Romain Jerome Watches : Brand Info

Swiss luxury watch brand Romain Jerome was founded in 2004 when several professional golfers made it clear that there was a real demand for a genuine golfer’s watch. The niche market of golf was unspoken and after years of research and development Romain Jerome gave birth to a worldwide first: the Hole in One Golf Counter.

For the first time ever, the Hole in One Golf Counter can display a golfers’ score along the entire course. It enables players to memorise their state of progress along a golf course (hole number), to count the number of strokes played on each hole, and to add them up as he proceeds. The look of the Romain Jerome Hole in OnGolf Counter is golf-oriented as aesthetic features symbolising clubs, tees, balls and starting signs, reinforce the brand identity in naturally powerful manner. Seeing the incredible potential, the main investor decided to augment his parts enabling the creation of a real worldwide brand.

Romain Jerome Golf counter watch

In 2006, with the arrival of Mr. Yvan Arpa, the company gained new momentum and began to create exceptional timepieces inspired by, and created in tribute to, the great legends of our time. The big step was Baselworld 2007 where Romain Jerome is presented its “DNA of famous legends” collection starring “Titanic-DNA”: a high end watch integrating real steel from the Titanic, drawn from the ocean floor.

Romain Jerome has become renowned for its “DNA of Famous Legends”. This bold theme was first introduced with the Titanic-DNA watches incorporating material from the sunken liner, and which turned watchmakers’ fiercest enemy, rust, into an unexpected ally. In 2009, Romain Jerome has chosen to celebrate another legendary and truly universal human adventure with its Moon Dust-DNA, made from the metal of spacecraft and moon dust, and accompanied by a certificate from the Association of Space Explorers (ASE).

Timeline:
• 2006: Appointment of Yvan Arpa as Managing Director of Romain Jerome
• 2007: Launch of the Titanic-DNA at Basel world. This collection consists of timepieces integrating oxidized steel from the Titanic
• 2008: CHF 50 million of placed orders. Setting up of a distribution network with 75 sales points. Inauguration of the Moon Dust-DNA collection, timepieces integrating
authentic moon dust.
• 2009: The owners of the limited liability company RJ Watches SA and its watch brand Romain Jerome have decided to part with the Yvan Arpa (CEO), the head of administration, the sales director and two other staff members.Romain Jerome S.A. announced the appointment of Mr Manuel Emch as its new CEO.Mr Emch, a Swiss born in 1972, studied design at the Art Center in La Tour de Peilz, before gaining a Master’s degree in business at Lausanne University’s Faculty of Business and Economics (HEC). He began his career as a business process re engineering consultant and a marketing manager in FMCG before joining the Swatch Group in 2001, where he successfully revived the Jaquet Droz brand, transforming it into one of the finest references in the field of fine watch-making. He was also appointed to the Group’s Extended Management Board, with special responsibilities for a broad territory encompassing Russia, other Eastern European countries and Central Asia.

Jan 2017:  After more than seven years at the helm of RJ-Romain Jerome, Manuel Emch announced his decision to leave the Geneva watchmaking company’s executive management to become the delegate of the Board of Directors. His mission will be to drive the overall strategy of the brand. For Manuel Emch, the accomplishment represented by becoming part of the SIHH means further recognition for RJ-Romain Jerome, in addition to being honoured by a number of awards for the excellence of both its products and its advertising campaigns. Over the past few years, the brand has also developed an extensive distribution network, highlighted by the January 2017 inauguration of its first Geneva boutique.

Titanic DNA Collection
This Collection was inspired and created in tribute to the Titanic, the majestic and splendid sea giant, technological masterpiece of an era when it was the epitome of power and elegance. For the rusted timepieces, the bezel reflects an extraordinary fusion which brings together the authentic steel of the Titanic shipwreck, which was resting on the ocean floor at a depth of 3’840 meters, and that of the one from the shipyards Harland & Wolff where the most luxurious ocean liner was built almost a century ago. This is how the DNA is captured; a myth is reborn. Other tributes to the sea giant, the hands of all the timepieces of the Titanic-DNA collection are inspired by the Titanic’s anchor. The small second counter at 9h and numerals on the dial remind of the Titanic steam counters. The deep black color of the dial is obtained with coal recovered from the Titanic. The Titanic-DNA collection is a limited edition to 2’012 pieces (2012 being year of the 100th anniversary of the Titanic) per models except the Titanic-DNA Tourbillon which is limited to 9 pieces.

