U-BOAT CHIMERA 46 Limited Edition in Titanium and Carbon

Italo Fontana Creator of U-BOAT, following the motto “ Freedom in creation," loves to try things out without being influenced by the market or the competition. Therefore he never puts any limit to his creativity even in terms of materials. The new 46 Chimera is crafted in titanium and carbon, two of the toughest materials in the world and extremely lightweight.

The distinctive and iconic case of the Chimera, for this model in titanium grade 5, features a bezel in forged carbon fibre placed in the case mould in a way that makes each watches unique and, from an aesthetic point of view, a marbled effect, satiny and soft to the touch. Each watch is unique because the carbon fibers are distributed in a random manner in the mold. When the material is compressed under heating, it evolves in an unpredictable way.
The dial consists of three superimposed discs with the last layer made of a laser cut fine wire mesh in stainless steel which allows the movement to be half-seen. Under the curved sapphire glass on the face a U-77 top Soigné with black screws, rhodium plated, automatic mechanical chronograph personalized to U-BOAT specifications.
Furthermore nestled between the instantly recognizable left hand crown and its crown guard, a patented sculpted pusher can be depressed to eject the inner-crown from its recessed position and enabling ease of adjustment for both the date and time. The watch also boasts an additional fourth counter showing the 24 hours of the day and marked by a little red hand. Limited edition of 888 pieces.

SINN 212 KSK (Kommando Spezialkräfte) Limited Edition

The Kommando Spezialkräfte (Special Forces Command, or KSK) was officially formed on 20 September 1996. Since then, the global operations carried out by this Special Forces military unit have been of political, strategic and operational significance.

To mark its 20th anniversary in September 2016, the Gemeinschaft Deutscher Kommandosoldaten e.V. (association of Germancommando soldiers) has collaborated with Sinn Spezialuhren in designing a special watch, the K212 Special Forces Command, a special 70-piece limited edition exclusively for KSK members.
To enable members of the public to share in this special watch, too, we are delighted to be able to present the 300-piece limited edition 212 KSK, a retail version of the K212 Special Forces Command anniversary watch. The design is based on the anniversary edition, which is not available for retail. A commando sword surrounded by oak leaves, the KSK emblem, thus adorns the dial. The 212 KSK also features a second time zone on 24-hour basis, thus taking into account the global operations of the KSK.
Case and crown are made of high-strength seawater-resistant German Submarine Steel and tested for pressure-resistant to 100 atm. In keeping with the unconventional spirit of the KSK, the design of the rotating bezel features the rather unconventional 64-milratcheting of a German army compass, which facilitates orientation in KSK field operations. This military-style ratcheting shows east at 16 milliradians, south at 32 milliradians, west at 48 milliradians and north at 64 milliradians.

The rotating bezel can thus be turned to mark the direction of north – ascertained using the time and position of the sun – and aligned north. The numbers marked on the rotating bezel subsequently enable the direction and azimuth of the destination to be read. This special rotating bezel represents the determination and ability of the KSK to fulfil their mission even when all modern equipment fails.

SINN 6200 WG MEISTERBUND I Limited Edition (18-Carat White Gold)

Earlier this year, German watch brand SINN unveiled a special edition 6200 MEISTERBUND I timepiece in rose gold to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the specialist watch company. Now the brand releases a white gold version of this model in a limited edition of 55 pieces.

Like its rose gold sibling, three “masters of their trade” have also come together for the 6200 WG Meisterbund I edition: Uhren-Werke-Dresden (UWD), Sächsische Uhrentechnologie GmbH (SUG) from Glashütte and Sinn Spezialuhren.
SUG is responsible for building and manufacturing the case made of 18-carat white gold, which proudly bears the “MEISTERBUND” engraving on the side – a distinguishing feature of Sinn Meisterbund series. Sinn Spezialuhren shapes the “face” of the 6200 WG Meisterbund I, which is in keeping with the brand’s traditional masterpieces, thanks to aguilloché and anthracite electroplated dial, while being suitable for everyday use. The 6200 WG Meisterbund I is thus also pressure resistant up to 10 bar and resistant to low pressure. UWD is responsible for manufacturing the high-quality hand-wound calibre UWD 33.1, which proved hugely successful in the rose gold edition, where it was used for the first time in series production.
The centrepiece is the fine, exquisitely decorated hand-wound calibre UWD 33.1 made of nickel silver – a contemporary technical interpretation of a design and development evoking a traditional sense of quality. With a flying barrel supported on one side, it is a prime example of precision and functional robustness while also expressing watchmaking craftsmanship at its best.
The reserve can be adjusted by shifting the eccentric weights in the balance system. This also offsets the imbalance in the complete oscillating system of the watch. The regulator system, on the other hand, provides a convenient means of precision adjustment and beat setting adjustment. Also noteworthy is the fact that all parts of the movement are exquisitely decorated. Plates and cocks are characterised by matte, diamond-planed edges. The combination of matte and polished surfaces gives the movement an exquisite feel, while the diamond profiles underscore the high level of quality. The impression of a consistently designed watch is completed by the fact that the manufactured movement, made of nickel silver and with a diameter of 33 mm, so harmoniously fits into the white gold case which has a diameter of 40 mm.

