IWC Schaffhausen Big Pilot’s Watch Edition “Patrouille Suisse” (Ref.IW500910)

Once again, IWC Schaffhausen is paying tribute to the high-flying excellence of the Patrouille Suisse with a special edition for 2015. The pilots of the Swiss Air Force display team have been wowing international air show crowds for decades with the precision and perfection of their formation flying. This year IWC is recognizing the exceptional flyers of the Swiss aerobatics squadron with a Big Pilot’s Watch Edition “Patrouille Suisse”, a special version of the iconic watch first produced in 1940 which will be limited to 250 watches.

Dedicated to aviators, the Big Pilot’s Watch Edition “Patrouille Suisse” (Ref.IW500910) is presented in grey with a case of blasted stainless steel featuring the characteristic design elements that make this professional timepiece for pilots instantly identifiable.
The 51011 calibre – the largest automatic movement manufactured in-house by IWC Schaffhausen – combines all the features that have proved their worth in the long history of mechanical watches from IWC. Within no time at all, the spring-mounted rotor and Pellaton pawl-winding system build up a power reserve of over 7 days, and after exactly 168 hours the movement is mechanically stopped by an ingenious train in the power reserve. Stopping the movement before all the tension in the spring has been exhausted eliminates the danger of diminishing torque in the mainspring. This ensures the same level of accuracy the whole time the watch is running. The power reserve display at “3 o’clock” provides a reliable indication of the time remaining until the movement comes to a stop. A special feature of the Big Pilot’s Watch Edition “Patrouille Suisse” is the small seconds at “9 o’clock”, symmetrically opposite the power reserve display. The date display is at “6 o’clock” as usual. The 46-millimetre case encloses a soft-iron cage that protects the movements against extreme magnetic fields.

IWC’s historic 52 T.S.C. Big Pilot’s Watch of 1940 is clearly recognizable as the model that inspired the design of the Big Pilot’s Watch Edition “Patrouille Suisse”. It is a style icon and the model which established the standard design on which all classic pilot’s watches are based.
A clearly organized dial, the arrowhead index at “12 o’clock” and the bold, luminescent numerals and hands guarantee minute-perfect legibility of the time regardless of lighting conditions. The Big Pilot’s Watch is the only model made by IWC Schaffhausen to feature such an imposing crown, a reminder of those pioneering days of aviation when pilots were exposed to the elements in unheated – or even open – cockpits. To combat this they wore thick gloves with their quilted flying suits, which made it difficult for them to wind and set their watches. Hence the need for an unusually large, chunky crown. The current stainless steel variant is rounded off by an anthracite-coloured wristband of embossed calfskin with a folding clasp.
The case back features an engraving of three jet planes resembling the Northrop F-5E Tiger II – the planes the Patrouille Suisse pilots use to perform their aerial displays with the same high levels of precision we associate with Swiss watches. The inscription “TRIBUTE TO PATROUILLE SUISSE” and the consecutive numbering on the case back (001/250, 002/250 etc.) indicate the exclusivity of this special limited edition. The Big Pilot’s Watch Edition “Patrouille Suisse” will be available from September 2015 at IWC boutiques in Switzerland and from Swiss retailers, then later at IWC boutiques worldwide.

Ulysse Nardin Marine Diver Artemis Racing Limited Edition

Swiss luxury watch brand Ulysse Nardin launches a limited edition Marine Diver to celebrate its association with Sweden’s Artemis Racing team, one of the popular teams attending 35th edition of America’s Cup, the most important yachting competition of all time.

