Caran d’Ache “Spirit of Switzerland” Writing Instruments Collection

To mark its 100th anniversary, Caran d’Ache pays tribute to its country with a limited edition of writing instruments, Spirit of Switzerland. This symbolic creation presents 14 elements of Swiss cultural identity. Created in collaboration with a Swiss jewellery craftsman, this limited edition celebrates Swiss traditions through a series of figurative images sculpted on the body of these writing instruments.
A country with rich cultural history and linguistic diversity, Switzerland has a wealth of practical expertise that has helped to build its international reputation in areas such as dairy farming, wine production and watchmaking. The Spirit of Switzerland writing instruments are highly symbolical creations. Figures in relief sculpted in solid silver on the black matt body of the pens represent elements of Swiss culture: lush high pastures, majestic mountain peaks, the immaculate whiteness of Edelweiss, the deep notes of the Alpine horn, the warm wood of the chalets, the famous melted cheese dishes… so many images that are engraved forever in the memory of those who admire Switzerland’s unique heritage.
The writing instruments of this Limited Edition all integrate a beautiful jewel of the mountains, used as an ornament since antiquity: a cabochon of rutile quartz, set on the tip of the cap. This pure rock crystal is incrusted with needles of rutile touched with gold that produce shimmering reflections. The colour and arrangement of these inclusions have earned it the name “Hair of Venus” the symbolic protector of love and life.
The Spirit of Switzerland is limited to 100 numbered fountain pens and roller pens, intended for lovers of rare and beautiful objects. It is available in shops specialising in luxury fine writing instruments from March 2015.