Vortic Watch Company - Red Rocks Amphitheatre “Hall of Fame Edition” Watch

Colorado based Vortic Watch Company in association with Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado has created a special collection of watches dedicated to Red Rocks Hall of Fame Artists . This first Red Rocks amphitheatre “Hall of Fame Edition” watch was presented to Jackson Browne, one of a handful of artists to be inducted into the Red Rocks Hall of Fame this year, and each inductee will be honored with their own custom built watch to commemorate the award.

Each piece in the collection is completely one-of-a-kind, 100% made in the United states, and powered by an antique, U.S. made pocket watch movement (just like Vortic’s American Artisan Series). All of the watches are handcrafted just an hour north of the amphitheater in Fort Collins, CO at Vortic’s workshop.
The Hall of Fame Edition features an artisanal engraving of the Red Rocks logo on the case and an exclusive set of serial numbers.
The Red Rocks - Vortic Watch Co partnership is also developing a Red Rocks “Limited Edition” watch to be available to the public. Each Limited Edition piece will be one-of-a-kind and share a common aesthetic with the Hall of Fame Edition watches. These pieces will be sold at the Red Rocks amphitheater and at www.vorticwatches.com.

Red Rocks Amphitheater is a rock structure near Morrison, Colorado, 10 miles west of Denver, where concerts are given in the open-air amphitheater. Red Rocks Amphitheater is a naturally formed, world famous outdoor venue just fifteen miles west of Denver, and it is the most attended outdoor amphitheater of its kind in the world. There is a large, tilted, disc-shaped rock behind the stage, a huge vertical rock angled outwards from stage right, several large outcrops angled outwards from stage left and a seating area for up to 9,525 people in between. The amphitheater is owned and operated by the City and County of Denver, Colorado and is located in Red Rocks Park, part of the Denver Mountain Parks system.

Jaquet Droz Supports the Restoration of Historical Horology Creations by Association Automates &Merveilles

Swiss luxury watch manufacture JAQUET DROZ extends its hands to the restoration of three major timepieces led by the Association Automates et Merveilles by sponsoring the restoration of a spectacular Empire-style singing bird pendulum clock operated by a Pierre Jaquet-Droz mechanism.

Since its inception at the height of the Enlightenment, Jaquet Droz has consistently sought to push the boundaries of watchmaking. Designed to measure Time, its creations have been designed as genuine decorative treasures implementing the best expertise and knowledge of the period. The same applies to its automata, from the spectacular androids that enthralled the European royal courts to the songbirds that adorned watches, clocks and snuffboxes, supporting the great naturalist trend of the period.
Many of these masterpieces are preserved today in Swiss or international institutions, particularly in the Forbidden City in Beijing. From the past to the present, this spirit is what has driven the design of Jaquet Droz's contemporary automaton creations. The Bird Repeater and Charming Bird captivate and rouse, almost three centuries later, the same level of wonder before these timepieces embodying unchanged magic.

In a special exhibition in 2012, Jaquet Droz and the Association Automates &Merveilles honored the three leading figures of 18th century watchmaking: Pierre Jaquet-Droz, his son Henri-Louis and their collaborator Jean-Frédéric Leschot. On this occasion, an incredible number of pieces and information was gathered for the first time in three museums in the canton of Neuchâtel.
It therefore made sense for Jaquet Droz to support the association's new project of safeguarding and showcasing the Neuchâtel watchmaking heritage through the restoration of three major pieces: the planetary clock by François Ducommun (International Museum of Horology in La Chaux-de-Fonds), the astronomical clock by Albert Billeter (Musée d’art et d’histoire in Neuchâtel), and the singing bird pendulum clock by Pierre Jaquet-Droz (Watch Museum of Le Locle, Château des Monts).

