Carl F. Bucherer MANERO PowerReserve

Unveiled at Baselworld 2013, the new Manero PowerReserve integrates power reserve indication and the high-precision CFB A1011 Manufacture caliber, the timepiece combines high functionality and sophisticated technology.

The power reserve indication is a classic design element with tradition. Originally used in marine chronometers, this indication soon became established in wristwatches too. It indicates the current state of tension of the mainspring and states the remaining time the watch will continue to run, as a number of hours. The Manero PowerReserve has also made the functionality and design of the power reserve indication its own, creating a watch with a very special face.
On a round indication at 3 o’clock, a hand provides information about the remaining power reserve. As the power runs down, the hand moves into an area that is shaded red. Also visible at a glance are the day of the week at 9 o’clock, the particularly large big date at 11 o’clock, and the integrated small seconds at 6 o’clock.

The silver-colored dial is divided into an outer ring and an inner ring, which are differently colored. While all the functions are located in the light-colored inner circle, the darker outer circle is segmented by silver index marks. This varying visual aspect forms a pleasing transition to the stainless steel case, which has a diameter of 42,5 mm and a depth of 12.54 mm. The timepiece is beautifully complemented by a brown alligator-skin strap or stainless steel bracelet.

At the heart of the Manero PowerReserve is the Manufacture’s own automatic CFB A1011 caliber, which is integrated into a Manero for the first time in this model. As a further development of the CFB A1002 Manufacture caliber, the CFB A1011 shows the power reserve by means of a pointer, and in so doing draws on classic elements of watch design.

A special feature of the movement is the peripheral, bidirectional oscillating weight that supplies the automatic gear train with power. The patented dynamic shock absorber known as “Dynamic Shock Absorption” (DSA) provides maximum efficiency and reliability.

Carl F. Bucherer Alacria Diva Bamboo

Like the bamboo plant, the Alacria Diva Bamboo from Carl F. Bucherer symbolizes strength on the one hand, and grace and pure beauty on the other. This model from the Alacria family has an aura of extraordinary luxury and striking originality.

For centuries, the bamboo plant has been associated with many things. Thus in China it is a symbol of long life, while in India it is a sign of friendship. In the Philippines, farmers set up bamboo crosses to bring good luck, whereas in Japan the bamboo is a symbol of purity.  Even in today’s world, bamboo also has a very wide variety of uses: as a decoration for the home, in the construction of gardens and facades, and for eating and drinking.

And now – in the figurative sense – it is also being used in the watchmaking industry. Carl F. Bucherer has adopted the bamboo as a symbolic model for the creation of an exquisite watch. The result is a jewelry watch that is in the typically luxurious style of the Alacria range, yet has an extraordinary exoticism: the Alacria Diva Bamboo.
83 orange and black baguette-cut sapphires embody the slender forms of the bamboo on the white gold dial of the Alacria Diva Bamboo. Another attractive feature is the striking case made of white gold, which is also set with 90 orange and black baguette-cut sapphires and 239 round black sapphires. A single orange sapphire also decorates the gold crown.

The cutting of these long baguette-shaped gemstones is an extremely time-consuming and delicate process, requiring the fullest concentration on the part of the stone cutter. It is to this quality, and to the special color combination of the sapphires, that the Alacria Diva Bamboo owes its unique status in the world of watches. A further highlight is the orange strap made of fine Louisiana alligator skin and fitted with a white-gold pin buckle.

The exclusivity of the Alacria Diva Bamboo is not least due to its limited edition. The Lucerne-based watch Manufacture is producing just 10 copies, each with its own individual dial, at its workshops in Lengnau. The dial of each copy has its own individual design of orange and black baguette-cut gemstones. Thus each wearer of an Alacria Diva Bamboo has her own custom-made model.

Carl F. Bucherer Alacria TwoTone

With the Alacria TwoTone, Carl F. Bucherer presents a stunning new watch with a two-tone look. The fascinating interplay of silver-colored and rose gold facets conveys a graceful elegance and guarantees a brilliant and stylish look for the wearer.  The Alacria range from Carl F. Bucherer symbolizes femininity and perfect beauty. Finest-quality materials and a striking design frame the unique dial of this distinguished timepiece.

With its rectangular two-tone case and convex case flanks, the Alacria TwoTone remains true to the classic lines of the Alacria family. The timepiece harmoniously combines angular forms and longitudinal stripes with softer elements, the whole resulting in a brilliant and timeless piece of jewelry. The silver-colored dial, divided by two narrow light longitudinal stripes and one broad dark one, gives the Alacria TwoTone a classic elegance.
While all the other hours are represented as rose gold index marks, rose gold Roman numerals are used at 6 and 12 o’clock, and are tastefully framed by the central stripe. The stylish dial design is completed by the aristocratic hours and minutes hands in rose gold.

