The town of Como is synonymous with Mediterranean joie de vivre and the tradition of light, carefree enjoyment of life’s true pleasures. For Gübelin, realising dreams using select and exclusive coloured gemstones has always been a passion. Every year new lines are created: custom designs, sensual and elegant creations that flatter the woman fortunate enough to wear them. Chrono24, the world most popular online marketplace for high quality luxury watches

There are almost one billion US dollars’ worth of luxury watches currently looking for new owners on Chrono24 (www.chrono24.com).  Dealers from sixty-two countries are offering luxury watches from famous brands such as Rolex, Omega, IWC and Breitling, plus rare new models, well-kept vintage timepieces, and even NOS or new old stock sold as brand-new antiques. There is also a TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph worth more than almost 4,000 US Dollar looking for a new owner, a watch that Chrono24 is offering in a raffle for every newly registered user on the platform. Registration is free on Chrono24 – and at almost three thousand watches advertised in all of the major collections, TAG Heuer is an extremely sought-after traditional Swiss watchmaking brand.

Chrono24's services attract more than four million people every month, and the numbers are growing – "The luxury watch market is always moving with interest burgeoning all over the world," said Chrono24 CEO Tim Stracke; "brands such as Rolex, Omega, and Patek Philippe are very much thought of as a stable investment especially at times of financial crisis, attracting buyers in ever increasing numbers." The Chrono24 platform has been on the market since 2003, and has since managed to hold its own against the competition from auction portals; factors include high quality, expressly eschewing the many cheap brands that have appeared specifically to cater to online trading with unrealistic price recommendations.

Buyers choose which dealers to place their trust in from just under a thousand in total worldwide. To keep it transparent, Chrono24 provides information on every dealer, such as how long a dealer has been a Chrono24 user or whether it also has a bricks-and-mortar retail outlet. Buying agents – established and independent experts providing professional assistance by phone or e-mail in watch selection, purchasing and follow-up – are available to anyone requiring these services.

Chrono24  is the world most popular online marketplace for high quality luxury watches with more than 100,000 offers from over 70 countries. Almost 1,000 permanent and professional dealers as well as several thousand individual private-sellers offer luxury watches of all brands – Omega, IWC, Rolex, Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, Longines, Lange & Söhne, Glashütte Original, Zenith and many more. Chrono24 has more than three million page views per month, selling vintage watches, NOS pieces (New Old Stock) as well as new and unworn in safe kept watches. Safety is an issue of great importance: Before the dealers are allowed to trade on the online marketplace, they are strictly checked.

RJ-ROMAIN JEROME - "DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS" Limited Edition

Every year in Mexico, celebrations honouring the dead brighten up the whole country. Classified as part of UNESCO’s "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity" since 2003, the "Día de los Muertos" is the most important date in the Mexican calendar.  RJ-Romain Jerome has decided to take its turn celebrating the Day of the Dead with a timepiece available in two different versions, both issued in 25-piece limited editions.

Calling upon its watchmaking skill, RJ’s inspiration for the dial of this watch dedicated to the "Día de los Muertos" was drawn from traditional Mexican decorations. A carefully hand-crafted colourful applique adorned with a champlevé decoration, cold enamelled in different colours, emulates the look of the "calaveras" – the skulls made of sugar given away by the Mexicans as good luck tokens during the entire festival.
The seven colours on the applique are a reminder of the seven stages through which the soul of the dead must pass before being able to rest in peace. The case is made of black PVD-coated steel, associated with a bezel and "paws" in black ceramic. The mirror-polished dial features an engraving of the brand’s emblematic X shape, along with the applied RJ logo.

The watch is fitted with a black Hornback alligator strap. The sombre colours of these different elements evoke those of darkness and make a striking with the bright colours of the skull-shaped applique.

RADO DiaStar 50th Anniversary Limited Edition

In 2012, Swiss watch brand Rado celebrates the anniversary of the legendary Rado DiaStar model. Over the course of a half century, a deep-rooted desire to create lasting beauty has repeatedly led Rado to develop breakthrough materials, including hardmetal, high-tech ceramic, high-tech diamond and Ceramos™. First presented in 1962, the striking design and unprecedented use of hardmetal in the Rado DiaStar established the brand’s reputation as an innovator and industry benchmark for durability and iconic design.