Vivid in deep-ocean blue with bursts of signature Artemis Racing yellow, the limited edition of 250 timekeepers was revealed in Gothenburg, Sweden, host to the America’s Cup World Series. This preliminary competition, held on August 28-30, is a fitting atmosphere to reveal the new Marine Diver Artemis Racing watch. Since the beginning, only four countries have won the America’s Cup – the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Switzerland. Artemis Racing is striving to be the Cup’s new steward, bringing it to Europe and Sweden for the first time.
The energy and ingenuity of the Artemis Racing team is mirrored in this special execution of the Marine Diver, made for the milestone moment.Presenting a sleek yet durable mixture of textures, including stainless steel and rubber, the piece is ideal for yachtsmen who welcome the fiercest of competition. Reflecting love for the sport while honoring the occasion is the original pattern on the watch’s face; here, vessels seem to float on the sea as if awaiting their turn to set sail. Highlighting the partnership is the Artemis Racing insignia and “Challenger 35thAmerica’s Cup Artemis Racing” tribute. These details, alongside the bold hour markers, hands and strap accented in yellow, with the Artemis Racing logo just below the dial, show a highly personal connection between the brand and the team.
Reinforcing the nautical roots of each is the intricate wave pattern around the dial. Boasting exceptional water resistance to 300 meters, made possible thanks to the screw-locked crown and case-back, it also features a unidirectional rotating bezel, which prevents any accidental adjustment to the dive time. Forty-four millimeters in diameter and powered by the UN-26 self-winding base caliber, the timepiece offers a power reserve indicator, small seconds register and a date display at 6 o’clock, among other precise functionality.
The Marine Diver Artemis Racing is available through Ulysse Nardin’s worldwide retail network.

Armin Strom Skeleton Pure Only Watch edition 2015

For biennial Only Watch event scheduled on November 7 in Geneva, Swiss watch manufacture Armin Strom has created the Skeleton Pure Only Watch edition 2015 timepiece that will be auctioned for charity. The auction benefit supports scientific and medical research regarding Duchenne muscular dystrophy. For the first time, the auction will be held in Geneva and be the opening event of Geneva Watch Auction Week, when hundreds of connoisseurs and collectors gather in the city.

The Only Watch collection of 44 one-of-a-kind fine timepieces will be unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show September 23-26 and followed by a four-city tour of Hong Kong, Beijing, New York and London in October. It will be displayed in Geneva for two days prior to the auction, which will be conducted by Phillips in association with Bacs & Russo.
The ARMIN STROM Skeleton Pure Only Watch edition 2015 is powered by Calibre ARM09-S and features a striking PVD coated matte black main plate and bridges. Colorization enhances the dimension and definition of the movement's complex design.
The entirely skeletonized Calibre ARM09-S is a manual-wind, double-barrel movement with an eight-day power reserve. The dial exhibits hours, minutes, small seconds and power reserve indicator. ARMIN STROM designs its watches so the more intricate side of the calibre is visible on the dial side. When the Skeleton Pure is wound, the double-barrel movement creates an engaging animation.
Through five auctions spanning 10 years, Only Watch has raised more than 15 million Euros to finance scientific and medical research regarding neuromuscular diseases and Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The event is organized by Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies, the Monaco Yacht Show and Phillips auction house in association with Bacs & Russo.

Oris Aquis Date

Oris is an independent Swiss company that produces some of the world’s most innovative diver’s watches, with pioneering functions that make a real contribution to a diver’s kit bag.

Now the brand unveils new Aquis Date, a high-spec mechanical diving watch that features a luxurious and eye-catching bezel inlay made of a material called cermet, a metal and ceramic alloy that combines the structural integrity of ceramic with the allure of gold. It has the lightweight, scratch-resistant properties that have made ceramic such a popular material choice in luxury diver’s watches, and also the dressy, summer-party looks of an evening wear watch. Rose gold-plated hands and indices and a white rubber strap complete the glamorous look. Its 36mm stainless steel case is water-resistant to 30 bar/300 metres, and that bezel only rotates in an anticlockwise direction, a safety feature that guarantees a diver can never inadvertently extend the dive time.

Christopher Ward - C60 Trident Pro Vintage Steel Edition & C60 Trident Pro Vintage Black Edition

Christopher Ward’s recently re-engineered C60 Trident collection set a new benchmark for the brand’s iconic dive collection – from the meticulous re-engineering of almost every part to the unprecedented expansion of choice for the customer with almost 250 options in combining movement, size, and colour, Trident was truly redefined.

Now the comprehensively re-defined Trident is presented in two stunning new editions – the C60 Trident Pro Vintage Steel Edition and the C60 Trident Pro Vintage Black Edition (each in 38mm and 42mm options).
The Trident Pro models feature a comprehensively re-engineered case, watertight to 600 metres, encasing the fine Swiss made self-winding movement and providing a powerful platform for the matt-finish zirconia ceramic uni-directional bezel with a tetragonal structure that absorbs energy by expanding on impact, giving exceptional strength and protection.  The two stunning new case finishes in steel and black are completed by the ‘CW’ signature deep-stamped back-plate, ensuring all-round beauty.
In the two new models the Trident’s optimal engineering is now complemented with striking but subtly innovative aesthetic touches.  Firstly, the baton style indexes carry an intense new lume, SuperLuminova™ Old Radium Vintage, to deliver significantly enhanced visibility.