This last piece will be the particular focal point of the Brand's sponsorship. This clock, 92.56 cm tall and boasting a cabinet adorned with bronze decorative elements, is topped with a cage that houses the singing bird. The cabinet is emblematic of the Empire style, Egyptian revival and Orientalism in vogue under Napoleon with the attributes that are iconic of that period: the sphinx, victories, Egyptian headdress busts, swans and lotus leaves. On the plate, the pendulum clock movement bears the signature "Pierre Jaquet-Droz à La Chaux-de-Fonds". It is likely that it was Napoleon himself who ordered the Jaquet Droz movement for this piece, prior to the cabinet, to offer it to a Princess of Württemberg, a gift that was particularly popular during that period.
Joining the collections of the Watch Museum of Le Locle - Château des Monts in 1984, the clock is quickly becoming a key piece of the museum collections. The clock features a movement powered by a double fusee and chains, chiming the hours and quarter hours on two bells and a crown wheel escapement. The bird's song is produced by a pin-barrel serinette that can play six different tunes on ten flutes. During the melody, the bird pivots on the spot while opening its beak, shaking its tail feathers and puffing up its chest.

As the piece remained non-operational for many years, each component must be disassembled and cleaned. Following this step, each part will be restored respecting the original features. The four-link chains of the clock's motor, special characteristics of this piece, need to be completely redone. The mechanisms of the pendulum and serinette need to undergo complete service. The mahogany cabinet needs to be retouched so that its original color is restored. The bronze components need to be regilded and the bird freshened up. Of course, all this restoration work will be entrusted to specialists.

The restoration project will be completed in 2018 to mark the 280th anniversary of Jaquet Droz. Upon completion, the singing bird pendulum clock will be restored as close as possible to the original condition. This miracle of mechanical precision and ornamental virtuosity illustrates, just as well as contemporary creations, the spirit that has animated men and women working for Jaquet Droz since its inception: a love for the beautiful, captivating motion of Time.

TAG Heuer Supports China Aerospace Industry 60th Anniversary

In the spirit of celebrating the 60th anniversary of China first started its effort in space exploration, TAG Heuer, the Swiss avant-garde watchmaker, unveiled an unprecedented Mars culture exhibition, “Conquest the Space, Challenge the Unknown”, at the iconic landmark of Tianjin Galaxy Mall.
Experts from China National Space Administration, Mr XU Xingli, consultant from Lunar exploration and aerospace engineering SASTIND Center , Mr YE ,General Manager of TAG Heuer Greater China Mr. Leo Poon, together with the brand ambassador Mr. Li Yifeng, attended the event and reviewed the glorious history of the brand in space exploration and its unbreakable link with China’s Mars Exploration Program. Timepieces, fusing watchmaking traditions and fashionable arts, were displayed together with cutting-edge rover models. Technologies of China’s aerospace industry were exhibited in the meanwhile. Long-standing values of the brand, such as fearlessness, pushing beyond boundaries, striving forward, facing down challenges, have been manifested in the most rounded way through the exhibition.
Mr. Li Yifeng, the brand ambassador, also expressed his interest and passion for the China Mars Exploration Program. To be part of Global Solicitation for Program Name and Logo Design in a more active way, he accepted the challenge from Mr.Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of TAG Heuer and President of LVMH Group Watch Division, to make a proposal of his own before the counting down finishes. Through his own action, Mr. Li Yifeng called for all the guests and fans on site to participate in the process, together with TAG Heuer, showing support to China’s aerospace industry and #Don’tCrackUnderPressure.
Spaceflight has always been a challenging breakthrough for human, running into an unknown world and feeling the leap…The fearlessness and wisdom embedded in this is the expression of strength by the powerful. In only 60 years since China’s aerospace was first established, it has made extraordinary achievements that impressed the whole world. From Mr. QianXuesen, the person who built the foundation for the China space effort, to Mr. Yang Liwei, the courageous and talented of the younger generation, from the “soaring” success of the first China satellite “Dongfanghong”, to the grand launch of the next-generation heavy lift launch system “Long March 5”, every step demonstrated the persistence and intelligence of Chinese in exploring the space.
On April 22, 2016, XuDazhe, head of the China National Space Administration, confirmed that the Mars mission had been officially set up and a probe to Mars will be sent in 2020, a start of the nation’s first exploration on the red planet. This mission is another one of China’s most important space exploration mission since its manned spacecraft, lunar exploration flights. The first Mars exploration mission will consist of entering the Mars orbit, landing on Mars and deploying a Mars rover, which is a mission not accomplished by the United States or Russia’s first attempts. The mission is tough and complicated with great challenges.

On August 23rd, 2016, “Global Solicitation for Program Name and Logo Design” was officially launched. And at the “Conquest the Dream - Space” exhibition, experts from the China National Space Administration shared the current situation and future prospects of China space efforts and explained key technologies and relevant knowledge of mars exploration. A banquet of space knowledge is prepared for all the guests.

