Swiss luxury watch maker IWC Schaffhausen presents a special edition Portugieser watch to commemorate the centenary of the death of its founder, Florentine Ariosto Jones. The Portugieser Tourbillon Hand-Wound Edition “D. H. Craig USA” with a red gold case is limited to 27 timepieces and will be exclusively on sale in the United States.
IWC Schaffhausen is the only Swiss watchmaking company that was founded by an American. In 1868, American watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones ventured across the Atlantic and founded the International Watch Company in Schaffhausen in order to produce high-quality pocket watch movements for the US market in northeast Switzerland. In celebration of the company’s American heritage and to mark the centenary of the death of F. A. Jones, IWC is now launching a special edition of the Portugieser family exclusively in the United States.
The Portugieser Tourbillon Hand-Wound Edition “D. H. Craig USA” is exclusively available from IWC boutiques and authorized retailers in the United States from October 2016. In addition to the watch, each customer will receive a numbered Santoni passport holder as a reminder of Jones’s journey to Europe as a young man and a copy of the book “F. A. Jones – His Life, Legacy and Watches,” too.
