Montblanc Bohème Collection 2016 - Bohème ExoTourbillon Slim, Bohème ExoTourbillon Slim Jewellery, Bohème ExoTourbillon Slim 110 Years Anniversary & Bohème Automatic Date

Following the success of the Bohème Perpetual Calendar and the Bohème Moongarden, Montblanc introduces for the first time the Maison’s exclusive in-house patented ExoTourbillon into its women's collection, honouring today's sophisticated and independent ladies with the height of horological excellence.

The Bohème Collection enriches the codes of fine watchmaking with elegance and femininity. Each dial features traditional decoration, such as guilloché, gem-setting, miniature gold-work or hand-painting, enhancing the refinement of each timepiece. The craftsmanship continues across the sophisticated cases which feature slightly curved faceted horns, sculpted onion crowns, and bezels set with sparkling diamonds. An even closer look reveals the Bohème design, such as leaf-shaped hands, floral Arabic numerals, minute scales with raised red gold-plated dots, and internal hour rings, that all attest to the attention to detail that goes into the creation of each Bohème timepiece.

As the contemporary Bohème lady likes to create her own personal look, Montblanc has fitted these new Bohème timepieces with an interchangeable strap mechanism that allows her to easily change straps with a simple release button that doesn't require the use of any tools. From a black alligator strap to a stylish coloured calfskin wristband, switching straps is as simple as changing outfits, offering women the choice to define their own distinctive style.

Montblanc enhances its Bohème Collection with four new timepieces, offering femininity and authenticity for today’s modern women.

Montblanc Bohème ExoTourbillon Slim & Montblanc Bohème ExoTourbillon Slim Jewellery
The Bohème ExoTourbillon Slim epitomizes the Bohème Spirit, combining sophistication, self-confidence and audaciousness. For the very first time, Montblanc is offering its patented ExoTourbillon automatic calibre MB M29.24 movement to the ladies, enabling the Bohème lady to elevate her feminine lifestyle to the pinnacle and beauty of fine Swiss watchmaking.
The one-minute ExoTourbillon took over three years of research & development to produce and comes with a quick stop-second mechanism and a micro-rotor that were both created entirely in-house with the utmost mechanical expertise by the master watchmakers at the Montblanc Manufacture in Switzerland.

The ExoTourbillon outperforms standard tourbillon constructions for two reasons. Firstly, the weight of the cage of the ExoTourbillon is disconnected from the balance wheel, and secondly, the weight of the cage is minimal, thus resulting in higher precision and improved isochronism. The balance wheel has a diameter of 9.7 mm, which also plays an important part in the performance of the timepiece thanks to its impressive 18 screws —four of which can be adjusted, and 14 of which are fixed — further improving precision and following the purest watchmaking tradition.

The barrel, with its 48-hour power reserve, is embedded inside the main plate. Its position within the architecture of the movement was the result of a high level of development and testing that sought out the optimal equilibrium between the barrel, the rotor and the balance wheel.
The ExoTourbillon automatic calibre MB M29.24 incorporates a brand new micro-rotor and allows an uninterrupted view on the movement through a sapphire crystal case back, in comparison to a standard rotor that always hides half of the movement. The whole construction measures a mere 4.5 mm in height, a feat in itself for a calibre of this complexity.
A red arrow on the tourbillon cage indicates the seconds and features a practical quick stop-second mechanism. This function is made possible thanks to the construction of a whip, which halts the large screw balance with its 18 screws and restarts it on demand.

Optimal geometry and kinematics were studied in depth to find the right angle at the end of the whip, allowing the user to set the time to the exact second and ensure an immediate restart of the movement. The quick stop-second mechanism instantly stops the balance from rotating, instead of halting the tourbillon cage, which can cause the balance to continue swinging and upset the precision of the watch. All the functions and operations are set via the crown at three o’clock.