The vintage theme is further echoed in the sandblasting of the hands and indices, complementing the matt bezel and creating a patina redolent of times past.  This atmospheric effect can be further enhanced through the option of the handcrafted, vintage leather strap or, alternatively, can be dialled-down with the option of the classic stainless steel bracelet, adding a more contemporary balance.
The second new Trident model, the C60 Trident Pro Vintage Black Edition (42mm), exuding a dynamic air, particularly when presented in its multi-textured combination of black dial, case, bezel and black PVD stainless steel bracelet.
The new models (38mm and 42mm) are offered with the options of the Vintage Italian leather strap with CW motif buckle – from £599 – or 316L Marine grade bracelet with diver’s extension and classic steel or black PVD finish - from £660 – and are available on pre-order, for mid-September.

TAG Heuer - New 2015 AQUARACER 300M Ceramic bezel (41 & 43 mm) - Official watch of the World Surf League & Big Wave Tour

As Official TimeKeeper and Official Watch of the World Surf League & Big Wave Tour, TAG Heuer introduces a new Aquaracer 300m Ceramic. TAG Heuer’s passionate affair with water sports began from its patent of one of the first water-resistant cases for a pocket watch in 1895, the World’s first Chronograph with regatta dial and tide indicator: the Mareograph / Seafarer in 1950, and now with the launch of the new 2015 Aquaracer 300m.

The new Aquaracer 300M collection exemplifies the line’s performance qualities more than ever; but also enhances its refined, sporty allure. Each timepiece is a great seafarer and diving instrument developed to meet the extreme requirements of professional water-sports, with a 300M water resistant case, a unidirectional rotating bezel with 6 studs for perfect grip, a screw-in crown, unscratchable ceramic dial and highly visible luminescent markers.
This casual yet elegant diving watch features a newly designed bezel for a dynamic look. This Unidirectional bezel measures time limits or elapsed dive time. An accidental movement of the bezel could only reduce the indicated time remaining, an essential safety factor for divers. The watch also features six ergonomic studs to easily set it up when wearing gloves and a screw-in crown for more security at depth.
The case, bezel and bracelet features high grade finishing. The unscratchable dial with horizontal streak effects offers an avant-garde look. The luminescent markers on indexes and hands provide high legibility.
The strap featuring a folding clasp with a double security lock, prevents any accidental opening and with a special diving extension. Water-resistant to 300 meters: strict testing, double gaskets and rigorous, manufacturing standards make of the new Aquaracer a highly reliable watch.

Christopher Ward C7 Rapide Chronograph MKII – V390 White Dial Version

Christopher Ward enhances their Motoring collection with the launch of a new white dial version of the popular C7 Rapide Chronograph MKII – V390, providing further choice for motoring enthusiasts seeking a stylish, high quality, highly accessible entry chronograph model.

The credo “to race is to live” perfectly captures the spirit of the motorsport racing legends of the track to whom this exceptional chronograph pays homage. The Mark II version, launched in late 2012, took that spirit to a new level in offering a new Ronda movement, making it not only one of the most stunning of Christopher Ward’s motorsport watches but also the most accurate. A durable aluminium bezel and split-timing sub emphasise Christopher Ward’s intuitive feel for how to evolve a classic design without losing the essence of the original.
The model’s extensive features range from the enhanced clarity of the applied polished stainless steel numeral hour markers to a power saving mechanism operated via the stem, enabling a significant saving in consumption of up to 70%.  To meet the race day needs of even the most ardent trackside enthusiast, the three elegant subdials display running seconds, chronograph seconds and a 30-minute counter, with the top subdial offering a double function enabling measurement from 1/10 of a second through to 10 hours.
Now offered in striking white as well as the original classic black dial, the Rapide is a complex and intricate chronograph with an impeccable racing pedigree and is offered in strap options of Italian black leather, high density rubber strap with ‘CW’ motif buckle, or fully integrated stainless steel bracelet.
The C7 Rapide Chronograph MkII – V390 with white dial is priced at £299 (leather and rubber strap options) or £350 in the steel bracelet.