The bicolor look is skillfully continued in the bracelet and in the case, which is 26.5 mm x 38 mm in size with a depth of 7.4 mm, and is available with or without diamonds. Inside the Alacria TwoTone, the CFB 1850 quartz movement ensures high-precision timekeeping.

Carl F. Bucherer Patravi TravelTec FourX Limited Edition

Titanium, ceramic and rubber: with the Patravi TravelTec FourX Limited Edition, time takes on a new material format. These selected materials, together with 18 karat rose gold, make the 125-year Jubilee Collection from the Carl F. Bucherer a real talking point among watch enthusiasts.

In the Patravi TravelTec FourX Limited Edition model, the watchmakers at Carl F. Bucherer bring together not only different time zones but also different worlds – worlds of exquisite materials. Fine 18 K rose gold, paired with extra-hard high-tech ceramic, which sets the highest standards in the time-consuming process of forming the bezel. And high-quality titanium and highly resistant rubber also play their role in an extraordinary overall concept. For together, these four very different materials add yet another dimension to the fourth dimension of time: exclusivity.

The design of the Patravi TravelTec, which was first launched in 2006, created entirely new challenges for engineers, watchmakers and designers, since the specification required the clear and simultaneous indication of three time zones, necessitating for the first time ever the integration of movement and case. In the Patravi TravelTec, the case contains part of the time-zone selection mechanism, which is controlled in two directions by means of a single push-piece. The process can even be observed through a window that has been let into the side.
The time and effort put into the design is very much aimed at ease of operation. For example, the direction of travel (east or west) can be pre-selected on the multifunctional push-piece at 10 o’clock and each push causes a jump to the next time zone, the flange with its imprinted 24-hour scale turning in either direction to guarantee that the red hours hand always shows the correct local time.

Unlike other “world time watches”, the Patravi TravelTec is suitable both for frequent flyers and for those who communicate with people all over the world. Those entering another time zone will prefer to make an adjustment at once, moving the wedge-shaped hours-hand forward or backward an hour at a time. Those who frequently need to make calls to other time zones will value the combination of the 24-hours hand and the patented Patravi TravelTec mechanism, which allows selection of the time zone of the person called to see at a glance whether it is day or night there.

As far as its “instrument look” is concerned, the Patravi TravelTec FourX Limited Edition has nothing to hide. For this reason, the watchmakers have given it a skeletonized dial permitting a free view of the gearing of the painstakingly decorated automatic movement.

A visual delight is provided by the elegant date indication under an effective loupe: the figures are milled out of the date ring and remain invisible until they appear over a red background in the date window. The technical look of the overall appearance is reinforced by the colors. Matt black contrasts with noble rose gold, and the essential information on the dial stands out in bright red.

The new Modell Patravi TravelTec FourX, in a Limited Edition of 125, once again does honor to Carl F. Bucherer. This timepiece is designed as a tribute to the great visionary, the depth of his character and the creativity of his company. The founding year of his first watchmaking business is engraved on the watch’s case back. So the journey through time (zones) can begin.

Swiss watch brand MIDO expands the Commander collection with the new model: the Commander Lady Mother-Of-Pearl. Like all models from Commander collection, this ladies watch beautifully evokes the curves and oblique lines of the Eiffel Tower.

Equipped with an automatic movement, numerous aspects of this new model testify to a subtle evolution. A faceted and domed sapphire crystal protects the white mother-of-pearl dial, which lends a beautifully feminine touch to the Commander Lady Mother-of-Pearl. The faceted appliques are ingeniously reminiscent of the latticework of the Eiffel Tower.

The Commander Lady Mother-of-Pearl is equipped with a finely decorated and elaborate automatic movement. With a diameter of 33 mm and water-resistant up to a pressure of 5 bar (50 m / 165 ft), it will appeal to every woman who admires fine watchmaking and appreciates Swiss tradition and expertise.

The round satinated stainless steel case and polished bezel offer a discreet reminder of the curves and ironwork of the Eiffel Tower. A faceted and domed sapphire crystal protects the dial clad entirely in white mother-of-pearl, with hints of iridescence.