For utmost elegance and craftsmanship, this innovative in-house manufacture movement has been decorated to the highest standards of watchmaking: Côtes de Genève "en éventail” decoration on the bridges and micro-rotor, mirror polishing on the tourbillon bridge in the shape of a twirling stick, satin-finishing on the main plate, and a sunray finishing on the plate below the micro-rotor.

This attention to detail continues on the Montblanc Bohème ExoTourbillon Slim dial, which is made of a silvery-white mother-of-pearl with a refined guilloché pattern. For the Montblanc Bohème ExoTourbillon Slim Jewellery, the centre of the dial has been paved with 144 Top Wesselton diamonds (~ 0.531 carat). Both models feature 58 Top Wesselton diamonds (~ 1.39 carat) set into the bezel and come in a new 38 mm red gold case size with a slim height of only 9.37 mm – the perfect dimensions for an elegant feminine wrist.
Other details include floral Arabic numerals with sensuous curves, an internal hour ring, and a minute track of precious red gold dots.

The Montblanc Bohème ExoTourbillon Slim Jewellery will come with Montblanc's interchangeable strap mechanism and a multitude of colourful calf straps to let woman the choice between Cappuccino, Orange Apricot, Coquelicot, Bleu des îles or Turquoise.
To reach the highest performance and reliability, both Bohème timepieces are tested and certified by the Montblanc Laboratory Test 500.

Montblanc Bohème ExoTourbillon Slim 110 Years Anniversary
On the occasion of the Maison's 110th anniversary, Montblanc is celebrating its pioneering spirit with a number of new timepieces this year. One of these anniversary timepieces is the Montblanc Bohème ExoTourbillon Slim 110 Years Anniversary, which is dedicated to the contemporary Bohème lady.

Montblanc returns to its beginnings for the development of this new timepiece by recalling the design theme of the Maison’s first fountain pen series – the historic Rouge et Noir line.

This iconic writing instrument, with its serpent clip, was the inspiration behind this year’s new Heritage Rouge & Noir Collection, bringing a contemporary twist to the early model with a slimmer and longer silhouette, as well as incorporating modern piston technology.

A symbol of life and rebirth, the serpent has been an object of desire and fascination through the ages. A recurring motif in art and design, the mysterious creature was a rich source of inspiration during the Art Nouveau and Art Deco at the beginning of the 20th century periods. Today it provides the inspiration for Montblanc’s 110th anniversary collection, as can be seen on the dial of the Montblanc Bohème ExoTourbillon Slim 110 Years Anniversary, where a painted blue lacquered serpent, with diamonds for its scales and rubies for its eyes, coils around the dial and the timepiece's exquisite ExoTourbillon at six o'clock.
This timepiece offers a unique mix of craftsmanship and refinement, combining the innovative Montblanc Manufacture ExoTourbillon automatic calibre MB M29.24 with an exceptional artisanal dial that takes over one month to craft by hand. The sophisticated multi-layer dial is constructed using several different techniques that require a clear artistic and aesthetic approach, as well as strong dexterity and know-how.

The process starts with a refined white mother-of-pearl dial that becomes the canvas for the decoration that will slowly emerge. The first step is the application of fine red gold-plated wires that become the outline for the serpent's body and its honeycomb scales.

Next, an Arabic number 12 and red gold-plated rings are applied to the dial bringing a three-dimensional effect as the serpent entwines its body above and beneath the gold-plated bands. A delicate coat of blue lacquer is then hand-painted onto the serpent's body bringing a deep rich blue to the dial. The final step is the setting of 55 diamonds and 2 rubies for the eyes that are embedded into the red gold-plated elements of the reptile for utmost refinement.

The Montblanc Bohème ExoTourbillon Slim 110 Years Anniversary comes in a new 38 mm red gold case with 58 diamonds on the bezel (~ 1.39 carat), a blue alligator leather strap, a red gold pin buckle that is set with one diamond (~ 0.0091 carat) and that features an engraving of the Montblanc emblem, as well as a crown set with the patented Montblanc diamond (~0.1088 carat).
