AHCI Presents Young Talent Competition In association with F.P. Journe

The AHCI (Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants) and luxury watch manufacture F.P. Journe have partnered to launch the Young Talent Competition and offer watchmaking apprentices the opportunity to demonstrate their skills by entering this global contest.  33 exceptional AHCI watchmakers from 11 countries will assess the creations submitted by young watchmakers from around the world and select the best. The winners will be presented at Baselworld 2015 and have the privilege of exhibiting alongside the AHCI.
The aim of the competition is to help raise the next generation of young independent watchmakers by identifying the most talented creations and publicly recognising their achievements.  The winners will be presented on the 19th of March at Baselworld 2015 by the AHCI and F.P. Journe and will get the opportunity to exhibit their timepieces at the AHCI booth for the whole world to admire.

Applicants must be watchmaking apprentices or have graduated from their apprenticeship after August 2013.  Applicants must have independently designed and created a timepiece and/or technical construction. The winners will be selected by a panel of 33 AHCI members from 11 countries.

The AHCI (Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants) is a non-profit association with the mission to perpetuate the art of independent watch and clock-making.

For over thirty years François-Paul Journe has been faithfully dedicated to creating authentic high horology timepieces. His innovations such as the Chronomètre à Résonance, the Tourbillon Souverain or the Sonnerie Souveraine have won him numerous horological awards. His independent F.P.Journe Manufacture has today become a brand of reference among the respected horological firms. Less than 900 exclusive mechanical watches, with an 18 ct. rose gold movement, one of the brand’s signature, are produced each year in this universe where haute horology and the fine arts become one. Engraved with the Invenit et Fecit motto, they are the guarantee of an authentic Manufacture calibre.
