch co. is an extremely solid watch designed to withstand depths of up to 1000 metes and the most difficult conditions that might arise. This watch has been in the design and testing stages with the brand for about two years. Now the time has come to let it undergo real world trials in the most difficult conditions that can imagine: the Icelandic Coast Guard’s rescue missions.

In spite of difficult times and natural disasters, JS Watch co. Reykjavík is keeping to its normal agenda and has been collaborating closely with the country's most reputable rescue team, the Icelandic Coast Guard. Each and every staff member in the Guard’s staff is vigorously trained and approaches their work with the seriousness it warrants. The SIF N.A.R.T. is designed keeping aim of their difficult work, so it must meet the quality requirements which the guard sets for equipment it uses and relies on.

The watch bears the name SIF - N.A.R.T. and is named after the rescue helicopter TF-SIF which served the Icelanders for about 22 years. Before the helicopter was put out of commission on june 17th 2007, it had saved the lives of over 250 people and gone on hundreds of ambulance flights. It owes that success to the fact that the staff of the Icelandic Coast Guard are not just any staff: they’re among the best in the world in each and every one of their fields. With this in mind, the name SIF was chosen for this new watch. The name references the fact that with a strong will and hard work, it is possible to achieve great things that others might consider impossible.

The SIF - N.A.R.T. will be available to the following units within the Icelandic Coast Guard: The helicopter rescue team, pilots in helicopters and airplanes, bomb squad members and divers. The N.A.R.T. which stands for North Atlantic Rescue Timer and refers to the function which the watch is supposed to fulfill. These watches will encounter many trails and tribulations. Each watch worn by the guard's will acquire quite a story, and it will be recorded with each watch. The watches that the Icelandic Coast Guard will be using are complete with NATO straps that are very strong and quite heavy-duty. They're therefore very well-suited for the conditions which they will face.

The general public now has the opportunity to own the exact same watch that the Icelandic Coast Guard will use for years to come. The watches will be for sale in two varieties, brushed steel and black PVD coated. Leather straps and NATO straps will also be available. Each SIF - N.A.R.T. is made from a solid block of surgical grade stainless steel which is first stamped and punched, and subsequently milled, drilled and turned on CNC machines. It has a 4mm thick sapphire crystal and has withstood numerous pressure and stress tests. After the tests and their results, it can reliably classify the SIF - N.A.R.T. as a 1000 meter watch.

Graham-London MERCEDES GP TrackMaster

There is no doubt about the quality of the components of the MERCEDES GP PETRONAS Formula One Team. For a start a brilliant engine, the 2.4 litre V8 Mercedes-Benz FO108X. Then on the personnel side, inspired entrepreneur Ross Brawn with two World Championships under his belt from last year to add to his fourteen previous titles. And in the cockpit, seven times World Champion Michael Schumacher and upcoming young star Nico Rosberg. Even the timing partner, GRAHAM watches, has excellent credentials.

The question for this team and many race enthusiasts is can they bring it all together? After what Ross Brawn calls a “challenging time” in recent weekends the team are confident the hard work will pay off in the near future. With two home races coming up in Silverstone and Hockenheim, everybody at MERCEDES GP PETRONAS will be working extra hard to achieve the edge they are looking for.

Silverstone is close to the home of MERCEDES GP PETRONAS and Ross Brawn is enthusiastic: “The British Grand Prix is always a very important and special weekend for our team with Silverstone situated between our factories in Brackley and Brixworth. A lot of thought and hard work has gone into our improvement plans for the car and we are hopeful of making further progress.” The next round, Hockenheim is a few hundred kilometres from the Mercedes-Benz headquarters in Stuttgart.

This year is the first time in over 55 years that Mercedes-Benz are running a Formula One Team under their name, hoping to replicate the success of the iconic Silver Arrows design that helped them win the World Championship in 1954 and 1955. It was the iconic design of the Silver Arrows that has formed the basis of the specially designed watches that GRAHAM has produced as the team’s timing partner.Alexander Krausz, Managing Director at GRAHAM says: “We looked at the unique elements of the Silver Arrows design and produced a special edition watch, with hands that relate to the Mercedes-Benz star. We also picked out the wet weather tyre pattern to put on the bracelet ”.

Brawn is crossing his fingers: “It’s a long hard road ahead but we are confident that we will ge there.”

Maybe it’s their partner’s GRAHAM’s values of precision and excellence that will be most needed if MERCEDES GP PETRONAS are to continue the winning traditions of the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows.

GREINER Musical Hand-skeleton watch

The Musical Hand-skeleton watch is an exceptional mechanical horology masterpiece created by GREINER. Sometimes the best inspirations come from the customer himself. It was a real challenge to create a watch displaying finely sculptured musical instruments. Trumpet, violin and clarinet are created of 18ct gold in the most sophisticated microdetailed way.
Have a look at the tiny bow which moved to play the violin when the watches' crown was wound. Also trumpet and clarinet moved together in tact. The white gold case was ornamented with fine hand engravings; also the crown was a small handmade masterpiece.