The Rado DiaStar was inspired by a unique vision and the desire to transform purity and beauty into a watch of unparalleled durability and resilience. This desire challenged the skills and imagination of the Rado designers: In theory, hardmetal’s exceptional physical properties—its ability to withstand extreme compressive pressure and its resistance to oxidation, mechanical and thermal stress—made it an appropriate material for a scratch-resistant watch case. In practice, hardmetal proved extremely difficult to work with, and it would take all of the brand’s visionary audacity to achieve success. In the end, the revolutionary design showed how the use of a new material could help create a new aesthetic ideal. The design of the Rado DiaStar, and of all Rado creations since, underscore the intrinsic qualities of the materials used, which in turn enhance the visual richness of the watches.

The Rado DiaStar was the crowning achievement of years of pioneering experiments and trials devoted to the development of new shapes and surfaces. A composite made of tungsten carbide powder and a metal binder, hardmetal is moulded and pressed at a pressure of 1,000 bar to form the rough case, which is then sintered in a vacuum furnace at 1,450°C. This process resulted in an incredible hardness of 1,400 to 2,000 Vickers, and brilliance, after polishing with diamond dust that would only add lustre. The concept requiring unprecedented hardness led to a new emphasis on the glass as well, which needed to be as robust as the casing. Sapphire crystal proved to be the solution, with the result that the Rado DiaStar, and all Rado watches since, feature sapphire crystal.

50th Anniversary Limited Edition
In 2012, Rado celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Rado DiaStar with a replica edition. Made of hardmetal and sapphire crystal, like the first edition in 1962, the Rado DiaStar Anniversary Edition is offered in a limited and numbered edition of 1,962 pieces.

The Rado DiaStar pays tribute to the power of a visionary idea and to the courage it required to make it real. A timeless inspiration, it is presented in a special, classic deep green coloured Rado watch box, inspired by the original from 1962. Included with this limited edition timepiece is a pair of cufflinks with an integrated Rado signature moving anchor symbol.

RADO D-Star Automatic Collection

Swiss watch brand RADO unveils the new D-Star model inspired from the DiaStar timepiece, which made a startling debut of uncompromising scratch-resistance of fifty years ago. The new generation Rado D-Star, like its iconic predecessor, couples inspired design with innovative material breakthroughs: the two generations are united by their unique oval case shape and material innovations. Together they tell the story of relentless research leading to the use of new materials for unprecedented design innovation.

Its fundamental commitment to innovation in materials and design has led Rado to use three different materials in the Rado D-Star collection: high-tech ceramic, Ceramos™ and carbon diffused steel.

Hardmetal, the scratch-resistant material used in the creation of the Rado DiaStar, is relatively heavy, which spurred Rado on to develop a lighter, scratch-resistant material. In the 1980s Rado pioneered high-tech ceramic, which, in the Rado D-Star represents a statement of intrinsic modernity and ultimate wearer comfort. Further developments in this field have led to the innovation of black, white, as well as platinum-coloured plasma treated high-tech ceramic offering varied style and design alternatives.

Like hardmetal, Ceramos™, an extremely hard yet lightweight material, required years of dedicated research and development to render it apt for watchmaking. A high-tech ceramic and metal composite, Ceramos™ incorporates the optimal properties of both elements to achieve enhanced comfort and durability. As a result of intensive research undertaken by Rado to push the boundaries of innovation, carbon diffused steel was introduced into the Rado D-Star collection. This steel hardened by the diffusion of carbon is obtained through a heat treatment, resulting in a surface of exceptional brightness and a hardness of 1,000 to 1,200 Vickers.

Its history and innovative spirit encourage Rado to push the limits of technology and materials to extremes. With the Rado D-Star, materials and developments in science and technology have released unprecedented design potential. High-tech ceramic and Ceramos™ have made it possible to create lightweight, scratch-resistant watches that adjust to the wearer’s body temperature, enabling new levels of comfort.

