Zion Apollo Tourbillon

Operating from Surf Coast Australia, right on the Great Ocean Road, Zion Manufacturing Company aims to put the finest and most intricate timepieces on the wrist of the individual.

The Great Ocean Road stretches from Torquay, Australia’s surfing Mecca to Warrnambool, one of Australia’s most important towns during the gold rush of the 1850’s and 60’s. With roots firmly planted in the Surf Coast and on the Great Ocean Road, Zion has created Apollo; a unique and exclusive timepiece rooted in the beauty and simplicity of the coastal landscape and culture.
Apollo, the first timepiece from Zion Manufacturing Company, combines the complicated, intricate mechanics of the elusive Tourbillon movement with a classic, elegant design and a strap made from the finest Kangaroo Leather.
The Apollo boasts a beautifully elegant case which houses the complex Tourbillon movement. The case itself has been designed to complement the gracefully simple dial design, whilst leaving room for the Tourbillon to flourish. With a case diameter of 42mm, and depth of 12mm, this watch sits comfortably on the wrist, and leaves nothing to the imagination.

The Apollo’s dial is simple and classic, letting the focus rest solely on the perpetual kinetic force that is the Tourbillon. The 36mm, multi‐ layer dial can be enjoyed through the perfectly crafted, double‐dome sapphire glass, which has been finished with an anti‐reflective layer, to avoid distraction. The double‐dome sapphire crystal causes the dial to radiate and gives the beholder the ultimate view of the contrasting dial layers.
The dial is comprised of two separate layers; the outer, a glossy enamel, with classic, long and thin applied hour indexes. The inner; a sandy, brushed texture, which hosts an applied Zion logo, perfectly balanced against the Tourbillon showing at 6 o’clock.
The inner mechanism of the stunning Tourbillon movement can be admired through the sapphire crystal case‐back. The crown; often an overlooked aspect of watch design, has been a major focus of the design process. The 7.5mm screw‐down crown remains subtle, with aim to avoid distraction from the beautiful dial and movement. The crown is robust and gives the owner total control over the complicated Tourbillon movement. Finished with a Zion logo on its convex face, the crown is subtle, yet a beautifully well‐designed aspect of the Apollo.
To finish off the elegant design, this timepiece has been paired with an in house manufactured strap made from Genuine Kangaroo Leather, sourced locally from Victoria, Australia. This leather is amazingly soft yet rugged, and has 10 times the tensile strength of any cow‐hide leather on the market. The 22mm strap will be connected with curved spring bars which compliment the bold case design. The tapered strap finishes with a 20mm deployment buckle which features a small engraved Zion logo. The deployment buckle completes the experience; full circle.
Inside beats a sleek 3A00 Automatic Tourbillon Movement at a frequency of 28,800bph, with a total of 33 jewels. This movement is a modern take on the Tourbillon created in by Breguet in 1795, and continues the intricate and complex legacy of the Tourbillon. When fully wound, this Tourbillon will run for 60 hours.
The Apollo will be launched through a crowd funding campaign on the most popular online funding platform, Kickstarter. During the campaign, the pricing of the Apollo will start at $999USD and range through a variety of pledge levels until $1500USD. Afterwards, the estimated RRP of the Apollo will be $2000USD.