The spirit of exploration has always been in TAG Heuer’s blood. It faced down watchmaking challenges one after the other, creating avant-garde watches combining competition spirit and quality functions. Based on its DNA, TAG Heuer bonded its unbreakable link with global space efforts as early as 1962. It was the first Swiss watch that was worn in the space -  the legend 2915A chronograph on the wrist of John Glenn in the Friendship 7 going around the global for 3 times. In May, 2012, TAG Heuer visited the International Space Station with the space exploration company SpaceX, demonstrated the reliability and accuracy of its self-manufactured Calibre 1887 movement under extreme conditions.

The TAG Heuer “Conquest the Dream - Space” culture exhibition features the brand’s technology achievements in its 155 years’ history. Guests will have the opportunity to appreciate many legendary timepieces. From 1/100 second, to /1000 second and then to 5/10000 second, TAG Heuer pushes beyond the limits one after another and made the achievements that impressed the whole world.

The exhibition also presented the avant-garde technologies brought by the brand. As the persistence and courage shown by the China space heroes, ever-increasing avant-garde technologies demonstrated the brand’s spirit of pushing forward and extreme fearlessness in the watchmaking arena.

HYT Colorblock Collection

Swiss luxury watch maker HYT celebrates its 3rd anniversary by launching collection of vibrant coloured hydro-mechanical timepieces. Christened as Colorblock collection, this line re-interprets the iconic H1 timepiece in three colours: Yellow, blue and red. The colours feature on the dial, the flange and the strap.
The yellow version is the most distinctive, as this is HYT's trademark colour. Dynamic, flamboyant and radiant, it offers an arresting contrast with the anthracite case in Gun Metal PVD. The blue version is the most subtle, featuring a glacial aura of a surprising depth.
The red version is the most radical and striking. It is the only version to incorporate just three shades: red, black (liquid) and grey (movement), with each of the other versions bearing traces of red on the power reserve and the second wheel. Each piece features a strap in a brand new, ultra-resistant fabric specially designed for these models.
The H1 Colorblock remain faithful to their ancestors (the first H1 was launched in 2012). It boasts a few details borrowed from HYT's contemporary models, such as the black liquid created for the H1 Full Gold, or the minute hand developed for the H1 Ghost. The capillary on the H1 Colorblock is partially coated in SuperLumiNova (SLN), which glows green in low light to illuminate it from below, allowing the time to be read "by deduction": the opaque black liquid blocks light, while the clear liquid allows it through. The H1 Colorblock is available in three limited editions of 10 pieces.

Zenith Special Edition Academy Christophe Colomb Tribute to Cohiba

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Cohiba, the flagship brand of Habanos, Zenith is presenting five unique timepieces featuring a hand-engraved and enamelled Havana gold dial – a watch designed for Haute Horlogerie and luxury cigar enthusiasts.
Only a handful of Academy Christophe Colomb Tribute to Cohiba pieces have been manufactured. They celebrate Zenith’s collaboration with the most prestigious cigar brand in the world. Displayed in an elegant rose gold case of 45 mm in diameter, the timepiece boasts a unique amber-coloured dial.
Crafted in gold and engraved by hand, it reproduces the texture and feel of a tobacco leaf to perfection, while the shimmering brown enamel brings with it the feeling of an authentic puro. Just like a hand-rolled Habanos, this masterpiece has a complex aroma, combining strength and finesse. Beneath the domed sapphire crystal, the applique hour-markers and the faceted, gold-plated hands showcase the spectacular self-regulating Gravity Control module, encircled by the Zenith and Cuban brand emblems.
The uniqueness of the Academy Christophe Colomb Tribute to Cohiba is also reflected in its Manufacture movement, which combines two mechanisms ensuring unequalled precision: On the one hand, a regulating organ with high-frequency oscillations (5 Hz) enabling tenth of a second time sequencing, and on the other, a patented Gravity Control gyroscopic module which neutralises the effects of gravity on the watch operation.
Housed in a case with a water resistance of up to 30 metres and equipped with a total of 308 components – 171 of which are used for the gyroscopic module – the hand-wound El Primero 8804 calibre features off-centred hours and minutes functions, small seconds, a self-regulating Gravity Control module and a power reserve indicator boasting an autonomy of more than 50 hours.
Each Academy Christophe Colomb Tribute to Cohiba is a unique piece equipped with a brown alligator rubber-lined strap with a rose gold triple folding clasp, and presented in an exclusive box which transforms into a tobacco case.

SINN U1 S E

German watch maker Sinn presents U1 S E, an attractive new version of one of rhe brand’s most popular diver’s watches, the U1. Previously, the U1 was available with a black diver’s bezel.