The shape of the faceted and applied indexes calls to mind the latticework of the Eiffel Tower. They are treated with white Super-LumiNova®, as are the hour and minute hands, for easy readability at night. The Commander Lady Mother-of-Pearl is fitted with a black semi-lacquered leather strap. ROAMER OF SWITZERLAND – Brand profile, History & Products

Since 1888, the traditional Swiss brand, ROAMER OF SWITZERLAND in Solothurn, has been producing quality materials and fine movements to meet the most demanding requirements for Swiss-made watches, combining sheer elegance, distinctive design and sporty functionality Established in 1888, ROAMER has kept its identity and independence as a Swiss watch maker and for the past 125 years has stood for the reliable innovation and exceptional quality of the classic Swiss watch. In 2013, the brand celebrated its 125’Th anniversary.

The beginning of the ROAMER story is the vision of a pioneer; Swiss industrialist Fritz Meyer (1859 – 1926) wanted to develop a solid but elegant watch with the aim of establishing it as a valuable accessory. To get a step closer to his dream, he opened a workshop in Solothurn in 1888, producing cylinder escapements for mechanical watches. With this the 29-year-old laid the foundation stone of the 125-year tradition of ROAMER.

The company grew substantially over the next seven years, producing complete watches as well as cylinder escapements. In 1897 Meyer achieved the first milestone in ROAMER’s history. Already employing a staff of 60, he built his first watch movement and in honour of his 38th birthday named it Kaliber No. 38.
At the turn of the century Meyer used the occasion of having produced his 500,000th watch movement to complete his dream: in 1905 he partnered with ambitious watch maker Johann Stüdeli and launched Meyer & Stüdeli. In 1908 the successful watch brand “Roamer” was registered as a trademark in Switzerland.

In the years following, the company specialised in the production of high-precision mechanical watch movements, which are named after Meyer and Stüdeli as MST. Demand for the popular watch movements grew rapidly, and Meyer & Stüdeli increased production to 3000 movements per day. In 1923 more than a million watch movements left the factory.
To ensure quality control the company now also produced its own watch cases, assuring a near independence from its suppliers. One of the successful MST automatic watch movements of the collection already took the later brand name of ROAMER. In 1909 Leo Meyer, Fritz Meyer’s son, opened a branch in Great Britain, which until well into the 1970s would serve one of the most important markets for ROAMER.

The number of employees increased steadily in the 1930s. A total workforce of 1300 enabled the first in-house production of a Meyer & Stüdeli dial. With this the company now produced all elements of a watch in its own factory and established itself as one of the most distinguished Swiss watch and component manufacturers.

With the successful development of complete watches, many patent applications followed in the 1940s. One of many milestones was a low maintenance casing with exceptional water resistance, a leading innovation at that time.  Furthermore, British test pilots realised that the automatic movement of the ROAMER watch was equal to the extreme conditions during supersonic flight, even height and temperature drops had no repercussions whatsoever on the precision of the watches tested.

Henceforth advertising placards and advertisements emphasised in particular the ROAMER models of Meyer & Stüdeli, who also successfully managed to break into the American market with the opening in 1945 of the first branch in New York. The success of the prestigious ROAMER line and the increasing importance of a worldwide market lead to a change of company name. In 1952 the watchmaker became known as ROAMER Watch Co. SA. The English word “roamer” in the sense of “world roamer and rambler” paid tribute to the progressive aspirations of the company and emphasises the importance of the British, and later the international, market.
ROAMER ADVERTISEMENT, 1950s
In 1955, ROAMER’s Anfibio line caused great excitement with its patented water tight casing, a revolutionary technical innovation. Thanks to its functionality and reliability, Anfibio captured the hearts of watch wearers worldwide. The Stingray line, which was produced from the late 1950s onwards, was also legendary. Today the classic Stingray models with their simple watch hands, detailed face indices and high quality MST automatic movements are rare collector’s items. In the current collections new editions still represent the long tradition of ROAMER.

Owing to continued innovation ROAMER expanded its range in 1972 with quartz movements. Within three years of the world’s first quartz movement having been sold, the brand started selling its own quartz collections. ROAMER captured the Zeitgeist and successfully marketed its watches internationally.

With the launch of the Competence collection in 2003, ROAMER OF SWITZERLAND returned to its traditional past as the producer of mechanical watches. The new models lived up to their Swiss watch heritage through unique historical designs and exceptional quality.
ROAMER - Lady Compétence Royale [2006 - Quartz Watch, Steel Case, bezel and dial set with 433 full-cut diamonds (2.481 ct) and 12 blue sapphires]
By 2010 ROAMER, with its value for money, was one of the most powerful Swiss watch brands in the mid-price range. Together with renowned international business partners the brand was able to continually widen its network. On the occasion of its 125-year anniversary in 2013, ROAMER OF SWITZERLAND launched a limited new edition of the popular Stingray Chrono Diver. The numbered, limited run of 333 watches is presented in an attractive jewel case with a certificate and special history booklet.