GREINER Invention of the fuel engine skeleton watch

Everything in this watch can move. Not only the beautiful hand skeleton movement which tells you the time with Swiss precision but also a golden motor boat swims on engraved waves, an ancient dirigible floats high in the sky sculptured in 18ct gold. Gottlieb Daimler, the founder of Mercedes Benz greets us with his waving hat. You only have to move the watches crown to start the delicious game. Water, air and land- the use of Daimlers' first fuel engines was widespread.
The finely detailed, engraved market place of Schorndorf, the birth place of Daimler gives a nice background. The straight stainless steel case, which was also made by skilled hands, emphasizes the masterly art of jewelers' engraving. An excellent horology marvel from GREINER.

GREINER TAKTLOS (TACTLESS) Collection

GREINER TAKTLOS (TACTLESS)is a collection of the wrist-watches with erotic figure play. These watches are made completely from 18ct gold. The watch cases are by hand manufactured and also available in gold, platinum or high-grade steel.

GREINER Tactless Trigger-automatism, stainless steel
Romantic and harmless seems the evening scenery on the dial of this watch. Only the golden hands which circle in front of an old beetle car give a hint that there might be something more to discover. To do this we have to turn the watch to the back.

In the quietness of the night we can move the couple now to do some hot erotic exercise; therefore we only need to press a button on the watches' side. A very amazing piece made of gold, silver and stainless steel, which we already exported into several countries, each time with different scenes.

GREINER Tactless Multiple Trigger-automatism, sterling silver
Tactless Multiple is a noble silver watch with an outstanding modern design. Hands made of red gold, numbers of yellow gold, housed in a handmade and hand engraved silver case create an outstanding watch unequaled by any factory made watch. The hidden secret does only reveal to the one who is allowed to turn the watch to its back.

Tiny golden micro sculptured figures delight themselves and the spectator with a most delicate and confusing love game. This unique watch runs with an automatic Swiss movement (ETA 2398)

GREINER Cabaret jumping hour, 18ct yellow gold
A theatre stage created finely out of yellow, red and white gold gives the place for decently erotic games which are only visible to the attentive spectator. At a first look the fact that the watch only possesses one hand which indicates the minutes will be striking. The hours have to be decoded from the pictures which are visible in the window on the stage. These pictures are unbelievable finely sculptured erotic figures which each stand for a number between one and twelve.

A close look to the back of the watch is also quite worthwhile. The hand engraved automatic movement is driven by a sculptured winding-rotor which shows a swinging loving couple. Really an absolutely unique piece!

GREINER Biker Five-minute repeater, stainless steel
Delicately sculptured red gold figures take a very suggestive position on a motorbike backed by a finely engraved white gold dial. Acting the repeater mechanism a very daring love game starts to the biggest pleasure of the spectator. But the nice game isn't finished yet.

Turning the watch to the back you will meet a wild erotic hunting of custom motorbikes giving life to the theme: “Born to be wild!” Just the work of unbelievable skilled hands...!

GREINER Football Hand-skeleton watch, stainless steel
It is said that men are only interested in three things: technology, football and women. Now the brand unites all this in one extraordinary skeleton watch. The most delicate skeleton gives directly way to look at the mechanical work of the movement. Some diamonds give additional brilliant flashes. Above this plays a dramatic scene of an exciting football game.

The trick in it is that the movement of all golden sculptured players can be controlled by winding the watches' crown. Keeper defender and forward move in a lifelike scene. On the back of the watch you will not only be delighted by the beautiful engraving but also by the love game of a golden couple which “works” busily by winding the watch.

GREINER Tactless Movie Hand-skeleton watch, stainless steel
In quite a lot of artful variations this most demanded of GREINER's skeleton watches, has already found its place in the hands of enthusiastic customers of various countries. The handwound movement Unitas 6498 is skeletonized and the artist even sculptured by hand directly into the movement erotic figures. Together with golden sculptured figures which are set on top they generate exciting erotic sceneries which can be brung into life by agitating the watches' crown.

The love play continues on the back side of the watch and is as well movable by winding the watches' crown. The watch shown has got a handmade case of high grade stainless steel. But like all of their handmade watches it is also available in gold, silver or platinum.

GREINER Devil and Witch Hand-skeleton, sterling silver
There is an old German tale which tells about witches and devils who meet once in a year at a certain date on a mountain right in the centre of Germany to celebrate a wild erotic feast. A dangerous place to be at that day for normal human beings! Without any danger but therefore full of wonderful sparkling detail is the look on this most astonishing skeleton watch.

Numbers of incredibly fine sculptured golden figures, sparkling diamonds and masterly engravings strike the observers' eye. Not enough, the whole spectacular play can be moved by the watches' crown. Nearly unbelievable that this splendid miracle was made by human hands! Housed in a silver case it rests an absolutely unique piece.

GREINER Rapunzel Hand-skeleton watch, platinum
A beautiful girl named Rapunzel was held caught in a high tower by a bad witch. From the ground a handsome prince fell in love with her. But how to reach to his love? She let her hair down and he could easily climb up at her plait. What they did in this hidden room high up in the tower the fairytale does not tell. But this watch reveals the secret if you turn it to the back.

Sceneries sculptured of 18ct gold can be nicely moved by the watches' crown, a delight! The handmade platinum case gives an adequate housing for this masterpiece of art.
