Atlantic Watch Seashark Matchrace - Anniversary Chronograph

Introduced in 2008 by Atlantic Watch SA, on the occasion of its 120th anniversary, the Seashark Matchrace anniversary chronograph model bears the nautical watch designer’s unmistakable signature.

This model is ideal for the competition yachting community; the minute counter is equipped with color-coded 5-, 8- and 10-minute segments, allowing the skipper to tell at a glance how much time is left before the race begins. The unusual case design – reminiscent of a helm – and the windrose or compass bezel make the Seashark Matchrace the ideal instrument for any professional or leisure sailor. A further eye-catcher is the dial, decorated with a wave motif and nautical flags instead of indexes. The colourful chronograph features convincingly perfect functionality and engineering. The crown, caseback and pushers are screwed in, guaranteeing extreme water resistance up to 300 meters.
The ample dimensions and the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflection coating on the inside enhance the legibility of the three subsidiary dials and the prominent hands. The stainless steel bracelet in a ship’s anchor pattern with double safety clasp is exceedingly robust. The Seashark Matchrace is equipped with an extremely precise ETA Swiss Made chronograph quartz movement.

VIDEO: ANTOINE MARTIN SLOW RUNNER

More details : http://www.masterhorologer.com/2013/04/antoine-martin-slow-runner-collection.html

Zelos Abyss

After the successful launch of 2 timepieces - the Helmsman and Chroma - Singapore based micro watch brand Zelos announces its third project: Abyss, a professional grade dive watch made with marine grade bronze. Built to with stand extreme pressures with ocean depths up to 3000 meters, the design of Abyss takes inspiration from its first model, Helmsman.
Bronze has been closely associated with ocean world since ancient times because of its corrosion resistance. Like the first model, the Zelos Abyss will be come with a fine bronze case, yet designed to with stand extreme pressure. An oxide layer, called a patina, forms a protective skin over time to protect the metal. This patina individualizes each Abyss, creating completely unique pieces. The chamfered edges of the case will be finely polished to perfection and the rest of the case is brushed to provide a contrast.

The sapphire crystal mounted to protect the face of the Abyss measures 7mm thick. It is double domed in shape to reduce distortion when viewed at an angle. Inner anti reflective coatings also prevent any unwanted reflections and improves legibility. It is equipped with 120 click, unidirectional bezel and Helium Escape Valve to provide functionality for saturation divers. As with the Helmsman, an internal bezel is also added to provide additional timing functionality if required, without any risk of the bezel turning unintentionally. Maintaining a water resistance of up to 3000m requires a complex balance of thick metal casings and fine gaskets sealing every possible point of leakage. Each of the crowns have 5 gaskets to ensure a waterproof seal, while a double O-ring system seals the hefty 4mm thick stainless steel screwdown caseback.
The Zelos Abyss will be powered with the automatic Miyota 9015 movement, a work horse designed to perform precisely and reliably. A total of 500 pieces of the Abyss will be produced and each piece will be individually numbered.  The Zelos Abyss will be available in Blue, Green, Brown, Black and DLC bezel with Black dial versions. The CUSN8 Bronze case measures 43mm in diameter and 18mm thickness. 51.5mm lug to lug length makes it extremely wearable.

The Zelos Abyss crowd funding project is currently online on Kickstarter. Pre-order prices start from US$ 490/390 Euros. Delivery is scheduled for May 2015.

HYT - The Hydro-Mechanical Horologists

HYT is a young and innovative luxury watch brand based in Switzerland. Headed by passionate horology enthusiasts - Patrick Berdoz, Lucien Vouillamoz, Emmanuel Savioz and Vincent Perriard (CEO) - this brand has stormed in to the world of high end watch making with a revolutionary concept: Hydro-mechanical horology - An encounter between Fine Watchmaking and fluid mechanics.

We knew about clepsydras or water clocks. The oldest found thus far dates back to the age of the pharaohs. It took 3400 years to overcome the force of gravity and indicate the time with a liquid in a mechanical wristwatch. HYT’s Hydro-mechanical Horologists have turned fantasy into reality, mixing mechanics and liquid within a wristwatch. While addicted to non-conformism, these alchemists have drawn upon the strictest codes of fine watchmaking, and shattered them.
HYT H1 Pink Gold
Origins of the brand
During the Swiss national exhibition in 2002 in Neuchâtel, Lucien Vouillamoz shared his friends about the idea of designing a water watch. The challenge was how to replace the gravitational energy used in clepsydras or water clocks within a wearable, water-resistant wristwatch. The utopic idea was swiftly put on hold in the absence of a technical solution.

After few years, Lucien Vouillamoz reconsidered it from a different angle – namely to create a fluid indicator of time, that is small and transportable and can be used in different ways, rather than a simple “water wristwatch”. This thought process lead him to a completely new idea – involving using two flexible reservoirs attached to each end of the same capillary. This closed system is to comprise different coloured, non-miscible liquids in each reservoir. By compressing the first, its fluid is pushed into the capillary and indicates the time, while the other liquid expands in the second reservoir. The separation between the two liquids is ensured by the positive and negative polarity of the molecules in both, which would make them repel each other’s edges like two magnets. No need for a piston in the tube. The questions of energy and congestion are solved in one go. The idea behind the future H1 is born.

