The 1858 range of CATOREX watches is enhanced in 2014 by the C’Twinn collection, a line paying homage to love, appealing as much to Her as to Him. Each gent’s model has its ladies’ counterpart, enabling couples in love with each other to unite through an elegant and luxurious symbol. This line has been produced in a limited series of 599 pieces.
The design of this new collection is distinctive. Although it is based on the round case, which is characteristic of CATOREX watches, the bezel assumes a square form with rounded edges, reminiscent of the early television screens. Four mechanical and four quartz models are proposed.
Being the bearers of such a powerful symbolism, the watches in the C’Twinn line could not be equipped with just any movement. The mechanical models house the “vintage” UNITAS 6565 manual winding movement, 8¾ calibre, produced in Tramelan ( BE – Switzerland ) during the 1970s. This movement, which is already present in other special CATOREX models, has been entirely reconditioned, decorated and skeletonised on the inside. The back of the steel case is ornamented with openwork to display this intricate engineering.
In the gents’ 38 mm version, this finely worked movement can be seen through a circular opening at the centre of the dial, which comes in a white colour (8159-1) or galvanic blue (8159-2), with indexes and hands made of a luminescent Superluminova material. The strap is in a dark leather with crocodile profile and deployment buckle.
The 32 mm C’Twinn ladies’ model features a special touch with its “open heart” window on the dial. This heart shape reveals the beating of the skeleton balance. In addition, the dial is embellished with a line of genuine diamonds and a flowing butterfly motif. The dial colours match those of the gents’ models, namely white (4159-1) or galvanic blue (4159-2), and the hands display a refined openwork design. The strap is in white leather with a crocodile profile and deployment buckle.
In addition, four C’Twinn quartz models have been developed, fitted with Ronda movements. Retaining the case shape and bezel opening, the gents’ models are sober, equipped with solid dials, white or black, with date at three o’clock and dark crocodile profiled straps. The two ladies’ models have various delicate refinements, including their dials, in black (4156-2) or pink (4156-1), with date at 3 o’clock, decorated with a small heart and a line of genuine diamonds. All the C’Twinn models are based on a stainless steel case, with sapphire crystal, and are water resistant to 5 ATM.
The watches of the « 1858 » range, manufactured entirely in Les Breuleux (Switzerland), are all powered by Swiss movements, have steel cases and are equipped with sapphire glasses. A crowned « C » discreetly integrated into the winder is what all the models have in common. The majority of them also have a transparent back revealing the decorated movement. The prices, according to model, range from CHF 300.- to 3’000.-.