ROLEX OYSTER PERPETUAL COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA PLATINUM

In 2013, Rolex is introducing a new prestigious version of the Oyster Perpetual COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA, the emblematic model launched in 1963, exactly 50 years ago this year. This legendary chronograph is proposed for the first time entirely in 950 platinum, the noblest of precious metals. It is equipped with a chestnut brown monobloc CERACHROM bezel and an ice blue dial.

A key part of the COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA’s identity is its CERACHROM ceramic bezel with a tachymetric scale, making the watch the ideal instrument to measure average speeds of up to 400 miles or kilometres per hour. The numerals and graduations are perfectly legible thanks to the deposition of a thin layer of platinum via a PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) process.
The COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA’s 40 mm OYSTER case, guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 100 metres (330 feet), is a paragon of robustness, proportion and elegance. The characteristically shaped middle case is crafted from a solid block of 950 platinum. The fluted case back is hermetically screwed down with a special tool exclusive to Rolex watchmakers.

The winding crown, fitted with the patented TRIPLOCK triple waterproofness system, screws down securely against the case. It is protected by a crown guard that forms an integral part of the middle case. The pushers also screw down securely against the case. The crystal is made of virtually scratchproof sapphire. The waterproof OYSTER case provides optimal protection for the COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA’s high-precision movement.

The COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA is equipped with calibre 4130, a self-winding mechanical chronograph movement with a column wheel entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. Like all Rolex PERPETUAL movements, the 4130 is a certified Swiss chronometer, a designation reserved for high-precision watches that have successfully passed the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) tests.

Its design and quality manufacture provide peerless precision and reliability. The oscillator, the true heart of the watch, has a blue PARACHROM hairspring patented and manufactured by Rolex in an exclusive alloy. Insensitive to magnetic fields, the PARACHROM hairspring offers great stability when exposed to temperature variations and remains up to 10 times more precise in case of shocks than a traditional hairspring.

This new COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA is fitted with a solid-link OYSTER bracelet in 950 platinum, with an OYSTERLOCK safety clasp that prevents accidental opening. The clasp also features the ingenious Rolex-patented EASYLINK rapid extension system that allows the wearer to easily increase the bracelet length by approximately 5 mm, for additional comfort in any circumstance.

REVELATION - R03 LEGEND FLY BACK MAGICAL WATCH DIAL®

Thanks to the patented, world premier MAGICAL WATCH DIAL® concept developed by Swiss luxury watch brand REVELATION, their new model R03 LEGEND FLY BACK features  two faces. Its transparent dial becomes black with a quarter turn of the notched bezel.

This magical effect is possible thanks to the superposition of two polarizing discs whose nanostructures play the role of shutters. Each disc is covered with these nanostructures in the shape of shutter slats which are about 70 nanometers wide (70 billionth of a meter). In order for the discs to play their “on/off” role, they must be placed on top of each other and be able to pivot.
Their nano-structures will either block the light or let it pass through to the movement depending on the rotation of the bezel upon which one of the polarising discs is mounted. This is the principle which allows the mechanism to appear and reveals the secondary functions, such as the date, of the chronograph.

The R03 LEGEND FLY BACK system, derived from the extremely complex mechanism with a double differential coupled with an Archimedes’ screw of the first REVELATION watch R01 DOUBLE COMPLICATION, was modified to be placed directly inside the bezel of the watch. One of the polarising discs is directly geared by the bezel. The rotation of the bezel is done manually, at will, by the wearer who decides which level of transparency he desires for the dial to admire the inside of the watch.

The development of the polarizing discs that equip the REVELATION watches is the result of a partnership with the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology. This successful collaboration continues with the study of new specific discs whose cut-outs have been elaborated according to the axes of the hands of the R03 LEGEND FLY BACK movement.

The movement of the R03 LEGEND FLY BACK was developed by the company Dubois Dépraz. This family business, founded in 1901, produces chronographs since more than a century. The two companies have worked hand in hand to personalize this automatic chronograph with skeleton bridges.