*The rusted steel horological creations in the ‘Titanic DNA’ series features an oxidized steel bezel which is the result of an extraordinary blend of authentic steel from the wreck lying 3840 meters under the sea, and from the Harland & Wolff shipyard in Belfast, where the Titanic was constructed nearly a century ago. Official certificates of authenticity guarantee the origin of materials used.

Moon Dust DNA Collection
Introduced in 2009, Moon Dust-DNA is the second exclusive collection of Romain Jerome DNA of Famous Legends concept, featuring timepieces inspired by and created in tribute to the great legends of our times.

Legitimately proud of its Titanic-DNA collection dedicated to the world’s greatest maritime legend, Romain Jerome launched out into space in homage to the most fascinating human adventure of all: the conquest of space. Moon Dust-DNA embodies this incredible odyssey and features its main protagonists. It honours the symbol of this headlong race, distinguished by confrontation as well as occasional collaboration between the American and Soviet superpowers, whose main aim was to reach the Moon. The design of the Moon Dust-DNA collection is inspired by and incorporates the DNA heritage of the great players and major figures in the conquest of space. The materials composing the models in this collection incorporate authentic fragments from the aerospace universe such as moon dust as well as fragments of the Apollo XI and Soyuz space shuttles and the International Space Station (ISS).

Moon Dust-DNA features
- A lunar dial based on a mineral deposit including Moon dust;
-A 46 mm steel and titanium case incorporating steel from the Apollo XI space shuttle;
-Rusted steel paws including fragments of the Soyuz spacecraft; and
-A strap composed of fibres from a spacesuit worn during the ISS mission*.

Moon Dust-DNA "The Truth about Roswell"

Romain Jerome guarantees that the origin of each of these materials is duly certified by a legal document authenticated in Switzerland. Each piece in the Moon Dust-DNA collection will also be accompanied by a certificate from the Association of Space Explorers (ASE) saluting the approach of Romain Jerome and the tribute it is thereby rendering to the conquest of space.

Unprecedented in the field of watch making, Romain Jerome offers its customers the opportunity to acquire a part of history by creating highly emotional timepieces integrating the DNA of a legend. Its products are the fruit of Swiss watch making tradition and bear the label "Swiss made". They combine watch making complications, innovative materials and bold design.

Longines PrimaLuna Collection 2010

The Moon has been used to measure time by every civilisation; this night star is feminine, cyclical and eternal. In many cultures the New Moon is a symbol of renewal when it marks the beginning of a new year or the arrival of spring. To pay tribute to this mystical star, the famous Saint-Imier watchmaker is launching an exquisitely fine interpretation of the magic of the Moon this year: the Longines PrimaLuna.

The delicate gleam of stainless steel, the rich hue of rose or yellow gold, or the blend of rose gold and steel. A sleek bracelet of steel, gold or steel and rose gold or a leather strap. A selection of heavenly dials: white, silvered or mother-of-pearl decorated with hour symbols, Arabic or Roman numerals or diamonds. And finally, three hands, blued, gilded or rose, that marks the passing of time. As multifaceted as the modern woman, the Longines PrimaLuna range offers a selection of models in four sizes.

This ladies’ watch is at the same time a piece of jewellery. The pleasing curves of the case are enhanced by a play of diamonds. Precious pieces of pure carbon that glitter with fascination... so feminine! Similarly, the white mother-of-pearl dials of the most sophisticated models are also decorated with sparkling teardrops that will seduce any woman who appreciates diamonds.

Resolutely elegant, contemporary, subtle and carefree. The new Longines PrimaLuna offers to every woman, every modern Sheherazade, to each luminous, unique female a magical world represented by this new collection of exquisite models.

Aspen Jewelry and Watches - The Black Piste, an Aspen One Special Edition

A new design titled The Black Piste has been added to the Aspen One timepiece collection. This new model has already been dubbed “The Understatement Watch.”

Aspen One is the first luxury timepiece introduced by the Swiss-based company Aspen Jewelry and Watches. Aspen One is a limited edition, Swiss-made timepiece, and is a tribute to Aspen and its crown jewel, Aspen Mountain.