Pure and streamlined, the Rado D-Star is the epitome of power and simplicity with its round dial in a sharp, faceted ellipse case, enhanced by a perfectly integrated bracelet. This extensive collection comprises over 50 style, size, movement and material declinations, all of which satisfy the desire for a watch that will stand the test of time. Five decades of modern design find expression in a contemporary collection that continues to evolve.

Meccaniche Veloci - Corsa Corta

Meccaniche Veloci, the Italian luxury watch company, which is now famous worldwide for its celebrated Quattro Valvole, revolutionises its collection range by introducing a new version that is completely different from the famous piston with four dials. The Corsa Corta, a hand winding three hands, that partially reveals the movement enclosed inside the case inspired by the naked motorcycle. The fulcrum of the Corsa Corta collection is the single dial which comes in several colours and the feature of an opening next to the winding shaft to reveal the watch mechanism in pure naked style.
A ETA 6497 (UNITAS) hand winding movement is assembled inside equipped with a screw crown to guarantee waterproofing up to 10 atmospheres The watch is available in several versions: one with a titanium case, also available in titanium with brown finishing, and one with a steel case with black finishing.
In order to create this watch, Meccaniche Veloci has combined aggressive materials and an innate passion for motorcycles. In fact, the name Corsa Corta is inspired by a type of engine where the diameter of the piston is larger than the stroke, a main feature of high performances engines. The distinctive Meccaniche Veloci shapes have successfully interpreted a new piece of the world of high performance motors, in a unique object in the world of watches.

Glashütte Original Boutique - Dresden, Germany

Opened on the last week of Oct 2012 in Dresden, this is the first boutique of  luxury watch brand Glashütte Original  in Germany . Following an extensive search for the optimal location, the company chose the QF Passage in the heart of Dresden. The new 100 m2 boutique, the first in Germany to implement the renowned brand's current boutique concept, welcomes visitors in a unique way, inviting them to discover the art of watchmaking from Glashütte through a multimedia approach.

The atmosphere of the new shop in the Töpferstraße 4 is purposefully transparent and welcoming. Glass walls on two sides offer visitors a clear view of the interior, and shoppers may enter from both sides of the boutique as well. The signature look of the new salesroom presents the German Manufactory's values: technical perfection, modern design and timeless elegance. Carefully chosen materials, an assured and stylish interior and the clearly contemporary concept render the Saxon watch brand's essential features both visible and tangible.
The design of the boutique in clearly minimalist and its combination of dark moor oak, beige enamel surfaces and light-coloured leather creates a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The interior's soft, flowing forms enclose the space within a perfect frame.

The new space in Dresden resembles an interactive exhibition of the art of German watchmaking more than it does a traditional boutique. Given its proximity to company headquarters in Glashütte, the concept placed particular emphasis on the presentation surfaces. It was necessarythat the "handmade in Germany" quality so evident in the Manufactory be equally apparent toboutique visitors in Dresden. This led to the construction, exclusively for the Töpferstraße venue in Dresden, of a special interactive "Manufactory Wall".

A large magnifying glass gives visitors a clear view – from the smallest of watch components to simple sub-assemblies – of the Saxon watchmaker's milestones in the form of fascinating watches. Short films highlighting aspects of the production process enhance the visitor's insights into the microcosm of a watch.

In a luxuriously appointed lounge area the interior designer has installed an innovative presentation system in the form of two complementary plasma screens. The interactive system is controlled by a touchpad built into a table in the lounge. The visitor can select a variety of topics, including high-resolution images from the Glashütte Original collection as well as videos showing the company and the production of its high-end "Handmade in Germany" timepieces.

All questions from boutique visitors are handled by a competent and multilingual team. To ensure that customers are offered optimal service, team members attended a training course lasting several weeks at the Manufactory in Glashütte. In future a watchmaker will join them at the boutique; further enhancing service by handling matters involving warrantees, maintenance and repair.