The hand-fitting heights were engineered to integrate the MAGICAL WATCH DIAL® within the movement. The date system and the oscillating weight of this self-winding movement were designed and developed by REVELATION.  The appearance of this distinctive oscillating weight is reminiscent of the “Manufacture” TOURBILLON MANEGE® movement and is clearly representative of the brand. The same holds true for the bridges of the complication with its interior angles.
The case of the R03 LEGEND FLY BACK houses the MAGICAL WATCH DIAL® and is of an unequalled complexity. It has no less than 71 parts, which makes it a complication in its own right. The R03 LEGEND FLY BACK is currently available in either titanium or 18kt pink gold with the case middle and back cover in titanium, mounted on a rubber strap with a REVELATION folding clasp.

The first was designed by Jack Heuer himself and produced in a limited edition of 3,000 pieces. The second draws its inspiration from the groundbreaking Mikrogirder and Jack helped with the design. The editions are inspired by the original 1963 Carrera with leading-edge technical details from   motor racing and aeronautics.
The first version has a TAG Heuer logo on its anthracite gray-inside-black dial, and the audacious 39-jewel Calibre 1887 automatic chronograph movement inside; the second has a vintage red Heuer logo on its anthracite dial, overtop a 37-jewels Calibre 17 automatic chronograph movement. The leather strap on the Cal 17 edition is perforated black with red lining; the Cal 1887’s is solid black with a red back. Red second hands and red-tipped counter hands bring extra dram to the look. Date windows are at 6 o’clock, the counters at 3 and 9.

The asymmetrical case design is based on the TAG Heuer Carrera Mikrogirder--slightly rising at an angle at the top, where the crown and chronograph pushers are located. Jack Heuer’s coat of arms and signature in red decorate the smoked sapphire case-back, through which can be seen. In every way, these are stunning tributes to the singular vision of a pioneer in technology and design.

ALPINA StarTimer Pilot Chrono Big Date Quartz

The all-new StarTimer Pilot Chronograph Big Date is actually designed for serious pilots who fly in fast jets and who make split second decisions about the limits to which they can push their planes and themselves.

The StarTimer Pilot Chrono Big Date features the perfectly readable and essential aviation dials of the Alpina Startimer range, which are appreciated by pilots worldwide. Every element of functionality built into these watches is designed to provide the essential information to a pilot, the moment he needs it.

Every model in the new range is driven by the AL-372 quartz chronograph movement. Other features include an extra-wide 44 mm-diameter, two-part stainless steel case, a scratchproof sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, big date and small second displays at the 6 o’clock position.
The unmistakable red Alpina triangle signature “the Alpiner” is in its traditional position at the base of the second hand, and for activities other than flying, these watches are water resistant to 100 metres. All watches from the collection come with a fabric “Cordura” strap with a tongue buckle in different colours matching the dial and case, or a stainless steel bracelet.
Alpina is the official watch of the Cessna Aircraft Corporation, and to honour this partner and aircraft manufacturing pioneer, Alpina has engraved a Cessna Citation on the case-back of the StarTimer Pilot Chrono Big Date. ALPINA Extreme Diver 300 Chronograph Automatic

The all-new ALPINA Extreme Diver Chronograph is a professional grade diving watch designed to deal with the most extreme conditions any professional diver could ever encounter, starting with water resistance to no less than 300 metres.  The Extreme Diver 300 offers all necessary features that allow the professional divers and water sports enthusisists for a safe dive.

The black, polished, PVD coated, unidirectional, turning bezel, turns in just one direction: anti-clockwise. With this “fail-safe” feature the number of elapsed minutes can never be accidentally decreased, only increased. In addition, the 1 to 60 minutes markers on the bezel are luminous, as are the circular indexes which perfectly contrast against the black dial. The watch’s hands are also flared and luminous for maximum readability in low visibility conditions.
The sapphire crystal, see-through case back allows a glance of the inner workings of this automatic chronograph, a rare feature on professional diving watches with a 300 metres water resistance.  The extra-wide 44 mm stainless steel case, the screw-in crown and case-back, the robust rubber strap with a secure folding buckle, the 46-hour power reserve, as well as the additional nylon diving suit strap, complete the professional features package.
The extremely reliable AL-725 automatic chronograph movement features a 12H-6H-chronograph counter layout with the 30-minutes counter at the 12 o’clock position and the 12 hours counter at the 6 o’clock position, in order to maximize the readability of the minute’s hand with respect to the 60 minutes diving bezel.