The precious Swiss-made timepiece, including the Black Piste, is offered in 18-karat white gold and red gold. The Black Piste contains a DLC coating, yielding a strong, scratch-resistant case that is nearly impossible to damage. The DLC coating also gives the watch an exclusive and robust look. For this edition of Aspen One, the oscillating weight is also black.

Aspen One has a golden heart. If you look closely at the Black Piste, you will see that this watch also has a white gold or red gold case. While the crown and the push buttons are made of these precious metals, they are not coated with DLC. The hinges of the double case, in which you’ll find a specially designed compass, are white or red gold as well. If you wear a Black Piste, you’ll know that you have an 18-karat white or red gold watch around your wrist, yet the DLC coating conceals this, a stylish statement for the times we are currently living in. “I know, but I don’t show,” was a quoted repeatedly at the launch of the Black Piste, resulting in the fitting nickname, “The Understatement Watch.”

On December 5 in Aspen, Colorado, founder and CEO of Aspen Jewelry and Watches René van Ass presented the first Black Piste to Klaus Obermeyer, an international icon who resides in the American ski resort. This pioneer of the mountains is the founder of Obermeyer Sport, a high-tech clothing brand, whose headquarters is based in Aspen. Recently, Klaus Obermeyer turned ninety years old, and he is still skiing every day.

Unique Features of Aspen One
All models of Aspen One boast unique elements that are specific to Aspen. A specially designed compass shows you where you are on top of Aspen Mountain. The number four on the dial is orange, which is the time to change your ski strap to your après-ski strap (done in a few seconds with a technique similar to removing a ski from a boot). In keeping with the tradition of the Ute Indians of Aspen, this color symbolizes prosperity. Orange is also the color of mountain security. With your watch comes a pair of beautiful deerskin gloves, specially made for Aspen One. One of the gloves has a cut-away, so you can always see your Aspen One.

Aspen one is a tribute to Aspen Mountain, the bold mountain commonly referred to as Ajax. The elevation of 3,276 feet from the base of the mountain to its peak is the basis for Aspen One’s limited edition. By buying this watch, you buy one virtual foot of this glorious mountain. This fact will be shown in a delicate way on the mountain. In a beautiful location named the Black Diamond, a special monument has been constructed. Three rock formations will feature the names of all watch buyers and their unique virtual elevation number.

Bexei Dignitas Collection 2010 - Dignitas Tourbillon Diagonal

Independent watch maker & AHCI member Aaron Becsei announces his new wristwatch collection: BEXEI Dignitas 2010.The most complicated piece of the collection is Tourbillon Diagonal which is a new exceptional (patent pending) solution.

Following the principle of creating only self designed and developed handmade timepieces the new Dignitas collection continues the concepts of providing limited, unique solutions for prestigious individuals.

TOURBILLON DIAGONAL, the most complicated piece of Bexei Workshop’s new collection, has a unique tourbillon placed in diagonal position (patent pending solution). Aaron Becsei’s latest invention reaches double improvement on the disadvantageous effects of gravity: the diagonal arrangement reduces the amplitude’s difference between the vertical and horizontal positions where the wristwatches are mainly positioned (day: on the wrist / night: on the desk); and the tourbillon system compensates the disequilibrium of the balance wheel.

This timepiece fascinates the observer with exceptional complications for the hour, minute and second indication: a jumping display to show the hour, a retrograde minute-hand; and seconds are indicated on the diagonal positioned conic section-dial of the tourbillon system.

Dignitas TOURBILLON DIAGONAL was imagined for whom the idea of high-end quality and precision combined with uncompromising luxury is irresistible.

Olivier Randin La Manufacture Horlogère de Lausanne : Brand Info

Olivier Randin was born in Brazil in 1971 to a German mother and a Swiss father. In the Nineties, he began his watch making career in Basel. After a trip through Latin America, he met Franck Muller, the biggest watch maker at the end of the Nineties. They worked closely together in the depth of watch making artistic creation. In 2000 he created his first watch under the pseudonym Mark of Salom. The watch, engraved by hand, was based on modernism and traditional design.