With its new location in Dresden the high end German watchmaker Glashütte Original now has a total of six own boutiques. The other venues are in Paris, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

Mathon Paris Jewellery Collection– "New Bulle” & "Bracelets Paris"

French jewellery brand Mathon Paris has unveiled its new pure line collection of contemporary elegance, known as "New Bulle" (New Bubble).  The collection is part of the brand's "Timeless" range. It includes narrow colourful rings in wavy shapes, to wear alone like a wedding ring or in combination. The rings can be superimposed, using complementary colours, matching the ring to the outfit or mood of the day. From clear sapphire to violet sapphire, yellow sapphire to tsavorites garnet, including the more subtle shades of champagne diamond, there's a whole range of colours to light up the hand!

The all diamond version goes very well with the brighter shades. It can also be worn alone, as a discreet sign of elegance. A light, closed setting delicately highlights the gemstones and appears like so many tiny soap bubbles floating away.

ZRC
It's been a busy second half of the year for Zuccolo Rochet France Company. In order to face the growth in its activities, has transferred its head office and all its departments to an all-new 3 000m² building in Chavanod, a town close to Annecy (Haute-Savoie).

In July 2012, Zuccolo Rochet France acquired the "Olivier de SaintLoup" company, which specialises in silver jewellery for women. The brand of the same name is well established within the specialist retailer’s network.  Around fifty new designs are created every season by the Parisian workshops located on place Vendôme. The Olivier de SaintLoup style combines a touch of glamour with a hint of craziness. The high jewellery spirit of its creations combines with a more "rock" look, combining volumes and fineness, rich details and originality.

The objective of Zuccolo Rochet France is, in addition to the loyalty of the current retail network, to convert 500 new sales outlets within the next 18 months, and to launch the brand abroad thanks to its exclusive subsidiaries and distributors.

"Official timekeeper for the Student Yachting World Cup –Yacht Timer Watch"

The 2012 event, which was held from 29th October to 3rd November in La Rochelle, saw students from the world's greatest universities racing against each other.
For the event, Rochet developed a watch called the "Yacht Timer", designed specially for yachting enthusiasts – date, timer, and programmable count down to a regatta, alarm… - 100 examples of which were handed over by Rochet, present at the event, to members of the winning team and to the organising team.

DAVOSA Military Automatic

Swiss watchmaker DAVOSA unveils their new model, the Military Automatic inspired from the  designs of vintage pilot’s watches . The DAVOSA Military can be worn with a textile NATO or a hydrophobic (water-protected) leather strap, depending on the mission for which you need it – the watch comes with both strap options. The DAVOSA Military is now available in a military green or a black version, and retails at 598 euros.
DAVOSA has opted for a 40 millimetre, satined stainless steel case for its Military Automatic, which gives the timepiece its simple yet classic look. This is made more striking by scratch-resistant, convex sapphire glass, a large and handy crown, and a dial that recalls a cockpit dial. In particular the hands, the large hour markers and the date display in a ‘triple date’ format resemble the features of an aircraft altimeter.
The automatic movement is provided by a trusty Swiss ETA 2824-2 quality movement. The watch is protected against the ingress of water up to a depth of 200 metres thanks to its screwed steel back and doubly sealed crown. Good readability is ensured by large, luminous numbers and markers. The DAVOSA Military Automatic is thus perfectly primed for any special mission – whether conducted at night, above or below the water.

The Linea by Baume & Mercier is a special and unique watch since its launch in 1987, this collection, available in steel or two-tone, delivers what a woman is seeking- an attractive adornment that offers versatility in its look. As a preview of its new collections for SIHH 2013, Baume & Mercier announces two new automatic models from the Linea Collection.

Delicate and feminine, the new Linea Automatic, available in a 27 mm case, possesses the presence of a timeless gem with the elegance of simplistic time display. It is also imbued with the nobility inherent in watches powered by a Swiss mechanical caliber and automatically wound by the movements of its owner. An automatic movement visible through a transparent case back.
This iconic watch, with its bezel so distinctively engraved in steel or in steel trimmed with gold and carrying the hour figures, has now reinvented its own legend, choosing to partner an automatic movement with innate qualities that well deserve to be revealed through the transparent case back. This final choice will cast its spell over dynamic, multi-talented women, delighting those whose timeless penchant for watchmaking gems will express itself fully in using a movement reputed for passing unfailingly from one generation to the next. That’s why the Linea, a small miracle of sophistication, is worn on a steel or two-tone bracelet, designed with a flexibility that adapts to its wearer’s every movement without calling attention to itself. Yet this bracelet possesses a secret enabling it to adapt to every situation in life, thus meeting the expectations of all owners who are attached to their version of the Linea.

