Swiss Watch Brand Longines and Ambassador Andre Agassi Launch Conquest V.H.P. Collection at World Trade Center Boutique in Manhattan

Swiss watch brand Longines and Ambassador of Elegance Andre Agassi were joined by retail partners and friends for the official US launch of the Conquest V.H.P. collection in downtown Manhattan on Tuesday, November 7th.Andre Agassi was joined by Juan-Carlos Capelli, Vice President of Longines and Head of International Marketing, and US Brand President Pascal Savoy, who welcomed guests to the Longines Boutique at the Westfield World Trade Center.

As a paragon of excellence in tennis performance, it was only natural that Andre Agassi be present with Longines to help officially launch the Conquest V.H.P. The intimate cocktail celebration began with a few words of welcome by Mr. Savoy and Mr. Capelli.

The event also celebrated Longines’ mastery of quartz technology for more than 60 years. Mr. Capelligave a brief talk on this fascinating history and notable benchmarks on the road to the Conquest V.H.P. To illustrate his points, he referenced theLongines museum piece displays which were flown in from the Swiss brand’s museum in Saint-Imier for the occasion, whose notable models spanned from early 1950s era-chronometers to the first quartz wristwatch, launched by Longines in 1969 and the first 1984 Conquest V.H.P. 

Guests then were presented with a movie about the Conquest V.H.P., one of the most accurate quartz wristwatches in the world. Mr. Capelli gave insights into its“very high precision” (V.H.P.) movement for an analogue watch (± 5 s/yr), and discussedits ability to reset its hands after an impact or exposure to a magnetic field using the GPD (gear position detection) system. Following the presentation, guests were also invited to explore the Conquest V.H.P. Collection firsthand.

The boutique event capped off an exciting day of activities centered around the launch of the Conquest V.H.P. Collection. That morning, Agassi had personally greeted customers at the Longines shop-in-shop at Macy’s Herald Square for photos and autograph signings. Later in the evening, following the speeches, Longines welcomed ten more lucky customers who had pre-ordered the Conquest V.H.P. to meet Agassi Agassi in the World Trade Center boutique for a private signing and meet-and-greet.

It was fitting that Andre Agassi be present with Longines for the launch of the Conquest V.H.P. Collection, as 2017 marks his landmark tenth year as a Longines Ambassador of Elegance. His distinguished accomplishments as one of the all-time tennis greats, along with his unforgettable style, first led Longines to name Agassi an Ambassador of Elegance in 2007. In addition to his Olympic gold medal, Agassi is also the winner of four Grand Slam singles titles, and has also been the victor of the Davis Cup and the Masters Series. Since his retirement, Agassi devotes his time to his family and his charity work through The Andre Agassi Foundation (founded in 1994), whose mission is to assist the youth of Las Vegas and provide them with educational opportunities. He also opened up a public school in his home town in 2001 for at-risk children.