Christopher Ward C65 Trident Classic in Rose Gold

Just after the launch of four models from the flagship C9 collection in 18-carat gold, Christopher Ward is further enhancing their collection with the C65 Trident Classic – Rose Gold.

Although sharing a number of design cues with the iconic C60 Tridents, the C65 Classic is unmistakably a dress watch first and foremost, albeit with a touch of sporting DNA. The styling of the C65 Trident Classic elegantly expresses the brand’s English design aesthetic with a timeless, understated style supported by meticulous attention to every detail – fully meeting the challenge set by the use of the appellation ‘classic’.

From the perfectly proportioned, fundamentally re-engineered lustrous rose gold case with its deep stamped Trident emblem on the reverse side, to the sharpness of the raised, SuperLuminova filled nickel indexes with rose accents, this is a watch that demands closer examination for its quality to be fully appreciated.  The black dial of the new C65 Trident Classic presents a sophisticated balance with the subtle yet distinctly stylish rose gold; an effect taken to a truly stunning level in the rose gold bracelet model.

Mühle-Glashütte presents Teutonia models in new midnight blue dial versions

The models of the classic Teutonic family by Mühle-Glashütte are now available with midnight blue dial versions. The dark blue gives the timepieces a depth in which the features of the successful watch family are clearly reflected. Thus, the clear use of forms is passed on to the new models with their D-bezel. With its distinct design, it borders the open face of the new timepieces. As an antithesis in harmony, the light brown leather strap emphasizes the deep blue of the dial. In a sportier variant, the new models are also available with a stainless-steel strap. Featuring nickel-plated hands and hand-applied indices, these new models get a special something from the solarization of the dial. It makes the incident light shimmer on it without being too intrusive.

Teutonia II Chronograph
The totalizers of the hour and minute counters of Teutonia II Chronograph lend the dial a dynamic touch, supported by the diagonally arranged displays of weekday and date at four o’clock position. This sporty elegance is reflected in the precious workmanship: The indices are hand-applied and beveled on all four sides. The silver-colored, nickel-plated hands and indices stand out against the dark blue face and make time readable at a glance.

Teutonia II Großdatum Chronometer
This new version of the Mühle classic, already presented at BASELWORLD 2015, shows its true greatness right down to the last detail. This is not only due to the large date display and the classic, reduced Teutonia design – the Teutonia II Großdatum Chronometer also convinces with its inner values. Following its tradition as measuring instruments maker, the Saxonian family-run company demands high standards as regards precision and reliability. Thus, in the Teutonia II Großdatum Chronometer, a Mühle movement in six positions screened and lavishly regulated is used, with in-house rotor and patented woodpecker neck regulation equipped with fitting balance cock. After the completion of the components, the careful assembly of the movement and the precise on-site timing check, the timepiece is additionally put to the test according to the German Industrial Standard for wrist chronometers. Certified precision – limited to 250 samples.

Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes De Vache 1955

In tribute to the famous creations punctuating this exceptional technical and creative heritage, the Historiques collection by Vacheron Constantin welcomes an exclusive new chronograph inspired by an iconic wristwatch developed by the Manufacture in 1955. Named Cornes de vache 1955 because of its distinctively-shaped lugs, it embodies a singular combination of bold design and absolute technicality.

Born in the effervescence of the post-war years, this chronograph combining rigorous classicism and fanciful design is now reinterpreted in the spirit of the era that engendered it and naturally joins the Historiques collection devoted to the creative archetypes of Vacheron Constantin. This exceptional collection highlights the wealth of a heritage imbued with creative vivacity and horological excellence, breathing new life into the sought-after icons of the Geneva-based Manufacture, to the delight of vintage watch collectors and connoisseurs.
Conveying this same innovative genius, the new Historiques Cornes de vache 1955 is a contemporary interpretation of the first water-resistant and anti-magnetic chronograph presented by Vacheron Constantin 60 years ago. Offering a striking aesthetic contrast with the sophisticated functions of the chronograph and its classic construction with twin round push-pieces, the ‘cow-horn’ lugs endow it with a genuine stylistic identity that is the Vacheron Constantin signature. This now legendary timepiece symbolises the ancestral art of the Maison in creating high-end chronographs.
A modern transposition of an icon from the 1950s, the Historiques Cornes de vache 1955 watch is inspired by the first water-resistant and anti-magnetic chronograph crafted by Vacheron Constantin: one of the three chronographs from the Manufacture that are most keenly coveted by collectors. Alongside its emblematic lugs, the original reference 6087 model featured a 35 mm-diameter round case in 18-carat yellow gold featuring twin “mushroom-type” pushpieces and a screwed-in back. This double-pusher chronograph equipped with a tachometric scale was powered by hand-wound Caliber 492, itself protected against magnetism by a soft iron cage. A highly technical and accurate measuring instrument much appreciated in scientific circles, it nonetheless flaunted the originality of its daring aesthetic characteristics expressing Vacheron Constantin distinctive creative touch in the 1950s. The new Historiques Cornes de vache 1955 chronograph suggests a subtle tension between straight and curving lines, created by the traditional round shape of the case topped by stylised elongated lugs.