After Franck Muller, he worked with major luxury watch brands like Roger Dubuis, Cartier, Piaget, Jaeger-Le Coultre and Rolex. Enthusiast of the watch industry’s beauty, he wanted to create his own way and in memory of the watch makers established in the XIX century, he opened the Manufacture in Lausanne. In 2008 Olivier Randin introduced a new collection in hommage of the great choreographer Maurice Béjart.

Maurice Béjart Hommage Collection
Through this creation Olivier Randin supports the Foundation Maurice Béjart and thus contributes to the perenniality of its heritage. For the two persons in charge, Olivier Randin and Jean Marc Moffa, the values transmitted by the choreographer in his ballets are those which the mark wants to promote today. In the contemporary watch making industry, Olivier Randin's models are the best example of fusion of two universes than are the dance and the clock industry.
Models:
  • Regard d’OR : Portrait of Maurice Béjart engraved with the hand on a gold dial, crown crimped with an authentic piece of the scene of the Metropolis of Lausanne.
  • Le Ballet Bleu : Homage to the glance azure of Maurice Béjart, case with the signature on the side of Maurice Béjart engraved hand, sapphire crimped on the crown.
  • L’Ombre ou la Danse : Homage to the colors of Béjart Lausanne Ballet, ruby crimped on the crown.
  • Mikoto : Homage to its love for its Abyssins, portrait of Maurice Béjart redrawn with the hand before its reproduction on the dial.
Moveo, Ref OR - MOV
Dial of this watch model is composed of three H/Min/Sec discs. The two external discs express the hours and the minutes respectively on the left and on the right. The disc of the center expresses the seconds. An automatic movement supports this disc and allows a continuous and soft rotation. No adjustment can be done on this disc. In fact, it can turn only when the watch is carried. The movement of the wrist allows automatic movement to take care and thus to make swivel its disc. The innovation is in the type of dial without needle which dissociates the conventional reading of the hour like in the aesthetics of the shape of the chronometer. MOVEO transforms the watch making tradition to make of it, in the originality, a temporary ornament. The central disc is left free with the choice of its owner.
Special features: Jump hours by the left disc, minutes on the right and the central disc expresses the seconds. No adjustment can be done on this disc. An automatic movement holds up this disc and permits a continuous rotation. De facto it ca only revolve when the watch is being worn.

  • Movements: self winding mechanical base ETA and Quartz ETA
  • Discs: Set with white diamonds, rubies, emeralds and personalized central disc
  • Dial: White gold, black enamel cloisonné, Rhodium, DLC or PVD
  • Watch case: White, Pink or yellow gold
  • Case dimensions: 65 mm horizontal and 35 mm width
  • Straps: Black alligator leather or galuchat
Collection Maschera
Brand's latest collection Maschera has been developed through the special collaboration with Marc Pasini,an artist based in Paris. For this Olivier Randin developed a new fabrication technology which enables the brand to make absolutely all colors on a dial.Olivier Randin presents this collection in three pieces in one box.

IWC Portuguese Chrono-Automatic, Ref.3714

The Portuguese Chrono-Automatics from IWC are watches for active people who appreciate a superb and distinctively elegant timekeeping companion. These are people who may be prepared to go without many supplementary functions, but not without the protective case which confers the accolade of suitability for everyday use on a watch. With a hardness grade of 9, its convex sapphire glass can withstand any concrete wall, and its resistance to scratching defers only to a diamond.

This guarantees a clear view of the classic dial with its Arabic numerals that are so typical of the Portuguese range, the elegant lance hands and the two vertically arranged inner dials for the small seconds at 6 o’clock and the chronograph 30-minutes counter at 12 o’clock. An indispensable feature for uncomplicated watch lovers is the water resistance to 30 m, which guarantees that there is nothing to fear even from water sport activities.

While on the subject of sport: the Portuguese Chrono-Automatic opens up the exciting possibility of capturing a small piece of time itself by simply pressing a button on the chronograph, whether monitoring your personal training time or taking measurements in the heat of competition between athletes. The precision scale on the outer edge of the case permits measurements down to a quarter of a second.

The Portuguese Chrono-Automatic is an independent and autonomous power plant. At any rate for as long as its wearer is in motion. Powered by the 79240 calibre mechanical automatic movement with 28 800 beats per hour, it provides the proverbial precision in the passage of time. It reflects this with absolute reliably, and the power reserve will even survive a 44-hour interruption in movements.