Baume & Mercier have invented a bracelet incorporating a patented mechanism that makes it simple to remove without any tools. The Geneva-based company has also created a whole series of interchangeable straps and bracelets in leather or satin-finish, on offer in a wide range of colors, making this watch unique and in harmony with the tastes of every woman who wears it as a tasteful accessory. Available in top-quality steel or in two-tone, these two new Linea watches are powered by a Swiss-made automatic mechanical movement with a time display including a direct-drive center second hand and a discreet date window at 6 o’clock in the mother-of-pearl dial set with 11 diamonds.

Piaget Opens their New Boutique at Etihad Towers, Abu Dhabi

Illustrious watch making brand, Piaget, recently opened the doors to its latest, exquisite boutique in Abu Dhabi’s high-end luxury shopping destination, Avenue at Etihad Towers. Taking place on the 27th of November, 2012, the boutique’s inauguration was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and member of the ruling family. Adding their grace to the event were Piaget’s first Middle East ambassador and guest of honor, renowned Arab singer Yara, along with the brand’s CEO Mr. Philippe Léopold-Metzger.

The theme of the boutique launch was reminiscent of Piaget’s exquisite new collection, the “Limelight Garden Party,” that made its debut at this year’s Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH). Visitors to the boutique will be able to view the elegantly charming collection as it will be available in store for the next three months. Inspired by a typical summer garden-party, the vivacious collection contains animated diamond-set birds and precious sparkly blossoms as the pieces transport you to a garden full of Emeralds and Diamonds with flashes of chalcedony and pink tourmalines. Lending its own touch of allure and grace to the boutique, the pulsating array of extraordinary pieces is a must have for every watch and jewellery connoisseur and a sight to behold in the spectacular boutique.
In a bid to create the perfect setting that reflected the “Limelight Garden Party” theme, a stunning garden pathway from the drop off point to the boutique was fashioned for the event with five models adorned in the High Jewellery collections, stationed in a large structure resembling a birdcage. Further embellishments were added with picturesque park benches and plants, flawlessly working together to replicate a beautifully pleasant garden party. Sweet sounds swathed the boutique as a live harpist regaled guests while she worked her magic on the instrument nearby.

While Piaget’s boutiques have always echoed the brand’s grace and sophistication, this one goes a step further as it follows in the footsteps of Harrods in London and also of Zurich, Switzerland to become the third new boutique worldwide to open with Piaget’s latest architectural concept. Spanning 156 square metres, Piaget’s new architectural identity has been created by Christine Querlioz from Paris’ renowned “Atelier Sasha,” who is credited with covering the design and implementation of concepts for numerous prestigious clients in addition to Piaget. Conveying a discreet elegance that is sensed rather than seen, the new architecture pays tribute to the rich Swiss identity and legacy of the brand that has made it an inimitable signature in Haute Horlogerie since 1874.

Christine Querlioz’s new concept invites you to embark on an evocative journey through the Piaget universe. Illuminating the assorted facets of Piaget, contrasting materials in gloss and matte have been accented with theatrical lighting on exceptional pieces. Dressed in black and gold, with subtle touches of opulence inspired by the Viennese Secession period, the new architectural concept intensifies a feeling of preciousness and of the meticulous care lavished on the creation of each piece.

The latest Piaget boutique’s dwelling at a location such as Avenue at Etihad Towers is truly an ideal combination of magnificence and extravagance. Spread over two levels, Avenue at Etihad Towers presents a selectionof prestigious international brands that make it the preferred shopping destination for enthusiasts of unique luxury items.

An epitome of refinementand class, Piaget’s new boutique perfectly highlights the alliance and distinctive nature of Haute Horlogerie and Haute Joaillerie, two skills that Piaget has acquired and mastered.