For the professional diver who prefers metal bracelets, the Extreme 300 Chronograph can also be fitted with classy “Milanese” metal mesh bracelet or the traditional Alpina 3 link sport metal bracelet. Each watch is presented in a uniquely designed gift box, which includes a model diving bottle and the additional nylon swimsuit strap.

TAG Heuer CARRERA Calibre 36 Chronograph Flyback (43mm)

Four new flyback chronographs are part of the new TAG Heuer Carrera collection, each a showcase of TAG Heuer design and finishing.  The unique double-scale dial design is directly inspired by vintage Heuer stopwatches, with a large external scale (in silver or black depending of the model) for at-a-glance viewing of chronograph seconds. Hours and minutes are indicated on the anthracite sunray internal part, which is highlighted by the small second counter at 9 o’clock, the chronograph minutes indication at 3 and the date at 6.
The subtle finishes pay tribute to the 36,000 beats per hours frequency of the movement. The case is a showcase of high-end Swiss craftsmanship: fine-brushed on the side of the case and top of the horns; and mirror polished for sharp edges, which give a balanced mix of sportiness and refinement.

The caseback is in scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The new “H-shaped” bracelet design, in fine brushed and polished multifaceted steel is superbly ergonomic. It is also available with a black alligator strap. Masculine, sober and sporty in anthracite and silver or anthracite and black, with just a touch of fire red on the chronograph and small second hands, these are classic Carreras--exemplary new additions to an iconic line.

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope Chronograph in Titanium

A re-interpretation of the old aviators watches the new Aeroscope chronograph in titanium shares man’s most enduring dream with style and equanimity.

JEANRICHARD drew inspiration from the technical look of flight panel instruments to create a collection that evokes the vast universe of the sky. The obvious sign: unparalleled legibility, with large numerals and luminescent indexes in orange, white or black with a contrasting background. The automatic chronograph movement measures aerial exploits with great precision.

Eyes and fingers quickly master the functions thanks to the elongate pushers and the bezel with a minute scale, the large luminescent numerals and the skeletonised “arrow” hands that are also covered in luminescent matter. The dials come in rhodium-treated black or grey, vertical satin finishing and sunken counters with circular satin finishing, or in matt white.
The cushion-shaped case in titanium – a metal especially favoured in aeronautics –  is both light and robust at the same time. A large, round bezel with vertical satin finishing sits on the case, which is built of several parts, allowing for various satin or polished finishes and for a play with colours on the metal, natural grey or black with DLC coating. This collection, therefore, offers a broad choice of models, ranging from grey or black titanium, and passing by various combinations of cases, lugs and bezels.

The tribute to the conquest of the skies is reinforced by the black or brown Barenia® leather bracelets with contrasting stitches in off-white or orange. The Aeroscope can also be worn on a black, white, orange or grey rubber strap with an exclusive embossed design, the JR signature and a folding clasp, or a plain or black titanium bracelet with alternating motifs and a butterfly clasp.

To accompany the take-off of this practical and exciting chronograph, JEANRICHARD chose an exceptional “godfather”, a man known for his levelheadedness, his self-mastery and his passion for flying. An experienced pilot, captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger made history on January 15, 2009, when he ditched the Airbus A320 he was piloting in the Hudson River in New York City, saving the lives of all 155 people on board. It was a feat that made him a hero – and it embodies perfectly the spirit of the new Aeroscope collection.

JEANRICHARD Aquascope - New Models

JEANRICHARD Aquascope is a perfect timepiece for those who interested in water sports and diving thanks to its highly convincing character and unique sportive qualities. Its robust cushion-style case, with a reinforced sapphire crystal and screw-down back and crown, ensure water resistance to 300 metres.

The uni-directional rotating bezel guarantees excellent handling and precise time-setting for divers thanks to its knurled edge and minute scale. The hour and minute hands are shaped very distinctly; as with the large applique indexes; they are backed by a luminescent coating offering optimal visibility in water or in foam. The red-tipped second hand allows the wearer to quickly check if the watch is working.

Thanks to its ingenious design, the Aquascope sets itself apart through some very clever finishing touches – satin-brushed on the flat surfaces of the middle case and lugs, polished on the bevelled edges. This careful treatment of the details is enhanced by the dynamic contrast between the circular satin polish of the bezel and the vertical satin brushing on the dial.

The collection also plays with colour in models featuring an aluminium bezel with dark blue PVD coating or black DLC – an original touch that is reflected on the surfaced of the middle case or the dials. The latter are available in grey, blue or black satin finishing, or in white.
To underline its exclusivity, the collection is driven by a high-powered automatically wound movement. The feeling of comfort, safety and the touch of style are enhanced by a stainless steel bracelet with a butterfly clasp. It also comes with a delicately streaked rubber strap signed JR, and a folding clasp matching the dial.