Lucien Vouillamoz quickly identified the potential of his powerful idea, but has no experience of patents. He contacted his long time friend, Patrick Berdoz, a serial entrepreneur and business angel highly experienced in the realm of intellectual property and launching innovative projects. After verifying the concept and conducting due diligence with his team of engineers, the latter invested the necessary funds for the initial validations of the project and makes his team of specialists available to Lucien. Together, they conducted the prior research and develop the first technical specifications, the first designs, and the preliminary registrations.

Patrick continued to finance the entire project. Simultaneously, he contacted his friend Emmanuel Savioz, a specialist in the domain of high-tech start-ups and made him responsible for the creation of HYT and raising the funds required to finance a prototype. Patrick also invited him to join him and Lucien in founding and sitting on the board of HYT and its sister company, Preciflex.

Following a year of R&D, the first prototype was created. The time is accurately indicated thanks to a rectangular capillary measuring 1.7/03mm, machined in a circle between two layers of plexiglass making up the watch glass. Created using rolling membranes, the flexible reservoirs are trapped in transparent cylinders. The force required to move the liquid is transmitted by a cam, which replaces the hour hand. The concept was demonstrated and the patents registered by Preciflex.

In 2010, the team met Vincent Perriard, who is crazy about watchmaking and has already been involved in an attempt to use fluids – which actually won the 2008 Design Watch Prize at the prestigious Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix. Their mutual friend, Jean-François Ruchonnet, acted as the intermediary of this explosive encounter.

With technology in hand, the idea of a rectangular capillary machined into plexiglas became a thing of the past, and was replaced by a borosilicate glass capillary around 11 cm in length with a tiny internal diameter of just 1 mm, an independent capillary through which the time - flowing in the truest sense of the word - can be read. Instead of flowing from rolling membranes, the fluids now come from high-strength, ultra-flexible bellows (technology used by NASA) which act as pistons to enable the fluid to move inside the capillary.

HYT appointed Enter Bruno Moutarlier, former industrial director of Audemars Piguet and a pillar of the brand’s success in the first decade of the millennium, for managing the situation. To develop the movement for the future H1, Bruno Moutarlier turned to Jean-François Mojon and his team at Chronode. For the liquid part, he advised Lucien Vouillamoz who was piloting the reliability trials and the production, in conjunction with Helbling Technik. Meanwhile, CEO and HYT partner Vincent Perriard entrusted the design of the future H1 to the Etude de Style design company, headed by Sébastien Perret.

Vincent Perriard obtained his movements from Chronode, while Preciflex, under the supervision of Lucien Vouillamoz, supplies the liquid components. The alchemy between these two unlikely worlds worked perfectly. A year later, the first hybrid mechanical-fluid watch emerged.
HYT H1 Black DLC
HYT unveiled H1, the first hybrid mechanical-fluid watch, at Basel 2012 jewellery & watch fair and in 2013, the brand launched H2, the second generation hybrid mechanical-fluid watch. HYT continues to produce new limited edition versions based on the H1 & H2.
HYT H2 Titanium
How a hydro mechanical watch works?
The timepiece is equipped with two flexible reservoirs with a capillary attached at each end. One is filled with a coloured liquid and the other, a transparent one. Keeping them apart is the repulsion force of the molecules in each fluid. The hours are indicated by the coloured liquid released from a flexible reservoir compressed by a piston. These reservoirs, or bellows, are located at six o’clock and are made from a supple alloy. The first coloured liquid travels through the capillary pushing the transparent one back into its own reservoir and then returning to its original position at six o’clock in what is referred to as a retrograde manner.
It has two reservoirs at 06:00. While the first compresses, the second expands, and the other way round, resulting in the movement of the liquid in the capillary. As the hours go by, the coloured liquid advances.
The meniscus, in the shape of a half moon, marks the separation point with the other fluid in the tube, indicating the time. At 18:00, the coloured liquid comes back to its original position, going backwards.

Strategic co-operation with Dominique Renaud
In 2014, the brand announced a strategic collaboration with the legendary concept watch specialist, Dominique Renaud, to further strengthen the Neuchâtel based Hydro-Mechanical Horologists’ team as they continue to pioneer the field of highly complex movements in fine watchmaking.

HYT also continues to invest heavily in its niche and exceptional R&D 5-year programme hand in hand with Dominique Renaud thus allowing the young Swiss company to continue to bring ground breaking innovations to the industry whilst keeping a firm grip on its production line and the watchmaking profession as a whole. HYT has many patents under application through its close partnership with Preciflex, the exclusive developer of HYT's liquid movements.

Louis Erard 1931 Classic Tonneau Collection: 1931 Classic Moon Phase Tonneau & 1931 GMT Large Date Tonneau

The highly emblematic 1931 Collection from Louis Erard is the fruit of an ongoing quest for symbiosis between form and function. In 2008, the brand added a tonneau edition to this collection.  The new 1931 Classic Tonneau collection offers two models: Classic Moon Phase & GMT Large Date. Exploring new Art Deco-inspired shapes, the Le Noirmont watchmaker has produced a subtle harmony of line and volume.
Harking back to the earliest creations launched under the leadership of Alain Spinedi in 2003, the 4N pink gold plate of the indexes and hands makes an elegant contrast with the steel of the case.

