COINWATCH - Chinese Zodiac ‘Year of Goat Limited Edition’

Following the limited edition Year of the Horse watch launched last year, Coinwatch now presents another art piece as invaluable as time: the precious limited edition Year of the Goat watch adopted the Australian 50-cent commemorative coin of the Year of the Goat.

The Year of the Goat watch belongs to the Croesus collection. Croesus was the last king of Lydia in the 5th century B.C. He not only raised his kingdom to the zenith of power but was also credited with issuing the first true gold coins, and these ties in with the proud history of Coinwatch as the inventor of coin-inspired watches.

Inheriting the tradition of the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of the Goat watch promises a distinctive design that stylistically transplants a whole coin onto the watch. Originated from Australia, Coinwatch is honourably invited by the Perth Mint Australia to transform the Year of the Goat 999 silver commemorative coin into a brand-new Year of the Goat Limited Edition timepiece. Thanks to the precision cutting technology, the coin is laterally cut into two halves: the reverse becomes the dial and the obverse serves as the caseback, revealing the glamour of the coin to the full.
In the Chinese calendric tradition, the goat is favoured for its tenderness and gentleness. And not only that: the word “goat” (yang) is homophonic with words that suggest auspices and prosperity, such as “sun” (yang) and “auspicious” (xiang) and thus is widely held as an auspicious animal. On the watch dial a family of three goats rests in peaceful harmony on the plain, in resonance with the Chinese idiom “three goats bringing prosperity” (sanyang kaitai). The caseback, created from the back side of the coin, is engraved with the portrait of Elizabeth II and the mark of 2015 to distinguish its commemorative value.

The harmonious scene of the three goats on the dial is complemented with its superb design, whose 40mm 316L stainless steel case, simple curves and fine black leather strap exhibit sleek elegance. Driven by a Swiss-made quartz movement, the watch tells time by a reliable three-hand (hour, minute and second) indication and offers a water resistance of 30 metres. Limited to 999 pieces worldwide, the Year of the Goat watch is a valued collectible item for all watch lovers.
