AHCI unveils 30 limited edition wooden pens to celebrate its 30th anniversary

In 2015, Switzerland based prestigious horology institution, the Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants (AHCI) is celebrating 30 years since its official foundation in 1985 by Master Watchmakers Svend Andersen and Vincent Calabrese.

To commemorate the 30th anniversary, the AHCI has created 30 wooden ballpoint pens in association with Valerii Danevych, the AHCI member who is known for making stunning and logic-defying wooden watches. These 30 limited edition wooden pens, handcrafted by Valerii Danevych, will be offered to art lovers and connoisseurs and the money raised will be used to preserve watchmaking history. AHCI has planned to curate and digitise historical AHCI documents at the Musée International d'Horlogerie at Le Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland and make them available to watch enthusiasts and the entire world for free.
For each piece, Valerii has devoted more than 24 working-hours to religiously work and shape a blend of ebony, rosewood and apricot-tree woods. The result is 30 beautifully handcrafted and hand-engraved wooden pens, numbered from 1 to 30 and showing the logo of the Academy.
This piece of history is valued at CHF 499. AHCI is also offering a dedicated and signed copy of the AHCI's book: The Hands of Time in addition to the AHCI pen for CHF 599.
