Freedom To Exist Watches – Introduction

Based in London, Freedom To Exist is a young watch brand that started its operations in November 2015. Promoted by designers who hail from furniture and product design backgrounds, the brand creates affordable luxury timepieces. These wrist accessories are free from fast fashion and passing trends.
“fte” is a self-funded startup and was founded by Kirsty Whyte and Paul Tanner, a couple who met while working at Habitat, before both joining Made.com and moving to Shanghai as two of their earliest employees. “fte” watches are free from visible branding, free from unnecessary technology and free from gender rules.
Freedom To Exist (FTE) produces modern, minimalistic timepieces inspired by the classical design of vintage watches. The brand has decided not to put any logo or brand name on the face of the watches; the dot at the 12 hour marker indicates this is a Freedom To Exist watch. Presently, Freedom To Exist’s product portfolio consists of two collections: 30 Edition & 40 Edition.
The brand’s debut collection, the 30 Edition is the perfect combination of classic detailing with a modern, minimalist finish. At 30mm in diameter and 6.9mm thick, the watch was designed with a nod to smaller styles popular with both men and women in the 1950s and 1960s and wears beautifully on both women’s wrists and men with smaller wrists.
The watch face is pure simplicity, but closer inspection reveals the careful detailing of the hand alignments with the hour and minute markings. The 30 Edition’s domed lens, three-hand design and Italian leather strap further enhances the elegant look of the watch.
Equipped with Swiss-made Ronda movements, the timepieces from this collection are available in gold/black, rose gold/tan, rose gold/brown, silver/nougat, silver/grey, silver/black and rose gold/grey color combinations. The 30 Edition retails for £145.

Its second collection, the 40 Edition is a larger iteration of the brand’s successful 30 Edition and is available in two colour-ways - rose gold/tan and gunmetal/black.
Echoing the simplicity and elegance of its previous collection, the 40 Edition has a clean, understated watch face and is a three-hand style with each hand aligning with the hour and minute markings. The 40 Edition has a 316 stainless steel case with a domed lens and houses a 763.3 Swiss-made Ronda movement.  Each style is paired with a complementary Italian leather strap. The 40 Edition retails for £165/ €190/ $210.
Freedom To Exist watches can be purchased from the brand’s website with free shipping to any international location. They are also available for purchase at select design shops and independent boutiques such as Barbican Shop, Another Country, Clerkenwell London, Skandium, SCP and TWENTYTWENTYONE in London.