The Aquascope, an accurate, robust and resolutely masculine timepiece, has found the perfect ambassador in Franck Cammas. The French yachtsman was named “Sailor of the Year” in 2012. He combines a spectacular list of triumphs with outstanding human qualities. He won the Volvo Ocean Race in 2011-2012, for example. His resilience, his courage, his sheer joie de vivre and passion for the sea endow him with the ideal qualities to match this collection devoted to marine adventurers.

The steel-coloured hour and minute hands are sporty in style and highlighted with superluminova. The applied indexes hollowed out into a U-shape have alternating polished and shot-blast finishes that emphasise the volumes concerned and are prolonged with a block of luminescent material. The date display is positioned at 3 o'clock and the central second hand has a red arrow streak.
The style of the new Terrascope watch continues with its steel bracelet, whose contrasting links have alternating polished and satin finishes that accentuate its sporty feel. TAG Heuer CARRERA Calibre 36 Chronograph Flyback “Racing” (43mm)

At the helm of this year’s TAG Heuer Carrera rollout is one of the line’s most elegant and sporting creations to date. Housing the brand’s high-rate Calibre 36 automatic chronograph movement (named for its 36,000 beats per hour frequency), it features an authentic fly-back complication--a simple click instantly resets the chronograph to zero. Inspired by automobile racing, the function lets drivers (and aviation pilots) instantly restart and reset without stopping.
The generous case is in super-light titanium Grade 2, the same corrosive-resistant alloy used in leading-edge aerospace, automotive and architectural design. Here it is sandblasted and specially treated with a black titanium carbide coating for extra allure. The “Racing” has an anthracite dial decorated with TAG Heuer’s signature sunray effect, with “black gold”-polished and hand-applied Arabic numerals on the external chronograph scale, and on the red-tipped chronograph and small seconds hand.

The date window is a 6 o’clock and the counters--chronograph minute and running second --are at 3 and 9 o’clock. Both counters are snailed with fine-brushed appliqués and polished facets. The smoked sapphire caseback provides a scratch-resistant window onto the working components of the high-precision movement beating inside.
The new strap design, inspired by motor-racing leathers and steering wheel covers, is in crafted black leather with a black perforated layer and a black titanium Grade 2 folding clasp. The pacesetter of the new Carrera fleet, the new TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 36 Chronograph Flyback exemplifies the true “racing” values and codes of the motor-sports inspired line.

JEANRICHARD - 1681 Central Second - Rhodium dial

The heir to a venerable watchmaking tradition and the product of a long history of craftsmanship: such is the 1681 Collection from JEANRICHARD. Its timepieces beat to the rhythm of the JR1000 calibre Manufacture movement, conceived, developed and created in the brand's own workshops.

New models have now been added to the collection, offering a variety of dials and bracelets. Right from the start it is the neo-vintage look that catches the eye. The rhodium-plated dial features a date display at 3 o'clock that sagely surveys the rotation of the pink gold-plated hands. The hands glide over an hour-circle made up of baton indexes and Arabic numerals that are also plated with pink gold.
It has perfect readability thanks to the touches of superluminova on the hour and minute hands. The brand's characteristic cushion-shaped case is here clad in pink gold. Its generous dimensions – 46mm across between 9 and 3 o'clock – are designed to allow the time indications all the space that they require. This timepiece is available with a thick mahogany-coloured alligator strap, of which the round-scaled skin of the lining and the light-coloured double-thread stitching accentuate the model’s original, vintage character. A new version with a black dial and small second display is also available.
Visible through the sapphire case back, the JR1000 calibre's oscillating mass features the brand's new signature logo. Its restrained, graphic design is pared down to the bare essentials.

While remaining faithful to the origins of JEANRICHARD, the 1681 watch is never slow to assert its own personality. Entirely designed and produced at the Brand's Swiss workshops in La Chaux-de-Fonds, a UNESCO World Heritage site that is one of the historic birthplaces of watchmaking, the model's Manufacture movement testifies to a long historical tradition of fine workmanship. Its carefully-designed and innovative case, its polished satin finishes and sober, distinguished dial combine to give this timepiece its committed, dynamic and determined character. In this it resembles its owners, ever faithful to the aspirations that constitute an entire philosophy of life.