Girard-Perregaux Unveils Limited Edition Timepiece in Partnership with FOReverglades for Miami Art Week

Girard-Perregaux, iconic luxury Swiss watch brand, supported FOReverglades, an environmentally minded public art exhibition by International Artists William Sweetlove and artists’ collective, Cracking Art Group, for Art Week in Miami.

Though the exhibit opened for the public on November 30th, December 5th was a special evening in which the brand unveiled a limited edition timepiece inspired by FOReverglades for Art Week. The watch was presented in an exclusive breakfast and cocktail at Miami’s iconic Freedom Tower, where guests were also able to enjoy Sweetlove’s art.

The introduction of this timepiece is also of particular significance for the brand as it also unveils their new Hawk collection, a sport collection including both diver watches and chronographs. The Hawk FOReverglades features a steel case housing a Girard-Perregaux Manufacture mechanical with automatic winding movement. The strap is done in white with the red crocodiles from FOReverglades prominently featured.

Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 XXL Chronograph

When Haute Horlogerie meets the decorative arts, time takes on another dimension. The sober lines of the new Vintage 1945 XXL Chronograph evoke the aesthetic heritage of the early twentieth century that Girard-Perregaux has so consistently espoused. At its heart, the GP03300 self-winding manufacture caliber happily measures short intervals of time with the precision you expect from the great.

In a vibrant tribute to Art Deco, the straight lines melt into curves and back again in perfect balance. Fashioned in pink gold or steel, the rectangular case places the Art Deco’s notion of geometry at the heart of its design. Its generous size is compensated by an ergonomically convex silhouette which makes it comfortable to wear. Alternately polished and satin-brushed, the subtle finish showcases the watch’s functions.

The two chronograph counters face each other and assert the piece’s symmetry. The blued steel hands match the central seconds hand, while the hours and minutes are measured by dauphine style hands. The applied Arabic numerals recall the refinement of classic watches, and the “railroad” minute track recalls the original Vintage 1945. The curved dial is an appropriate space for the measurement of time and a crowning touch for the style of the watch.

The sapphire case-back opens on to the cunning mechanism entirely designed, manufactured and assembled in-house by the Manufacture at La Chaux-de-Fonds. The caliber GP03300 reveals its Haute Horlogerie pedigree, hand finished as tradition demands, in between the sweeps of its gold oscillating weight. Evidently, elegance does not show its age. While the new Vintage 1945 XXL Chronograph is a resolutely modern watch, every aesthetic and technical detail points to the expertise of a brand that draws on a constantly renewed heritage going back over two centuries.

Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Steel

The Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye collection, one of the most loyal ambassadors of ladies’ watches, now enters the scene in a redesigned steel case with an elegant dial that is totally feminine.

The Cat’s Eye has conquered its public with its oval shape that gives time an unmistakable, immediately recognizable personality. Without ever losing its identity, its watchmaking complications are adorned with diamonds, perfectly reflecting a woman's multiple facets, her various roles in daily life, her aspirations and her sensitivity. Now, produced in steel, the Cat’s Eye takes on a different appearance.

First of all, its modern silhouette is both subtle and generous. The horns stretch around the diameter that has been enlarged to satisfy today’s preference, while the bezel changes shape, ensuring that its diamonds catch the light and the eye. Encircled by precious stones, the dial is line of poetry, taking the woman as inspiration. The sparkling colors of champagne or silver present their sun-brushed finish. A numeral at 12 is accompanied by applied, elongated teardrop markers that bring real fluidity to the hour circle. Facing the small seconds counter, the date at 3 o’clock appears in a window that echoes the shape of the case.  Lastly, the power reserve is indicated in a constellation of stars.

Behind its delicate appearance is an elegant mechanism; an automatic movement with an oscillating weight, specially designed for the occasion, that can be seen through the Cat’s Eye’s sapphire crystal case back. Embellished with a tapestry of the GP initials, it swings proudly above a plate and bridges that are decorated with Côtes de Genève, a finish traditionally associated with fine watchmaking. A delicate bracelet adds the final touch to a piece that embodies the innate grace and sparkle of contemporary women.