Although the case diameter of 41 mm makes the Portuguese Chrono- Automatic a substantial item that scarcely goes unnoticed, it remains a restrained timepiece with its seductive elegance and merits its place in the class of timeless watch culture. Let us also not forget that this watch is appreciated and worn by women and men alike.

Model Variations
The range previously consisted of four models in rose gold, white gold and steel, each with a silver-plated dial, and the stainless steel chronograph model with a black dial and silver-plated inner dials. One new case and five new dial variations were added to Portuguese Chrono-Automatic Collection in 2002.

IWC Small Da Vinci Mechanical Chronograph Ref. 3736

Originally launched in 2002, Small Da Vinci Mechanical Chronograph is the smallest model in the wide range of IWC watches that answers to the fascinating name “Da Vinci”. And it was included almost from the outset; the small Da Vinci demonstrates with charm, high technology and horological refinement that the Schaffhausen factory also understands how to produce ladies’ watches successfully.

For many years, the Lady has felt very much at its ease in the sometimes rather overbearing male company. For as an equally practical and elegant chronograph wristwatch, it must not be overshadowed by the sporting models. That is why, following a stylistic fitness programme, it is also available in stainless steel and with a black dial – as the Lady in Black. This places it in the footsteps of what has since become the most successful Da Vinci in the classical size, Reference 3750, and which – if you will pardon the expression – has also become one of the most desirable ladies’ watches in the top-of-the-range mechanical category.

Even in the ladies’ watch sector, stainless steel has for some time no longer been seen as an expression of stylish understatement, but rather as a mega trend, and all the more so in combination with precise watchmaking technology. The small Da Vinci has acquired the following features on the way: an accurate quartz movement for people who prefer to forget about winding. As a mechanical chronograph with a quartz controlled stepping motor, including elapsed time recording up to twelve hours, it is suitable for many applications. The two side buttons are provided for ease of operation.

The moon phase display brings a little celestial mechanics into play with the time. The date display with its rapid adjustment facility imparts order in the daily routine, and the convex sapphire glass and the screw-in crown ensure security – water resistance to 30 metres. The small Da Vinci in stainless steel is available with a black leather strap or, if preferred, with a stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp.

Dubey & Schaldenbrand Spiral-Verso VIP Chronograph (2006)

Launched by Dubey & Schaldenbrand in 2006, the "Spiral-Verso VIP" chronograph is a unique timepiece which moves in 3 dimensions. It is possible to wear on your wrist this chronograph which changes face according to your desires or to place it on your desktop for all to view, as well.

An exclusive invisible mechanism in the steel watch-case allows the watch to make 3-dimensional movements. By pressing the 2 buttons at 12 o’clock, the watch is freed to take up the desired positions on its 3 axes.

Thanks to the hand engraving on the various bridges by the expert craftsmen, each watch is unique. Never do the craftsman's fingers reproduce exactly the same arabesques. The coat of arms of Les Ponts-de-Martel is represented by a bridge (“les ponts”) and the watchmaker's hammer, engraved on each movement. This historical detail reminds us that more than 150 years ago in this village a host of watchmakers were busy with timekeeping.

It is only fitting that a mechanical case complication such as this should come from this picturesque village in the Jura Mountains. As far back as 1848, Les Ponts de-Martel was involved in the manufacturing of timepieces with two companies manufacturing lever-assortments for the emerging Swiss watchmaking industry. In 1902, there was one factory alone that supplied more than 500,000 balances. Various tourbillon carriages of old were prepared in this village and what about Major Benoît's miniature paintings on enamel dials?

This high precision chronograph is shock-absorbent, tells the time, indicates the 24 hours, minutes and hours, the day and date, the month plus the phases of the moon. In the center, the chronograph hand is fitted with an original "royal blue" spiral from 1946, the year of the establishment of Dubey & Schaldenbrand. This "vintage" spiral turns on its axis fixed by a collet. It enhances this timepiece which will faithfully mark all the hours of your life. The watch is waterproof to 30 meters. It is fitted with a unique strap of Royal Galuchat and supplied in a deluxe presentation case of inlaid precious wood.