This timepiece manufactured by Dimier 1738, Manufacture de Haute Horlogerie Artisanale, is a new anthem to the decorative arts. The use of three-quarter plates already allows a great deal of light to pour through the tourbillon carriage. This further increases the mechanical density in the upper section of the movement, especially since the latter houses the two traditional barrels supplying sufficient energy to ensure a 7-day power reserve.
A first glance at this timepiece gives a clear idea of the efforts that must have been expended by the watchmakers in achieving such a result without making too many technical concessions. This is particularly true given the vulnerable and delicate nature of openworked movements, and particularly of their escapement.

Engraving artisans traditionally receive sets of openworked bridges and mainplates and decorate their surfaces by following the cut-out shapes. In this case however, Pascal Raffy and his teams took a different approach to this timepiece in order for it to achieve aesthetic excellence without reducing its reliability and its precision-timing performances. The secret of this successful accomplishment stems from the fact of having jointly entrusted the design of the skeleton working to watchmakers – for the technical aspects – and to engraving artisans.

By incorporating technical constraints into their aesthetic endeavours, the latter were able to endow the plates and bridges with cut-out shapes designed to make a perfect match with the Fleurisanne engravings that they would then execute on the surface of each component.

Movements crafted by DIMIER 1738 (BOVET’s Manufacture de Haute Horlogerie Artisanale) are notably distinguished by their ability to highlight volumes. The aesthetic and the decoration of the movements are always conceived in three dimensions. The skeleton Amadeo® Tourbillon represents the ultimate expression of the use of volumes that in make it more a sculpture than a decorated mechanism. The cut-out shapes of the parts, their engravings and the contrasts between the different surface states accentuate the complexity of the mechanism and magnify each detail.

Hours and hours of observation would not suffice to discover each subtle feature, each detail or each stroke of genius – such as that of engraving the plates on both sides. This apparently simple idea delivers obvious and breathtaking benefits, while also further complicating the work of the engraving artisans. It is indeed extremely risky and delicate to engrave the second face of a bridge or a plate without jeopardizing the hours of patient work that has been lavished on engraving the first face.

7-Day Skeleton Tourbillon Despite the sophistication of its skeleton-working and its decoration, the Amadeo® Tourbillon nonetheless remains a reliable, functional and accurate timepiece well suited to daily wear. It displays the hours and minutes as well as the 7-day power reserve, and the seconds hand is carried on the upper pivot of the tourbillon carriage. The reversible and convertible reverse hand-fitting also shows the hours and minutes via off-centred hands on the second face of the timepiece.

This reversed hand-fitting appears on the only dial of the Amadeo® Tourbillon. It is in fact a guilloché chapter ring which, in harmony with the finest tradition of skeleton movements, features an open centre providing enchanting views of the mechanism within.

In addition to the extraordinary dexterity of the artisans who have succeeded in “fashioning” this timepiece while making no technical concessions, it is worth noting that the specialists of the Technical Department within the Manufacture have brilliantly succeeded in avoiding the other pitfall of skeleton-worked movements: namely readability. To provide a sufficiently clear framework of reference, three Roman numerals are visible on the movement at 12, 3 and 9 o’clock.

According to the collector’s wish, the movement is given a gold-plated or rhodium-plated coating. Meanwhile, the sprinkling of blue accents of the hands, the screws and the balance rim creates a striking overall contrasting effect that endows it with graphic strength and exemplary readability. With the Fleurier Amadeo® Skeleton Tourbillon, the artisans at DIMIER and BOVET reveal yet more of their talents and their secrets.

ZANNETTI Piranha Collection

Italian Jewellery and Luxury watch designer Zannetti unveils the Piranha Collection, which offers significant, aggressive and professional grade diving watches.  Named after the world’s most aggressive fish, the Piranha diving timepiece wraps around the wrist and transforms itself into a perfect companion during dives down to considerable depths; specialists will no doubt appreciate the automatic helium valve, a distinguishing mark common to all the top diving watches. But it is with the dial that the Piranha shows off its most exciting features. Zannetti has transformed a drawing he has produced into a precious polychrome champlevé decoration based on various marine shades of blue.
Champlevé is an enamelling technique in which cells are carved with a chisel on the metal plate (dial), and filled with vitreous enamel. The piece is then fired until the enamel melts, and when once cooled the surface of the object is polished. Enamel is a vitreous material composed of silica, feldspar, kaolin and metal oxides, in the form of crystals. These metal oxides are either naturally occurring or added by a master artisan, and they are what give enamels their infinite variety of colors. The mixture is then vitrified at very high temperature.