A reinvented legend, the new Historiques Cornes de vache 1955 appears in a 950 platinum 38.5 mm diameter case that is water resistant to 30 metres and features delicately polished ‘cow-horn’ lugs. The screwed-in caseback is fitted with a transparent sapphire crystal serving to admire its entirely hand decorated complex mechanical heart. The original layout of the 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock is scrupulously reproduced on this reinterpreted version, while its more contemporary diameter enables an airier display ensuring optimal readability of its functions. This broader opening reveals a silver-toned opaline dial punctuated by Roman numerals, applied hour-markers and hands in 18-carat white gold, while the central seconds hand, the 30-minute counter hand and the tachometric scale feature a royal blue shade further enhancing the perfect legibility of its display. In addition to bearing the prestigious Hallmark of Geneva, the Historiques Cornes de vache 1955 chronograph also meets the numerous demanding criteria of this independent and sovereign label that is a guarantee of provenance, top-notch precision, durability and watchmaking expertise.
Providing a renewed demonstration of the ancestral know-how cultivated by the Manufacture in the realm of short-time measurement, the Historiques Cornes de vache 1955 timepiece pays tribute to a horological complication that is much prized by connoisseurs around the world – the chronograph – and which holds a special place in the Vacheron Constantin heritage. Form the first watch made by JeanMarc Vacheron through to the present day, 260 years have elapsed and witnessed the birth of some of the most complex and prestigious chronographs, all bearing the inimitable Vacheron Constantin stamp of historical excellence. In 1877, the Geneva-based Manufacture presented its first pocket chronograph.
Fitted with two classic round push-pieces, the Historiques Cornes de vache 1955 model houses an exceptional mechanical heart, hand-wound Caliber 1142, beating at a frequency of 3 Hz to ensure the improved precision of the chronograph matched by greater better shock resistance of the balance wheel. Endowed with a 48-hour power reserve, this movement comprising 164 entirely hand-decorated movements drives displays of the hours, minutes, small seconds and central chronograph seconds, complemented by a 30-minute counter. Like the other new chronograph movements by Vacheron Constantin, the column-wheel screw is shaped like the Maltese cross that has become the emblem of the Manufacture.
In keeping with the tradition, the Historiques Cornes de vache 1955 is issued in a highly exclusive production run that will delight devotees of rare and coveted timepieces.

Jaquet Droz Grande Heure Minute Quantième

With the Grande Heure Minute Quantième, Jaquet Droz brings together its historic aesthetic codes in a contemporary watch with a unique identity. In a stainless steel case even thinner than that of the Grande Seconde Quantième, this new watch asserts its personality with three central hands and date through an aperture at 6 o'clock, while upholding the brand's codes: blued steel or rhodium-plated Lancine-shaped hands, red-tipped seconds hand, rhodium-treated indexes, sunray crown, box crystal, etc. The new date aperture sports a design with sharp angles and beveled edges perfectly embedded in the dial, without forgetting the classic last day of the month displayed in red.
In its center, the new JD1150P silicon spiral movement, launched in 2014, endows it with enhanced performance. Silicon is not only non-magnetic, but is also unaffected by changes in temperature and pressure, guaranteeing optimal performance over time and in the most extreme conditions. At present, watchmaking brands able to fashion this both flexible and extremely resistant material are rare. The polished aesthetic of the movement, with its openworked rotor, is admired through the exhibition case-back.
Available in 39 mm and 43 mm versions, with a silvered opaline or blue Côtes de Genève dial, the Grande Heure Minute Quantième will seduce longstanding connoisseurs and new fans of Jaquet Droz alike.
