At Watches & Wonders 2015 haute horlogerie exhibition in Hong Kong, Montblanc has unveiled a sparkling diamond studded version of its Pink Gold Heritage Chronométrie Quantième Annuel (Annual Calendar) Vasco da Gama timepiece, which was presented earlier this year at SIHH Geneva.
For the Montblanc Heritage Chronométrie Quantième Annuel Vasco da Gama Diamonds watch, the calendar displays (i.e. the day at 9 o'clock, date at 3 o'clock and month at 12 o'clock) are governed by an Annual Calendar complication. This mechanism automatically controls the number of days to be displayed according to the length of the current month (i.e. 30 or 31 days), but nevertheless requires a manual setting in the case of February, which has 28 or 29 days depending on the year in question. Montblanc has also opted to include a moon-phase indication in this model. Operated by an independent gear-train, this original display is set separately from the annual calendar complication.