1931 - Classic Moon Phase Tonneau
In its Moon Phase version, the 1931 Classic Tonneau vibrates to the rhythm of an ETA movement with a Dubois Dépraz 9000 complication. This mechanism is housed in a case whose delicate curves skilfully interrupt the circle of days at the centre, creating a truly graceful composition.

Louis Erard 1931 Chocolate

The very first Louis Erard watch appeared on the market in 1931. Almost eighty years on, the 1931 remains crucial to the Erard brand as it embodies High Horlogerie at affordable prices: the finest movements, classic yet contemporary models, and very attractive prices. In 2008, the watchmaker launched its legendary 1931 Collection in a new colour: chocolate.  The warm chocolate tones appear on a delicate moon phase, a second time zone with large date, a small seconds and on the counters of a powerful chronograph. Harry Winston Avenue C Large

Originally inspired by the refined geometric forms of Art Deco, the Avenue collection by Harry Winston is an ode to New York City – its long thoroughfares stretching their slender silhouettes off into the distance, its soaring, vertiginous aerial architecture. Introduced in 2011, the Avenue C Large model varies its geometry by playing with straight lines and curves, asymmetry and contrasts. The Avenue C Large uses the mirror effects of skyscrapers, with its dial set with 156 baguette-cut diamonds (7.5 carats).
The white gold case studded with diamonds totaling 7.8 carats  reflects the beauty and the brilliance of each diamond. Unrivalled, the glittering bracelet in white gold, set with 260 baguette-cut diamonds (19.5 carats), extends the brightness of the watch to infinity. A total of 34.8 carats embodies a unique style, which is the culmination of efforts and skills between gemologists, designers and craftsmen, working together to create incredibly beautiful timepieces.

Victorinox Swiss Army Maverick Chronograph

The extraordinary ride of Maverick, a veritable Victorinox Swiss Army bestseller, continues apace. After the redesign of the three hand watch model, the Maverick Chronograph has now undergone a complete overhaul.

The Maverick’s new look is first apparent on the streamlined dial, where indexes take the place of numerals—except, for ease of reading, at 3 and 9 o’clock. Overall, the dial is brighter, due to differences in depth and a new surface treatment.
Maverick Chronograph comes in the natural tones of the Swiss countryside: black, blue, green and chocolate. The same colours are found on the unidirectional bezel and rubber strap.  Bracelet editions are also available, in choice of steel, gold PVD-treated steel or two-tone steel (steel/gold PVD).
The unidirectional bezel scale is lacquer-protected on the rubber strap and steel bracelet models. Mineral glass protects the scale on the PVD coated and bicolor models, set deep in the bezel. The new Maverick Chronograph is 43 mm and powered by a Swiss Made 5030.D Ronda quartz movement.

Harry Winston Lady Z

Introduced in 2008 along with the Project Z6 watch for men, the limited edition Harry Winston Lady Z is the first women’s timepiece with a Zalium setting. Inspired by the mythical goddess Luna, design and function of Lady Z evoke the unique dualities and femininity of the moon light and dark, subtlety and strength.

Creating a celestial stage for the lunar mechanism, the lower part of the dial features an elliptical opening, with two moons crafted in aventurine for a subtle mixture of spangled and sequined deep blue. Each moon – one white, one black -- is finished with a comet’s tail trace, set in shaded tones of diamonds and black sapphires. The whimsical mechanism is wound using a flush push button, located at 2 o’clock.
A two colored dial evokes the radiance and dark energy of the moon in its many phases. A luminous silver-plated dial features Arabic numerals set-out in eye-catching rays, creating a striking contrast with the black of the ellipse. A second dial captures the elegance of the night sky, featuring a dark background with the timezone illuminated by pavé diamonds. Set in Zalium, a rare and difficult material to fashion, Harry Winston’s master jewelers have impeccably set the bezel and horns with a series of exceptional diamonds, enhancing the elegant, feminine feel.
A special edition Lady Z, shown without the numerals, is also exclusively available at Harry Winston salons.

DeWitt - DAME DE PRESSY

DeWitt’s ladies collection truly stands out through its movements of character, the generous proportions of its models and its poetic display of time. The care given to the smallest details further testifies of the brand’s approach to Haute Horlogerie and of its continual quest for perfection. The Dame de Pressy is an extremely rare and precious horological and jewellery masterpiece dedicated to female wrists.

Its elegant lines and refined proportions are delicately covered in precious diamonds. A unique snow-setting effect is achieved by using stones of different diameters that pave the curved shapes of the watch. The mastery of the DeWitt artisans is fully displayed in the mechanical heart of the watch, where bridges, wheels and diamonds interact in a soft, subtle and beautiful way. The tiny floral patterns hand-engraved on the two half-moons at 12 and 6 hours further illustrate the impressive level of finishings achieved.
