For the sixth consecutive year, Vacheron Constantin is supporting the European Artistic Crafts Days (JEMA) in partnership with the French National Institute of Artistic Crafts (INMA). These increasingly must-see European events are an opportunity for the public to discover the talented individuals perpetuating age-old skills with a promising future.
Enhancing the reputation and influence of artistic crafts is more than a commitment for Vacheron Constantin: it is a solemn duty. The Maison is determined to intensify the universal reach of these sometimes little-known or forgotten crafts and to enable people to sense thepositive emotional tension stemming from the creation of these objects.
This human “empreinte” (which can be variously translated as stamp, mark or fingerprint) is illustrated in five stages by the “geste” (skilled craftsmanship) of 18 exceptional creative talents:
- The testimony of passion;
- The seal of creative design;
- The expression of invention;
- The sharing of a sense of beauty;
- The memory of fruitful exchanges.
This event built around an original concept affirms the contemporary nature of artistic crafts as well as their creative, social and economic role in envisaging the future.
Keenly sensitive to the intensely human aspect of this refined workmanship, the Manufacture notably supports exhibitions serving to promote and educate with regard to the inherent wealth of artistic crafts, as well as sparking new vocations.
On an international level, Vacheron Constantin is pursuing its duty of popularising knowledge of such skills. In Italy, in partnership with the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte, Vacheron Constantin is proudly supporting the “New Craft” exhibition in the XXI Triennale di Milano. This international exhibition, a pioneering event in the promotion of art and design research, is titled “21stCentury. Design After Design” and is scheduled to run from April 2ndto September 12th
From April 1st to 3rd, the public will also be able to enjoy demonstrations by creative artisans through visits to art ateliers dotted around the city.
In Switzerland, Vacheron Constantin will be supporting the Cantons of Vaud, Jura, Neuchâtel and especially the City of Geneva, from April 15thto 17th. The JEMA will notably feature open days held by more than 50 institutions and artisans’ ateliers around the Canton of Geneva. This year, the Manufacture will be honoured to present an exhibition at the Geneva Museum of Art and History, vividly illustrating the ties between art and matter, as well as reflecting the spirit of artistic crafts.