They show the determination that any new challenge demands.  Daring, pure-bred, uncompromising, they are the watches in the new sport collection by Girard-Perregaux: Hawk. They exude energy in an uncompromisingly avant-garde design forged by a manufacturing expertise that dates back to 1791. Two models: one a chronograph, the other for diving – launch a new line that boldly takes its place in the heritage of the brand.

Hawk: the very word connotes animal elegance, cunning, wisdom — and power. Much like the watches that carry the name, Sea Hawk and Chrono Hawk, it makes an unmistakable statement and confirms the position of Girard-Perregaux in the highly competitive world of top-level sports watches. It is also a reminder of the brand’s experience in this field: in 1880 it began the first volume production of military wristwatches, and in the 1940s it launched the first generation of Sea Hawk.

The new Hawk collection has inherited all this expertise and has adopted the brand’s identity codes to position itself clearly in the 21st century. The tone is set by the imposing 44 mm diameter case in stainless steel. Athletic and vibrant, it embraces time with its bold angles, recalling the octagonal Laureato model. The fine edges of the case band, which present a special manufacturing challenge, hold the bezel in a firm grip. The watchstraps, whether in leather or high-tech rubber, are perfectly integrated into the case and are fitted with a new security buckle. The assertive personality of the watch is further confirmed by the dials: their clear, luminescent markers, indications in relief, and the decor inspired by the famous Girard-Perregaux Bridge create a three-dimensional effect in a striking exercise in perspective.

While these watches have been specially created to operate in the most demanding situations, the spirit of Girard-Perregaux has remained unchanged.  Its meticulous style, combining centuries of manufacturing tradition with a permanent commitment to innovation, is apparent in every detail of the design and manufacture of these watches. At their heart is a mechanical movement that, of course, has been entirely developed and produced in-house.

SEA HAWK
SEA HAWK is a professional grade diving watch with a staggering water resistance up to 1000 meters. Designed to withstand the rigors of deep SCUBA diving, this timepiece incorporates a helium valve for use during decompression and an anti-clockwise turning bezel for dive-time calculations. A series of tests is carried out to demonstrate its capacity to operate at a depth of 1,000 meters where the pressure is more than 1,500 kg. This is the level of water-resistance required to meet the rigorous standards of ISO 6425. The construction of the case, and particularly its screwed case back, give the watch excellent shock- resistance, as does the crown which is protected by a perfectly integrated crown guard and positioned at 4 o’clock for greater comfort on the wrist.

Its character is emphasized by the contrast between the elements in brushed steel and those in rubber – the bezel, the octagonal ring and the crown. The dial was primarily designed for legibility; it is black, underlined by a motif that echoes the emblematic Girard-Perregaux Bridge, with information on several levels. The markers and hands are coated with luminescent material and certain elements are highlighted with orange, such as the power reserve and the small seconds. The date is displayed at 1.30 o’clock creating a beautiful balance on the face.

There is no doubt that the new Sea Hawk earns its place among high-performance diving watches, confirmed by its automatic mechanical movement caliber GP3300.

CHRONO HAWK
The Chrono Hawk model features sharp edged case and a round bezel, its dial that emphasizes the measurement of short times, and its exceptional movement finished to the rigorous standards of Fine Watchmaking.

Its daring contemporary style plays with opposites: certain black elements underline the architectural nature of the watch, from the flange to the octagonal rubber ring that holds the satin-finish steel bezel. The crown and the push buttons impose an assertive character while the rubber-lined strap in leather, reveals a design that is meticulous in every detail.

The perfectly balanced, dial focuses on the timing information.  The two counters face each other at 3 and 9 o’clock in perfect symmetry.  The date at 6 o’clock, the applied markers, and the hour and minute hands are all luminescent. This classic arrangement is further enhanced by a motif, inspired by the famous Girard-Perregaux Bridge that covers the surface of the dial.

The mechanical, automatic-winding movement, calibre GP3300 that can be seen through the sapphire case-back, confirms this as a watch with very high performance.