GoS Watches: Brand Profile, History and Products

The partnership between the bladesmith Johan Gustafsson and watchmaker Patrik Sjögren aims to provide truly unique watches with inspiration from the cold north of Scandinavia. The amount of handcraft involved in the production of the GoS watches is very high. Many parts are made of hand forged Damascus steel including the dial, crown and for the automatic watches, the rotor. Even the case itself is shaped by hand in the first GoS models. This means that every GoS watch is truly one of a kind. The watches are numbered according to the production sequence and are given a name that is inspired by the look and feel of the dial pattern.

GoS "Predator" watch - with a twisted Damascus pattern

The movement that GoS chose for the first models is the well known ETA movement 6498 and 6497, formerly Unitas. This movement was designed in the 1950s and has received more attention in the last few years as the fashion for larger cases allows fitting large movements in wrist watches. The 6497 and 6498 calibers has become regarded as one of the best pocket watch movements ever designed, for their ruggedness and accuracy. The stainless steel case is glass blasted and coated with an industry strength titanium PVD. The titanium case back has a large glass that offers full view of the beautifully finished movement.

Gos "Fire"Watch - with a firestorm Damascus pattern

GoS also offers uniquely customized handcrafted watches in addition to the available models. Customers can request patterns and colors based on the broad range of Damascus techniques shown in Johan Gustafsson´s knife production. The name of the watch will also, as with the knives, be possible for the customer to suggest.

The GoS watches are delivered in an exclusive wooden box together with a framed certificate with the watch name and specifications. Every certificate has a unique design based on the name of the watch and its color scheme.

Gos Colored Damascus steel dial

Johan Gustafsson
Johan has always been fascinated by steel crafting and since he now lives at a beautiful and historically rich location in Norsholm, there’s always a proximity to the heritage left behind by the Vikings. From his house by the water, Johan can even see the site where remnants from an ancient weapon forge were found. During his long career as a bladesmith there’s always been clear goals of creativity and constant improvement. All this experience and ambition is now infused in every single GoS watch. The vast possibilities of Damascus steels are widely known. Using Swedish tool steels Johan is steadily finding new ways to forge new inspirational creations.

Patrik Sjögren
With a Ms. Sc. degree in Computer Science and Engineering and a particular expertise in computer security - Patrik has a sharp edge for minute details and an unshaken focus. For as long as he can remember his curiosity and mechanical talent has made him exceptionally good at problem-solving regarding his fascination toward mechanics. Patrik graduated from the Swedish watchmaker school in 2007 and received a medal for high grades as one of the best in his class. He achieved both Swedish and Swiss Wostep watchmaker certificates and was also granted a scholarship resulting in a Breitling certificate.

Maurice Lacroix Watches : Brand Profile, History and Products

The name Maurice Lacroix stands for decades of experience in the production of high-quality watches. With complex manufacture movements, outstanding innovation and distinctive design, Maurice Lacroix enriches the world of exclusive timepieces.

Maurice Lacroix has set itself a clear objective: creating extraordinary timepieces through consistent preservation of the long tradition of the Swiss watchmaking art and meeting its high standards as well as through its own, innovative complications and movement developments, contemporary design and a heightened passion for detail, perfection and quality. With this commitment, the brand has, since the middle of the 1980s, made an essential, indispensable contribution to the renaissance of the mechanical timepiece.

Since the early 1990s, Maurice Lacroix has been focusing its efforts on developing attractive additional functions with lavish, surprising mechanisms. Important milestones for the brand history include the year 2003 and its Masterpiece Double Rétrograde, with a highly complex mechanism for this model’s retrograde indications developed entirely in-house, and the conceptual design of a ¾-bridge used for the first time for the Masterpiece Lune Rétrograde in 2005.Its high quality manufacture movements and the production of complex components for mechanical calibres in its own workshops at Montfaucon, near Saignelégier, propelled Maurice Lacroix into the rank of an exclusive Swiss manufacture brand in 2006.

Today, Maurice Lacroix can look back on a remarkable series of innovative developments and is able to demonstrate outstanding expertise especially in the area of chronographs as well as retrograde displays and moon phase indications. This is instantiated not least by the ML 106 manufacture movement, an exclusive chronograph calibre, but above all by the Mémoire 1: With the Memory function, which found its initial application in this strictly limited chronograph, Maurice Lacroix has, in the year 2008, officially presented an entirely new Grande Complication.

