Design Shanghai 2016 – A Perfect Venue to Discover Contemporary Design, Classic Design and Collectible Design

Coinciding with the London Design Festival, Design Shanghai brought the best of Chinese design to the UK, with a unique exhibition at leading show 100% Design, took place from 23 to 26 September 2015 at Olympia London.

Supported by Shanghai Promotion Centre for City of Design, Icon presents: Hi Design Shanghai showcased ten top Chinese design brands, both emerging and established names, exhibiting together for the first time in UK. The event was an extraordinary platform for some of the most talented designers, including; Blue Shanghai White, Design MVW, EY products, Frank Chou Design Studio, Maxmarko, Song Tao Wu Haoyu, WUU, Yang Design and Yuue. The show was a preview of the most innovative and latest products by a selection of brands that will be also taking part in the third edition of the Asia’s leading international design event Design Shanghai, returning in March 2016, following the remarkable success of the first two editions.

Icon presents: Hi Design Shanghai was a celebration of the long-standing support and cultural exchanges between China and the UK. Many more opportunities are being explored this year, as 2015 marks the first ever UK-China Year of Cultural Exchange, a unique opportunity to further deepen the existing relationship between the two countries across the creative industries.

For Design Shanghai 2016 leading international brands have confirmed their participation. Dates have been announced for Design Shanghai 2016, which will take place from 9 to 12 March 2016 at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre.

Infrastructure co-founders, former Liberty and Lane Crawford director Ross Urwin, and Darrel Best, former brand director of Kelly Hoppen Interiors, will also return as creative directors of this year’s edition, whilst Morgan Morris, co-founder of Paris-Beijing based consultancy Perfect Crossovers, returns as curator of The Collectible Design hall, a showcase of unique limited edition design pieces from the best design galleries worldwide. A unique platform for the most talented designers, top architects, property developers, retailers and private buyers, Design Shanghai 2016 will welcome more than 42,000 visitors to the four-day event, featuring international design brands and galleries, as well as installations and a varied programme of events.

2016 edition will feature in excess of 300 exhibitors across three halls; Contemporary Design, Classic Design and Collectible Design. International leading design brands, such as Vitra, Cassina, HAY, Buzzi Space and Villeroy & Boch have already confirmed their participation, alongside leading Chinese design brands including Domus Aurea, Mexarts, Maxmarko, Cloisonné Shi, and Wuu. Confirmed sponsors include Domus Tiandi and PerrierJouët.

The show will offer a comprehensive seminar programme with the most influential architects and designers, as well as interactive features and installations. Visitors will also enjoy a range of restaurants, lounge areas and bars throughout the exhibition.

Design Shanghai is organised by Media 10 Limited and supported by the Shanghai Promotion Centre for the City of Design and Shanghai Design Week.

Shanghai Promotion Centre for City of Design: Shanghai Promotion Centre for City of Design (SPCCD) is a non-profit social organization providing services for the promotion of the creative design industries in Shanghai and the construction of "City of Design". It is subordinated to Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatisation and works on the development of Shanghai as City of Design as authorized by the UNESCO Creative City(Shanghai) Promotion Office.

100% Design: 100% Design is the largest and longest running contemporary design event for industry professionals in the UK, with more than 28,000 visitors in 2014. First staged in 1995, the show has been run by leading independent publishing and events company Media 10 since 2012.For 2015, the show will take over a new venue, moving up the road to Olympia London. Staged over 20,000m2 and across 2 floors of the venue, 100% Design is the commercial cornerstone event of the London Design Festival. The award-winning layout of the show is defined by four key industry sections; Interiors, Workplace, Kitchen & Bathrooms and Design & Build. New for 2015 are the Luxury and Modern British sections. The show also features specially commissioned editorial hubs across the floors. Topped off by the critically acclaimed Talks with 100% Design programme running across the four days of the show,100% Design is a diverse, inspirational design experience.

Shanghai London-China UK Design Innovation Centre: Shanghai London-UK China Design Innovation Center (UCC) is the second International collaborative project after "Shanghai Florence-Sino Italian Design Exchange Center" managed by Shanghai Promotion Centre for City of Design. UCC will set up two bases in London Shanghai, focusing on providing the comprehensive platform including display, sales, incubator, training, B2B and forum.

China Design Centre: China Design Centre is the place to experience and collaborate with Chinese design and innovation. They showcase the unique design vision in Architecture, Art and Craft, Furniture, Product, Fashion and Jewellery Design. China Design Centre is an ideal place to explore collaborative opportunities between designers from China, UK and the rest of the world.

Perrier-Jouët: Perrier-Jouët is an iconic champagne house with an exceptional vineyard. It is known for the finesse, floral and elegant notes of its wines, fashioned with the expertise of only seven Cellar Masters since its foundation in 1811. Since its 1902 collaboration with Art Nouveau pioneer Emile Gallé, creator of the anemone design for the house’s Belle Epoque prestige cuvée, Perrier-Jouët has commissioned work from established and emerging artists including Daniel Arsham, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, Miguel Chevalier, Makoto Azuma, Tord Boontje, Studio Glithero and Simon Heijdens.
