The Tourbillon Chiming Jump Hour by Akrivia Pre-Selected by the Jury of the 15th Grand Prix D’horlogerie De Geneve

AkriviA’s Tourbillon Chiming Jump Hour has been preselected by the jury of the 15thGrand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), in the Striking category. Created in 2001 as an annual salute to the excellent of international watchmaking creations, the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève contributes to promoting this art and its values around the world.

As usual, the pre-selected watches will be part of a travelling exhibition at that will start in Hong Kong at the Liang Yi Museum on October 2ndand 3rd2015, moving on to the Hyundai Card Music Library where it will be on show from October 6thto 8th, followed by the Dubai Watch Week – DIFC from October 18thto 22nd, before returning to Geneva and the Cité du Temps from October 26thto November 4th 2015. The Tourbillon Chiming Jump Hour will thus be presented in these four cities, along with the 71 other watches selected in this first round of voting. The award ceremony, at which the prize-winners will be officially announced, will take place on October 29th 2015 in the prestigious Grand Théâtre de Genève.
The Tourbillon Chiming Jump Hour model selected is equipped with a calibre entirely designed and developed in-house. This is a rather unusual model featuring a rare combination of horological complications: jumping hours, a striking mechanism sounding the hours in passing with a silence option, as well as a tourbillon at 6 o’clock. The Tourbillon Chiming Jump Hour boasts all the advantages of three different display modes. It indicates time in each of its mechanical representations: analogue via the minutes hand, digital with the hour aperture, and auditory via the gong of a hammer marking the passing hours. AkriviA has developed its own form of gong. Contrary to the traditional circular-shaped gong wrapped around the movement circumference, the one designed by AkriviA features an atypical brand specific shape intended to favour acoustics and achieve a crystal-clear sound worthy of the finest Swiss watchmaking traditions.

Kosovo-born Rexhep Rexhepi is the young master-watchmaker and driving force behind the creation of this youthful Geneva-based brand. Founded in 2011, AkriviA stems from an ambition dream that began a decade ago when Rexhep Rexhepi was serving his apprenticeship with Patek Philippe.