The Maurice Lacroix research and development department and workshops in Saignelégier are among the industry’s most modern. Here, all factors critical to the successful production of excellent watches converge: creativity, watchmaking expertise, skilled craftsmanship, industrial know-how, technological capabilities, and, not least, a pronounced sense of quality. Some 90,000 timepieces leave the workshops in Saignelégier every year, finding their way to demanding customers all over the world.

Maurice Lacroix is one of the few independent Swiss watch manufacturers with subsidiaries in Germany, Great Britain, and the United States, and has its own watch ateliers, manufacture workshops, and a case fabrication plant. Headquartered at Saignelégier in Switzerland’s Jura Mountains, the Group has around 265 employees. Maurice Lacroix timepieces are available at about 3,300 selected retail shops in over 70 countries.

Creative Contribution to the World of Mechanical Timepieces
The experience, expertise and proficiency of designers, engineers, constructors and watchmakers were gathered together under the name of “L’Atelier de Maurice Lacroix”. This new creative cell is where revolutionary ideas for movements and complications, which are setting new benchmarks in the history of the brand and of mechanical timekeeping, are born. Maurice Lacroix will incorporate the innovations garnered from this watchmaking art into its successful collections. The first result to emerge from the Atelier’s creative efforts is the Mémoire 1, which Maurice Lacroix presented at Baselworld 2008. In this strictly limited chronograph, a new Grande Complication, entirely developed by Maurice Lacroix, is used: The first memory function in a mechanical watch.

Maurice Lacroix Mémoire 1

Tissot PRS516 Retrograde Chronograph Quartz Watch

A stunning model in the popular PRS 516 line, based on the world of four-wheel motorsport, the PRS516 Retrograde has something truly different to offer. The fan-shaped counters of 60 minutes and 5 minutes and the chequered flag motif around the top hemisphere of the dial, adds to the striking design of this timepiece, the yellow and white of the tachymeter and counters standing out boldly against the black dial.

With its exclusive “retrograde” movement, this watch is another technological “first”, again combining cutting-edge design with the spirit of innovation: the trademark of the Tissot brand for over 150 years. The central second hand is set at 9 o’clock and it works “backwards” over 30 seconds anti-clockwise. After the first 30 seconds the counter at 2 o’clock moves on one place, to show the first 30 seconds elapsed, and this 10 times until 5 minutes have passed. After 5 minutes the counter at 10 o’clock moves on one place showing that 5 minutes have passed and so one up to 60 minutes. After 2 hours the chronograph function will stop and return to its original position.

The watch comes with the characteristic bracelet of the PRS516 line with its holes that recall the holes in the sports car’s steering wheel, the holes here coloured yellow to match the yellow design. The bold brushed steel case, with polished sids, also has this same steering wheel engraved on the back.

Arnold & Son True North Perpetual Complication Watch Limited Edition

Representing the culmination of lengthy, meticulous research, the complex True North Perpetual is a unique achievement in the contemporary watch making history. Strongly influenced by the work of 18th century English master watch maker John Arnold, this accomplishment fulfills an ambition to create a wrist watch inspired by the earth in its role as a cosmic clock.

The True North Perpetual watch was jointly developed by the team of Arnold & Son, watch brand of English origin and Geneva watch maker Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, of Agenhor SA by utilizing cutting edge development and production technologies. The team has accomplished several highly original feats in order to achieve the result of true solar time.
Using the revolutionary technology of gears with elastic toothing, the movement is also equipped with a three level going train comprising an interior toothing patented by Agenhor SA. The finely decorated movement features the "1764" secret signature appearing as an open worked engraving on one of its wheel bars. The entire complicated movement is driven by the famous 7 day power reserve produced by Jaquet SA exclusively for Arnold & Son. Protected by an international patent and several registered designs, the Arnold & Son True North Perpetual Complication watch will remain a legendary land mark in the history of horological inventions for wristwatches.

Devised by Eric A.Loth, the initiator of the renewal of some venerable brand of English origin, and creator of the famous Arnold & Son Longitude Watch, the True North Perpetual Complication reflects a symbiosis of time, within which human civil time and globe as a cosmic clock are brought together within a wrist watch for the very first time.

