Rado HyperChrome Ceramic Touch Dual Timer Wins Good Design® Award Australia

A timepiece that has seen the light of day thanks to the avant-garde thinking and material mastery of Rado, the Rado HyperChrome Ceramic Touch Dual Timer has won its third award this year. After the Good Design Award (USA) and the iF Award, this watch designed with travellers in mind made its way 'down under', where it has been awarded the Good Design® Selection in the product design category.

A ground-breaking timepiece, the HyperChrome Ceramic Touch Dual Timer took ceramic touch technology, presented by Rado in 2013, to another level with the added complication of two time-zone dials. Six sensors are embedded in the case, allowing the wearer to set the time through touch alone. Right for minutes and left for hours, you can make time fly back or forwards at your leisure by simply activating the watch and sliding your finger along the case. An added feature only possible thanks to touch technology perfected by The Swatch Group, you can swap the times displayed on each dial. Watch the hands of the watch fly as your touch the case at 3 and 9 o’clock as the time from the small dial moves to the big dial and vice versa.
Touch technology is not the only innovation brought forward by the HyperChrome Ceramic Touch Dual Timer. This watch is also the canvas for grey high-tech ceramic. This is the first watch Rado has produced in this cool hue, which is incredibly difficult to recreate consistently in exactly the same hue. Rado has used its technical knowhow to ensure that the exact colour is reproduced each time. Boasting the same benefits as black or white high-tech ceramic, this new grey ceramic is available in matt and shiny finishes and is unique in the industry.

Design is an integral part of what Rado does, and its unique approach to Industrial Design has been recognised with more than 30 international design prizes. Rado has always focused on the design and durability of its products, choosing a range of innovative materials to make its watches.

The Good Design Awards is Australia’s longest standing national design award and promotion program, and one of the few forums for professional Industrial Designers and manufacturers to showcase their design expertise to national and international audiences. As a result of more than 50 years of design benchmarking, the program has focused on progressively raising the standard of design and innovation in Australia and around the world.
