Rado HyperChrome Ultra Light wins Good Design Award®

Swiss watchmaker Rado has once again proven its mastery of cutting-edge design and materials: The Rado HyperChrome Ultra Light, a striking timepiece with minimalist design and featherweight components, has won the coveted Australian Good Design Award® – the brand’s second design award this year.

With its index-free dial and deep grey monochrome colour palette, the HyperChrome Ultra Light is a meditation on simplicity. Naturally dark grey silicon nitride lends the lightweight matt monobloc case its notable hue. The dial is texturized with concentric grooves that gently sweep downward, reminiscent of the soothing patterns sculpted in the sand of a zen garden. A fashion-forward Nato strap secures the limited-edition timepiece to the wrist, capturing the essence of a clean and simple unisex aesthetic.
The HyperChrome Ultra Light stands out thanks to its unique fusion of zen-inspired design and high-tech components. The minimalist monochrome timepiece is crafted from a trio of incredibly light high-performance materials – silicon nitride ceramic, anodized aluminium, and hardened titanium. The result is a highly scratch resistant automatic timepiece that weighs only 56 grams – a remarkable marriage of lightness inspired form and function.

A leading design brand, Rado has over 30 prestigious product design awards to its name. The brand also has a longstanding tradition of initiating and partnering with design events and promoting young talent through the Rado Star Prize. The Good Design Award® is the second design honour that Rado has received recently, following the Rado True Open Heart’s receipt of the Red Dot design award earlier this year.

The Good Design Awards is Australia’s longest standing national design award and promotion program, and one of the few forums for professional Industrial Designers and manufacturers to showcase their design expertise to national and international audiences. As a result of more than 50 years of design benchmarking, the program has focused on progressively raising the standard of design and innovation in Australia and around the world.