Powered by a hand wound movement with seven day power reserve, this complicated watch is equipped with a perpetual calendar taking account of leap years, a moon phase display calculated on a 29.5 day lunar cycle, a 24 hour time zone indication capable of also showing the mean solar time, and finally the with a double equation of time display (equation segment and running equation indication, both giving the difference between true solar time and mean solar time.

Zannetti Time of Drivers “Racing Edition” Full Black

The endless research carried on by ZANNETTI’s experts and the constant cooperation with the best italian and international laboratories allowed to improve a metal plasma processing, the PECVD (Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapour Deposition).

This enabled the brand to develop a low temperature oxidation on the watchcase. To be more precise, we are speaking about the formation of functional groups on the surfaces to obtain a black finishing creating a great aesthetic and visual impact, but also with a major hardness compared to the initial state of the metal, with a low coefficient of friction, antiprinting and biocompatible.

So this is how the ZANNETTI’s Racing Edition transforms itself in a powerful instrument for time keeping, suitable for any use, perfectly in line with modern and dynamic lifestyle.

Tissot Water Lily

A flower of peace and well being, universally admired, and legendarily born out of love, the water lily unfolds its corolla of pointed petals. Truly feminine beauty transposed into this Tissot gold creation, the golden petals are attached to the wrist with a slim patent leather strap and surround at their heart a mother of pearl dial with a solitary diamond at 12 – a delightful watch for women of all ages.

In the language of flowers, the water lily symbolizes purity of heart and for the Buddhist and Hindu cultures in its lotus form it represents purity of body, speech, and mind, floating above the muddy waters of attachment and desire. The origins of the flower can be found in legends around the world from a star falling from the heavens in Indian folklore, to the transformation of beautiful love-struck maidens for Amazonian and Greek legend, or, for the Ancient Egyptians, creation itself, as the flower rose from the watery chaos at the beginning of time.

In a choice of yellow or rose 18ct gold, with matt or polished finish, the corolla of pointed petals, with at their heart the tender pink of the mother of pearl dial, draws the eye to this unusual timepiece, symbol of tranquility. With a shimmering white leather strap for summer freshness, or a dark green, red or black patent leather strap for a bolder statement, this Tissot ladies’ model is certain to attract attention. The final touch – a solitary diamond at 12H – gives to this timepiece an ultimate touch of feminine elegance.

Magrette Timepieces : Brand Profile , History and Products

"Magrette Timepieces" is a boutique watch company based in Auckland (City of Sails), New Zealand.

They produce watches in restricted batches at a time to focus on creating quality product for their customers. The brand has been founded by Dion Wynyard McAsey - former Managing Director of a Creative Agency. Design of watches are inspired from simplicity of the past, New Zealand's rich culture and passion in yachting. First model from the company was the Marcus Chronograph Manual Wind.

The MAGRETTE story began while Dion Wynyard McAsey was working as Managing Director of a Creative Agency. He was busy working on designs for a French-Canadian watch company when the inkling of an idea was born...why not build a watch brand?.

Dion Wynyard McAsey was inspired by older world & the stories in the lines on the faces of elderly people and he liked the simplicity of the past. He decided that his vision of a timepiece that wouldn`t be influenced by trends, but something that was time tested & true. Indeed, something that might still be stylish when our grand kids are all growing up.

One day by chance, McAsey glimpsed a name that spoke these words to him - Mysterious, Alluring, Old World, Strong – that name was MAGRETTE (MAR-GRET- TEE). Next had to come the New Zealand connection. As a fan of classic yachts McAsey knew his brand had to associate itself with yachting.

The Magrette emblem promotes its design philosophy and heritage. The logo combines the strength and protection offered by the shield with the poignant symbolism of the Koru. Magrette cases have to be strong and bold in their design to protect the intricate automatic movements . The koru complements this synergy beautifully with its suggestion of perpetual movement carried in the unfurling of a fern frond - a symbolism unique to traditional New Zealand culture.

MAGRETTE timepieces are strong, robust and made for everyday wear. The design is based on 'classic modern'.The brand uses genuine mechanical movements and produce timepieces in small batches at a time. All Magrette watches come with a 12 month guarantee so in the unlikely event of there being a malfunction, components are quickly replaced at no cost to the customer.
